"He is bad news..."
Chapter 28
I was home, wearing this dress Sienna picked for me. I was totally drifted away this morning. She understood that and picked the dress for me. It was a pink one, with a short skirt combined of ripped off textile and veil but with a long tail. It was beautiful. I decided to wear a pair of silver high heels. I curled my hair and applied a pale pink lipgloss on my lips, a faint–pink blush on my cheeks and make–up. My mascara and eyeliner were hardly visible.
I was fixing my hair in front of the mirror when my mom burst into the room. A huge smile covered her face as she took three pictures of me.
“That’s enough, mom!” I whined, hiding my face in my hands.
“But you look so beautiful, honey! Homecoming is such a great event, you should be glowing with happiness!” she cheered, snapping another picture.
“Okay, that’s enough” I said, grabbing her camera and throwing it on my bed. “It’s annoying!”
Suddenly, the doorbell sounded. Confused, I casted an eye on the alarm clock on my nightstand, just to notice it was only 7 pm. Homecoming was starting on 8 pm. What’s the meaning of this?
I walked down the staircase, trying not to step on my dress. When I entered the hall, I saw Everett standing there, holding a box and wearing a tux.
“You’ve got to be kidding me” I blurted out, walking to him.
He gave me a toothy smile and gave me the box. I wore the bracelet and then my mom tapped our shoulders. “Sit there, I want to take a picture!”
“Nah uh! Don’t you move!” I shouted, snapping my finger at her.
“Come on, it’s prom! If I don’t take pictures now, when will I?” she said, playing it all innocent.
“Yeah, it’s prom!” Everett repeated. I shot him a glare and he laughed.
“Don’t encourage her!” I whined.
“Come on, pictures are cool!” he said.
“Who are you with?!” I said, faking a furious expression.
“It’s just one picture” he claimed, pulling me closer.
“I hate you” I muttered, while waiting for my mom to bring the camera.
“I know” he said, smiling at the camera. I did the same and as soon as the ‘click’ sounded, we calmed down.
“You never introduced me to your date” my mom said. I coughed the moment I heard the word ‘date’. He’s not even my date mom, wake up!!
“I’m Everett Randers, ma’am” he introduced himself, shaking hands with my mother politely. I laughed softly, earning a smack on my arm by Everett.
“Nice to meet you, Everett” my mother said.
“Nice to meet you too, Mrs. Jensen” he replied.
“Oh, please, call me Sarah” she beamed, flashing me a knowing smile.
Just then, my dad appeared. Everett straightened his back and fixed his tie. I was about to burst out laughing but he gave me an annoyed look so I tried to hold back my laughter.
“Hello Mr. Jensen” Everett said confidentially. I smiled a small smile, move that made my dad shoot me a glance.
Awkward silence. Do something, ret.ard.
“Dad, this is Everett Randers, my date for homecoming” I introduced Everett to my dad.
“Nice to meet you, Everett” my dad said politely. “Take care of my baby girl, will you?” he added with a sweet tone.
I blushed as Everett’s hand laced around my waist, pulling me closer. “I will”.
“We should go” I blurted out, even though I knew the prom wasn’t gonna start for almost forty minutes now.
Everett took my hand and opened the front door, leading me outside. We both waved my parents goodbye and walked across the garden, making our way to the street and holding hands.
“What was that?” I asked him, still surprised.
“No way am I letting you go to the prom with that jerk” he said steadily, looking over at me.
“So, you came here, dressed up like this, met my parents and pretended to be my date just to make sure Vince won’t take me to the prom?” I asked, feeling my heart hurt.
He remained silent. I shook my head. “You’re such an as.s.hole, Everett” I said, walking down the street and making my way to the opposite pavement.
“Wait!” he called me, chasing after me. He grabbed my arm and pulled me back. “Wait” he repeated, turning me around.
“What do you want?” I asked, feeling so hurt. He couldn’t be so bad. But hey, I guess Sienna was right after all.
“I’m sorry. I came here because yes, I didn’t want Vince to take you to the prom. However, the reason you’re thinking about is not the only one. I was jealous, Evelyn. No one can take you to any prom or touch you except me” he stated, voice steady.
His words made me smile. That smile soon turned into a smirk. “Possessive much?” I said.
“Yes” he answered, holding me close.
“Where are we gonna go now? We’re not going to the prom, are we?” I asked him, unsure of his intentions.
He looked at me, smiling.
“It’s a surprise”.

