I think its because lots of tv shows and websites tend to romanticize that stuff, and make it seem poetic and interesting to be suffering and that is what people without depression dont understand. They dont actually want depression, they want the idealized version of it....but its not reality...Depression is pain...no beauty in it at all

I completely agree...It makes me so mad when people promote eating disorders and act like they want one....some people actually believe eating disorders are lifestyles...its scary...it makes me sad, but sadly those people do not understand the damage they are doing

and many 13/14 year olds self diagnose because to them, eating disorders sound cute and trendy...if you don't think that's a problem, go visit tumblr and search for the term Pro Ana, and you will see how little these people actually know about eating disorders and how serious they are
