You're looking into a mirror, admiring yourself, when suddenly, everything in the mirror image changes. It turns into a window rather a mirror. You want to run away, but you can't peel your eyes away from the scene of a girl. She's sitting on a gray and brown bench outside somewhere you've never seen. It looks cold out. You think you might see some snow gently falling. The little girl is combing through her hair and every so often she shivers. You feel bad for the little girl wearing no coat out in the cold. You tap the glass gently to see if you can reach her. Tap, tap, tap. You keep tapping until the little girl looks directly at you. Her eyes are icy and cold just like the weather. She doesn't smile, but she doesn't frown. She simple stares at you expressionless. You don't know what to do, but before you can think of something, her eyes change. The entire scene changes into something warmer. Her hair darkens, the sky changes from blue and grey to pink and yellow. The snow turns into sunlight. Her eyes turn black, they widen and she hints a smile. She raises her right arm, and whispers something. You tilt your head trying to figure out what, but before you can, you can smell flowers and see sunlight. "Where am I?" you think. You look around and see a tree, some benches, a swingset, and then you turn and see what you have been staring at for the past ten minutes. A little girl who's slowly walking toward you.

Decisions, Decisions (part one)

"What type of clothes do you want?" An old man with a rapsy voice asks me.

"Whatever's comfortable and cheap." Emery answers for me.

The old man glares at Emery. "I was talking to the lady."

Emery sighs.

"What would you like, ma'am?" The old man asks again.

"Just something that's comfortable to fight in, relax in, and sleep in, I guess."

"Ah, I see." The old man sighs. "One moment,"

The man waves his left arm. His menu pops out and he begins to look at clothing.

"Is this okay?" The man makes the image he was looking at big enough so we can all three see it.

It's a brown and orange shirt with loose fit everywhere. The sleeves are brown and the rest is orange. It looks like it'd be very comfortable. The pants are regular skinny jeans that look like they'd be a little loose on me. The shoes are combat boots.

"Perfect," I say because I don't want the man doing anything else for me. He's done enough and has other customers.

"How much?" Emery asks.

"Thirty-five." The old man smiles.

"Okay," I open my menu bar and check out.

"Would you like a sword?"

Stan's Signifigant Supplies and Menu bars (part two)

"We need to all get fitted." Emery blurts this out just before we leave the store.

"Fitted?" I ask. "Fitted for what?"

"Well, you can't wear those clothes forever, for one." He smirks.

"You and Fallon already have clothes." I say.

"You need to get fitted for clothes, but we all need to get fitted for weapons."

That kind of scares me. Handling a weapon, even in a world where it's allowed, it a little frightening. People will run around and start killing each other. It's like a video game, Emery said, so they will treat it like one.

"Do we have to have weapons?" I lower my head, expecting to be yelled at.

I'm not yelled at, but neither of them let it go either.

"Do you want to die out there?" Fallon's eyes, usually so care free, are hardening.

"Are you asking for death, welcoming it?" Emery asks.

They keep saying things like that to me until I finally agree. As much as I don't want to have the responsibility of carrying a weapon, I don't want to die either. Better safe than sorry.

"Open your menu bar and see how much money they gave you." We're all sitting in line for me to be fitted for clothes.

"I move my left arm down and open the money bar. "Three thousand." I say. The sign for money is so different from the one I'm used to. It's basically an M with three lines through it, and beside the M there is a tiny face.

"Wow, more than both of us."

"You man you got a different amount?" I ask.

"Everyone did," Emery sighs. "You're lucky,"

Stan's Signifigant Supplies and Menu bars (part one)

"Welcome to Stan's Signifigant Supplies!" A man with barely any hair and a square face greets us at the door of the store.
"How do they already have people working here?" I ask.
"Think of it like this, okay?" I wait for Emery to continue. "This world is like a video game. There are actual people, us for example, and people who were programmed to say what they say. That man isn't real."
Those last words echo in my head; that man isn't real.
"Does that work with houses and money too?" I ask while I pick up a box of something labeled C-12.
"Yeah, from what we've seen." Fallon picks up three boxes of the same thing I did. "A man when we first woke up told us that if you hold your left arm out and move it down in a swift movement you would open up a sort of menu and there you can see your balance and friends."
I almost drop my box. "Is that even possible?"
"Here it is," Emery confirms.
"Wait!" Fallon stops us. She holds her left arm out a little bit and moves it down quickly. A glowing bar pops up, written on it, MENU. She taps the menu button and another window pops up asking her what she wants to do. She clicks "Add Friend."
"Whoa," I can't help but being amazed. Even in our advanced times, in the other world we couldn't do that. We couldn't do anything close to it.
"What's your full name?" Fallon asks.
"Oh, Maella Farris." I tell her and . turn and see a shelf of what looks like ice-cream products. I walk over to it.
A noise startles me. Something popped up right in front of me. It's the Menu bar. It's flashing and now making a quiet noise, warning me that I have a notification.
"Go ahead," Emery and Fallon both say.
I click it and it vibrates a little. Another title pops up that says "You Have One New Friends Request, Would You Like To View?"
I click the "yes" button and accpet Fallon's request. I then add Emery.
"That was amazing," I smile