"He is bad news..."
Chapter 27
“Look” he whispered. “Are you sure you wanna hear?”
I nodded, touching his cheek. “Speak out”.
“Okay. So, that night, when the officer made the call, I went there to find my mother. Dad was already here and together, we went with her to the hospital. When we arrived there, the doctors tried everything they could but she died of internal bleeding. They couldn’t do anything. My dad decided to spend the night there but I went back to the ‘crime scene’. I knew the police would do the least they could (they always do that, don’t they?) so I decided to investigate the case myself. I went there and I saw my mother’s car smashed by another purple Bugatti I think. I went closer to look at it. Only one could afford a Bugatti in this school except me. Zachary Bowers. I saw the policeman talking to some man around forty–five wearing a suit. They were quarreling and I could figure this out by the policeman’s expression. After five minutes, the policeman opened the door of the car and two teenagers got out. It took me two seconds to realize the teens were Vince and Zach. I stood there, till they got into this man’s jeep and left. I walked to the policeman to ask for more. He told me that this man was Zach’s father, Arnold Bowers, who came here so Zach can be off the hook. They were gonna go to the police station after, that’s what he said. I knew Zach and Vince would get away with it since Zach’s dad was a huge lawyer and made like 500,000 dollars per day. I didn’t care, though. I wanted to make him pay no matter what.
The next day I went to school and found him and Vince talking about something with serious faces. I grabbed them both and locked them inside an empty room. I started with the threats and Vince, as the classic coward he is, said everything, every bit of it. Zach was all quiet. I told them I’d make them pay for everything they did. That’s how that competition with Zach and me began. Vince had to follow, you clearly understand why” Everett ended, his eyes on the ground.
I stood there speechless. That story was impossible. I knew Zach was a bad guy, but that bad? I couldn’t even imagine this. This was just…unthinkable. Annie (Everett’s mom) was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I didn’t know her very well but still, she was really nice and kind. She shouldn’t have died like this.
“Yes but still” I muffled, feeling my mouth dry, “You never told me how it happened. What did Vince tell you?”
Everett took a deep breath. “They were at this party on Saturday and they got really drunk. Zach got in the car even though Vince told him not to, they drove across the street, Zach didn’t see my mom’s car and...”
“I see” I cut him off. “I must tell Sienna”.
“No” he grabbed my hand. “Don’t tell her”.
“Why not?” I asked.
“Because she’ll ask stuff, like ‘How do you know?’ or ‘Who told you?’ or ‘Since when you hang out with Everett?’ and things. That’s Sienna, don’t tangle up with her” he joked, flashing me a smile.
I smiled back, snuggling next to him.
“I just hope she’ll be okay…”

Okay... I'm so so sorry guys for not uploading for what? Weeks? I'm really sorry! I've been deadly busy due to family issues... And now I'm on vacation so! I hope you liked this chapter! If yopu wanna be notified, comment below!

"He is bad news..."
Chapter 26
You’ve got to be kidding me.
My jaw dropped as the truth sank in. Zach and Vince had killed Everett’s mother. Zach and Vince… That’s why he held this anger towards them. It wasn’t pointless after all. He had every right to steal Zach’s girlfriends. They took his mother away when they didn’t even knew him. How could they? How could they do something so horrible? I knew his mother; she was a brilliant person. One day, I heard from some girls’ whispers that she died. I couldn’t believe it, but it was true. It was f*cking true.

