Forget Me Not
chapter 4
“So your telling me that you would
rather be stranded on a desert island, on your own than give away
your ipod?” I nodded and smiled.
“And if anyone, and I do mean anyone tried to go within 5
feet of my ipod I would seriously poke them in the eye” I
answered in all seriousness, sending Justin into a fit of
laughter. “You think I’m joking? I dare you to try
and go near it superstar” I said poking him in the arm
which made him laugh harder. “I have a question for
you” Justin’s laughs became quieter as he listened to
what I had to ask. “If you had to chose… Would it be
sports or music?” He scrunched up his nose, obviously
finding the choice difficult.
“Both?” He asked sweetly.
I giggled and shook my head. “Only one”
“Probably music then, I guess” He answered leaning
forward and poking the drip that was in my hand. “I mean, I
love both but if I had to chose… I guess it would be
music… I’m here today because of it” I smiled
and nodded, playfully slapping his hand away from the needles
that were currently in my hand.
“I’m glad you showed up at my door… Uninvited
though, might I add” He smiled, taking his hat off and
flipping his hair… Again. “What made you choose my
door?” I asked. He placed his hat back on his head gently,
being careful not to adjust the now perfected look.
“My Mom asked the nurses to point me in the right direction
to somebody of my age and someone I could learn from” He
answered. “They said that you had been through a lot and
probably could use someone as handsome as me to talk
to”
“Is that right?”
“Yup” He said popping the p. “The nurse said
that you’d had a rough childhood” I nodded in
acknowledgement. “What’s that all about?”
“Uh…” I hesitated.
“Its okay, you don’t have to tell me” I shook
my head. “No, I want too… I mean… Its kind of
a long story. You might want to get comfortable” I told
Justin pretty much everything.
I told him about my dancing and how my Mom got sick
and passed away when I was about 9 years old. I told him that my
father was a happy go lucky drinker who would pick a pint of beer
over me any day and I told him why I didn’t cry at my dads
funeral… He sat and listened, only intervening when he had
a question or to ask if I was okay and if I wanted to stop. Every
time he would ask I would smile, shake my head and carry on.
Why I trusted Justin, who I have only known for around 3
hours was beyond me… But there was something about him
that made me feel safe. It might sound strange but I knew I could
trust him with this, I knew he wouldn’t turn around and
tell me that I was heartless and that I deserved it, no matter
how much I though that. Justin Bieber was different. A good
different don’t get me wrong… But definitely
different.
“That’s a beautiful necklace” Justin said
pointing to the small blue flower locket that hung loosely around
my neck. Out of instinct I moved my hand up and touched it
gently.
“Thanks, it was my Mom’s”
“What is it? A bluebell?” I smiled slightly and shook
my head.
“No, its called a forget me not, its both my moms and my
favourite flower”
“I’ve never heard of them” Justin leant forward
and took a closer inspection.
“She gave it to you then huh?” “Yea, she said
that she wanted to be close to my heart, and now every so often
the sun will catch it and I’ll notice and remember all the
good time that we had…”
“A forget me not…” Justin stated moving back
to sit on the old chair properly. “That’s my new
favourite flower” I smiled and opened my mouth to say
something but the knock at the door stopped me.
“Hey my names Pattie, I’m Justin’s mother, your
Olivia right?” The brunette woman said waving at me
slightly. I nodded
“Nice to meet you Pattie” Pattie nodded in agreement
and then turned her attention to Justin.
“Time to go Justin” He stood from his chair and took
out his cell.
