Chapter 7
Anya's POV:
I got home that day from school and
quickly changed into my waitress uniform. I had to go to work
in an hour at the karaoke restaurant down the street. Before
I was about to leave my parents stopped me. "Anya, we
saw your last history test." I gulped, I didn't do
very well on it. "Mom, Dad, don't worry. There's
no need for history when you're famous." My parents
just shook their heads and let me leave. They did not approve
of my dreams of becoming famous. They didn't believe in
me and thought I spent way too much time on singing instead
of school.
I drove to work thinking about Josh; I knew it was wrong but
I think I may have feel for him. He was the only boy that was
that good at singing that's ever spoken to me. But Casey
was fierce and would never let me even speak to her boyfriend
let alone go out with him.
I got to work and started a normal shift. Just then Casey and
her group of friends walked in. I rolled my eyes, she was the
last person I wanted to see here tonight. It was finally my
break and since it was open mic night I
thought I should give it a shot. I went up and introduced
myself, "Hello, I am Anya Stella Fink and I will be
singing Tonight from West Side Story." I smiled. I
started singing when Casey stood up and began singing Tonight
Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae. "What are
you doing?" I asked while she was singing. She stopped
and I started singing my song again, "This is what you
get for talking to MY boyfirend." she snapped.
We kept singing, going back and forth. It kind of
sounded like a mash-up. Actually, it sounded really good. So
I just went with it.
At the end of the song everybody started clapping like crazy.
They thought it was planned out. I bowed and smiled. It was
obviously one of my best performances. Who knew it would be
with Casey? "Thank you, thank you all." I said.
Casey just rolled her eyes at me and sat back down with her
friends.
"Anya, hey." I heard a familiar voice call. It was
Carly. What did she want? "Hey Carly." I said in my
nicest possible voice. "I heard you and Casey sing. That
was amazing. It was brilliant." I smiled at her,
"Thanks, truth be told it wasn't planned at
all." She grabbed a seat motioned for me to sit next to
her, "Anya, you're very taltented." "I
know." I said while twirling my hair. "Anywho, so is Casey and I think I'm good as
well." Way to brag; I thought. "So I was
thinking," she continued, "Maybe this whole band
thing is a good idea. I mean people will love us."
I thought about and Carly was right; this could be the start
of something good. "I'm in." I told her
while getting up to continue my shift.