Everett hadn’t showed up for almost two weeks. I knew something was going on. He never skips school for more than a period, unless it’s something of primary importance. This time, I bet it was really serious. What could it be? I really have no idea. I guess I should go investigate myself.
Our English teacher, Mrs. Gerald was absent due to some illness. That meant we wouldn’t have lesson for approximately a week. Great.
I seized the chance to go visit Everett. I wanted to check if he was okay. I’ve heard from some girls that his mother died but I don’t believe in rumors; 99% of the time they’re wrong. People say things just to gain attention; someone may say that Everett’s mother is dead just to attract all the attention.
On the other hand, this is a little bit too excessive. I mean, people usually don’t go that far to be popular. They can push people down so they can be up but still; say that someone else’s mother is dead? That’s really childish and stu.pid.
I walked out of the school slowly, so I won’t be seen by anyone. I only had my handbag with me, in which I had put my cell phone, some cosmetics and a headband. Today, I was wearing a pair of red jeans, white shirt with blue stripes and black Toms. My hair was tossed on a messy bun I made a few minutes ago.
I walked across the pavement, my eyes glued on the ground. I knew exactly how to go to Everett’s house. I know I haven’t been in there, but who talked about the outside? I had come a few times but just stood outside because I was too much of a coward to actually knock. So I stayed outside, watching the house till I got sleepy or bored and left.
After ten minutes of endless walking, I found his house. I looked around. The street was completely dead; of course. It’s 11 am, everybody’s working. I must be the only one who’s out here, except for Everett as well.
I found my way to his garden. I walked across the small path and went to his porch. I stood beside the door, scared as f*ck. My hands were shaking as I pressed the doorbell. The door opened and I saw his father, Mrs. Randers, dressed up in black. My eyes widened. No, it can’t be.
“Hello, Miss Jensen” his father greeted me. I noticed a weird tone in his voice. Now I’m really sure something’s going on.
“Good day Mr. Randers. I came here to ask for Everett. He hasn’t showed up at school for weeks now and…”
“Who the f*ck is it now, huh?” I heard a voice shouting from the inside of the house. My spine trembled as I recognized Everett’s voice. I haven’t heard his voice so angry before. Is it so wrong I came by to see him?
“What the f*ck do you want?” he hissed dangerously the moment he arrived at the porch.
“Uhh.. I–I came to s–see you…” I stuttered, feeling my knees weak.
“What? Are you curious? Well, yes! My mother is dead! Are you happy now? GO TELL EVERYONE YOU WHO.RE” he shouted on my face, throwing his arms to the sky.
I felt my eyes filling with tears. “I was just worried about you” I whispered. My breath hitched and a small tear rolled down my cheek. I wiped it off quickly and ran away, wind in my hair. I looked back and saw him being completely off–guard and surprised. I guess you didn’t expect that. Right, Everett? Surprise.

I shook my head, bringing up this memory. I have been trying to forget about that day for years but I don’t succeed. I guess it meant a lot to me.
Everett caught my attention by snapping two fingers in front of my eyes. “You drifted off again” he said, smiling at me.
“Sorry” I murmured.
“So…” he trailed off, looking at me.
“How?” I just asked.
“How?” he repeated, confused.
“How did it happen, Everett? I’m sure you know” I said, sitting on the empty bleachers.
He took his seat next to me. He let out a deep breath before beginning his story.
“Zach and Vince used to be invisible to me. We were together on the team, yeah, but we hardly ever spoke. I had Bryan and Jake instead. Anyway, we had this party one Saturday. I didn’t go because I had just broken up with Teddy –you know Teddy Anderson– and I wasn’t in the mood for parties, so I stayed home. My dad was out of town working so I was all alone. It was almost 1 am when the police officers called and…told me my mother had had an accident and was killed” he murmured.
I blinked. Then, without second thought, I pulled him in for a hug. I felt his arms wrapping around me so tight, my breath caught up on my throat. I didn’t do anything about it. I didn’t mind at all. Instead, I ran my hands though his hair, trying to comfort him.
“There’s more” he said, pulling away and looking at me.
“You don’t have to tell me if you’re not ready” I whispered, giving him a gentle smile.
“I want you to know” he insisted.
“Okay then” I nodded. “I’m ready to listen”.

Sorry to end it like this but this chapter is big enough, I couldn't afford more mystery! :P I hope you liked it! If you wanna be notified, comment below :) Xoxo, Fay (:
"He is bad news..."
Chapter 25
“No”.
We all turned around to Everett who was about to start beating them up to death.
“What?” I asked, almost whispering.
“You’re not going with him” he repeated, looking at me.
“Who are you to tell her what to do, huh? Why don’t you just stay out of this?” Sienna snapped at him, shaking her head.
“I think Vince and Evelyn are a great match” Zach mocked Everett right in the face. Ouch.
“She’s a good girl, why would she wanna hang out with as.s.holes?” Everett hissed, giving him a dangerous glare.
“Say that to yourself” Vince stepped in, grabbing me towards him.
I shot him a warning look and he let go. I turned to Sienna. “Sorry but I don’t think I’m going to the prom”. I gave Everett a knowing look that seemed to calm him down a bit.
“Come on, Vince is so cool! I spent a whole week to find you a date and you won’t accept him?” she cried, tilting her head.
I sighed, defeated. “Fine, I’ll go to the prom”.
“With Vince, right?” she said, a bright smile on her face.
I shot him a quick glance, noticing the way his bright blue orbs were looking over at me. “With Vince”.
She gave me a hug. “Thanks, it means a lot to me! I’ll come tomorrow and pick you up, we’ll go shopping!” she said, excited.
“Okay” I murmured.
“Take care, bye!” she smiled, walking away with Zach by her side and Vince walking behind them.
I let out a breath. Everett hasn’t said a word ever since Sienna announced who my date is. I looked over at him; he was so pale white and his blue sapphire orbs were widened, as if he saw a ghost. I took his hand but he pulled away quickly, as if electricity hit him. I gave him a questioning look but he closed my locker and took me to some empty football field.
“Promise me you won’t go with him” he murmured.
I was so confused. “Look, I know you have all this competition with him, but who knows, he may be not that bad”.
“Just promise me” he insisted.
“No” I denied.
“Why not?”
I took a deep breath. “I know you have all this competition with Zach about girls and all. But Vince is something else; he has nothing to do with that. Okay, maybe he is Zach’s best friend. However, his character may be different, you don’t…”
“My mother died when I was in freshman year” he cut me off. “Do you remember that?”
I nodded. “Yeah, but what does your mother’s death have to do with Zach and Vince?” I asked, confused.
“The policeman said two teenage boys were driving the car that collided with hers” he explained.
I was still confused. What’s the meaning of all this?
“And?”

