Chapter 18
Autumn's P.O.V
"Here." I offered, jumping off Harry's back.
"You've been carrying me for nearly ten
minutes."
My feet touched the hard, concrete, and Harry streached out his
back.
"Where are we going?" I asked, quite suspicious.
"No where, really...Just wandering around."
"Okay?" I phrased in more of a question.
We walked down a long sidewalk, and then turned into a path that
went through the woods.
"I used to walk down here when I was younger." Harry
said, avoiding all eye contact.
I didn't reply. I just took in all the wonderful scenery.
Birds were zipping through the sky, singing songs that could make
satan himself be silenced.
"There is a tree somewhere around here. I built a house out
of wood up at the top of it with my Dad." Harry said those
words, not looking at me.
"How old were you?"
"Seven or Eight."
I giggled. "Little Haz."
No more words were spoken after that. We just wandered through
the trails, and I took in the beautiful nature surrounding
me.
"There." Harry pointed up in the air.
I was awe-struck by the large treehouse up at the peak of a large
tree. I immediatly turned into a little child. I grabbed
Harry's hand, and pulled him up the lader and into the
treehouse. I opened up the hatch in the floow and peered
inside.
I was amazed at how large it was. There were two windows on three
sides of the room, and then a door on the far side. Still holding
onto Harry's hand, I wandered over to the door, and attemped
to open it. The door wouldn't budge.
"It won't open." I said.
"Here." Harry offered. He let go of my hand, and
jiggled the doorknob. The door then immediatly swung
open.
I looked down at my hand, embarrassed that I forgot that I was
still holding it. I could feel my face turning a vibrant shade of
red. I looked up and saw that his was, too. I walked through the
doorway, and we landed on an open porch. I walked over to the
rails. We were in the highest tree in the forest. When you looked
around, you were taller than the birds, it felt like you were
actually touching the sky.
"It's been forever since I've been up here."
Harry said. I swear I could see his eyes slowly filling up with
tears. I sat down on the cold ground, and brushed away all the
fallen leaves.
Harry smirked a bit, giving me a glare like i was crazy, but soon
caved in, and took a seat on the ground next to me.
The wind whisped our hair around, but the breeze was warm and
welcoming, not cold and crisp.
I tucked my head between my knees, to keep my hair from vblowing
around my face.
"I know you don't believe me, but I'm sorry."
Harry said, looking away from me.
"I know." I mumbled.
"And I miss you more than anything." Harry
whispered.
"Things happen for a reason, Harry." I said, finally
looking into his eyes. "I'm tired of this cat and mouse
game. I love you, then I don't, then I love you, then I
don't. I want to just be friends, but I can't bear just
being friends with the person I've loved my whole life."
A tear slipped down my eye, and stained my shirt.
"You love me?" Harry asked.
"Of course I do. I always have. But I just hate you for
it."
Harry laughed, but at the same time, started crying.
"It's all my damn fault." He said, wrapping his arm
around my waist.
"I know it is..." I said, not meaning to sound that
harsh.
"Yeah..."
Without thinking, I rested my head on Harry's shoulder.
"Let's give it a shot...I can't bear the thought of
being without you." I said.
"Really?"
"Yeah, just don't mess it up."
Harry leaned in and kissed me.
Was I making the right decission? If I wasn't then I would
leave him for good. Never see him again, but for right now, he
was one of the only people I had...