Destinations and Walking

"Where exactly are we going?" Since Fallon and Emery have been awake longer than I have, they've already explored a little.
"It's a store called Stan's Signifigant Supplies. Not the most creative name, but it sells things you're going to need in order to live here." Emery points out his clothes. "See what I'm wearing? I wasn't wearing these when I arrived. I was wearing the guy version of what you are. You need better, more protective clothes."
"They also sell food and anything else you can imagine." Fallon exclaims.
"Joy," I whisper.

Waking up

I open my eyes to a beautiful shining sun. Where am I? I don't know this place. Actually, I don't recognize anything here.

There is a girl and a boy sitting beside me. They're both leaning up against a tree. I sit up.

"Emery, she's awake." The girl smiles at me. Her smile is very pretty, warm and happy.

"Don't scare her, Fallon." The boy puts his hand out to keep the girl  --
Fallon away from me.

"Um," I rub my head. I have the  biggest headache ever.

"What's your name?" Emery asks.

I hesitate and try to think of where I am. I think Fallon catches on to me by seeing me look at everything strangely.

"Emery, I think she's confused as to where she is." Fallon moves Emery's arm away from her and scoots closer to me. "We're in Ainia. You probably signed up for the program to leave the world we all lived it. We did it too, but we did it together. Did you come here with anyone?"

I remember now. I was in a lab room with a women and they gased me when I told them I didn't want to come here. "How do I get out of here?"

"Oh," Fallon's eyes widen.

"Fallon," Emery stops her from saying something. "We don't think there is a way to get out of here. The people who sent us here told us that we stay here until we die and when we die in here, we actually die. They told us to think of it like a video game brought to life, except you get one life and no redos."

"I see," I tell them. "My name is Maella." I extend a hand out and shake first Emery's and then Fallons.

"We should probably buy weapons, shouldn't we?" Fallon directs that question to no one in particular.

"Why would we buy weapons?" I ask.

"This world is pretty much a death trap. People are going to start killing other people and everyone will go crazy. You need to stick with someone you can trust. That's why we asked you if you brought anyone with you."

"But what if I didn't?" I'm a little scared to be honest.

"Then you can come with us, right Emery?" Fallon answers for him.

"Right," Emery sighs, but smiles.

Flash back

"I want to leave this world."
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
"I don't want to be here anymore. Leaving this world and going into another one, even if it's not a real world is the best thing I can do.
"It will probably feel like a dream when you first wake up there, and remember, we're sending others so you won't be alone."
"I know," I've heard this all before from the same lady two weeks ago.
"There's one thing we forgot to tell you,"
"Somehow I doubt that," I whisper under my breath.
"In this world, when you die, you stop breathing and you can never be revived. We don't know what happens when you die in the world we're sending you and five thousand others in. We just don't know."
They don't know what happens to you when you die. They don't know what will happen to me or anyone if we stop living in that world.
"How do you not know?" I ask.
"Maella," The lady tries to calm me.
"No!" I stop her before she can try calming me. "How can you not tell me this? I thought you knew everything!"
"Maella, this is an experiment, that is why we test these things. To find out." She smiles a little.
"I don't want to go anymore." I try to stand up, but Amanda, the women, snaps her fingers and two guards hold me down.
"Yes you do, Maella, yes you do." She smiles again.
The men hold me down and strap me into the pod and place a helmet over my head. I can't hear what they're talking about, but I think it's about me. I hear something pouring into the chamber I'm in, but it's not water. Nothing is in here but me. I start to feel woozy and sick before I finally shut my eyes and I'm out.

Hey, so I'm writing this story, let me know if you like it. This chapter is telling you how Maella, who is the main character, got into this other world. This was probably confusing and you're probably wondering why she agreed to participate in this experiment, and that will all be revealed soon. Let me know if you want to be notified.

Flash forward

"I know what you're thinking." I hear someone behind me getting closer.

"What am I thinking?" I decide to humor the voice. I prepare my sword silently.

"You're thinking that I'm going to attack you, don't you?" The voice chuckles a bit.

"Well," I can't think of something to say, so I turn around and face the person.

It's someone I've met before. Someone I've seen passing through the villages or while walking around. It's someone I met when I first arrived here, but I thought disappeared. They haven't though. They're here, in front of me.