He took a deep breath, staring at the ground beneath us. “These two teenagers were Zachary Bowers and Vincent Cole”.

Hey babes! Looks like Everett isn't as bad as we all thought... Hope you liked this chapter! Thanks to everyone who supports my story! "He is bad news..."
Chapter 24
It was Friday now. I had just arrived at school. I was wearing a pair of white Toms, black skinny jeans and a white designer blouse. My hair was loose and my make–up light. I made my way to my locker and opened it, grabbing my books. I got everything I needed but noticed it was still early, so I fixed my hair and checked my make–up. A few minutes later, I saw Everett approaching me.
“Hey” I smiled, but turned to the mirror.
“Hey” he replied, standing beside me. “What are you doing?”
“Checking my make–up” I simply said.
“You don’t need make–up” he claimed, wrapping his arms around me from behind.
“That’s cute and all but you need to let go” I murmured, slapping his hands off.
“Why” he pouted.
I turned around and saw his face. I took it in my hands and kissed his cheek, laughing. When I let go, he was smiling. No, correction: smirking. Of course, we’re talking about Everett here.
“So, are you going to the prom?” he asked.
“Probably not. Sienna hasn’t found a date yet and the prom is tomorrow” I stated, frowning.
“Let’s go together” he suggested.
My eyes widened. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah. I have never been on a prom, I wanna see how it is” he said, smiling playfully.
I choked. “You haven’t been on one single prom?”
“If you count that prom in 6th grade, then I have” he laughed.
“That’s ridiculous! I’m sure lots of girls would love to go with you” I said.
“I know” he smirked.
“You’re so stupid, Everett!” I whined, rolling my eyes.
“I’m your stupid” he said with a soft smile.
“I don’t want you, go away” I smirked.
“No, you’re stuck with me”.
“Joy” I teased him.
He laughed. “You're crazy”.
“So are you” I cried, pointing at his nose.
He laughed harder, leaning against the wall.
My smile disappeared. “Do you know who Sienna’s date will be?”
He shook his head.
“Promise you won’t do anything crazy” I said.
He stood up. “No. Just tell me”.
“Zach”.
His eyes widened. “Zach aka Zachary Bowers?”
I nodded.
“No f/ucking way” he hissed.
Someone walked by. “Hello there guys! Everett? What are you doing here?” Sienna asked. Zach was here too, holding hands with her and smirking at Everett who seemed ready to start punching him to death.
“I found a date for you!” she interjected, looking over at me.
“Who is it?” I asked, curious. Next to me, Everett’s face twisted.
“Hello” a deep voice said. A boy with black messy hair and deep, blue eyes appeared. He had the same height as Everett but he looked mysterious.
“H–Hi” I murmured, stumbled by his disposition and aura.
“Vincent, this is Evelyn. Evelyn, this is Vincent” Sienna said, smiling.
Wait.
Did she say Vincent? Aka Vincent Coles?
“You f/ucking can’t” Everett cursed under his breath.
Oh, no. This is bad.

Hey there cupcakes! New chappyyyy. Sorry for the delays but I'm on vacation and finding wifi can be a bit challenging haha. Chapter 23
I couldn’t concentrate on the lesson. I had been thinking about Zach and his attitude. I was at my History class, drifted away as always. When the class was over, I received a nudge from Sienna. She looked over at me, raising her eyebrow. “What’s up with you? You have been in your own world for the past two periods” she murmured, standing up.
I stood up as well and gathered my things. “It’s nothing, Sienna. Don’t worry about it”.
She looked at me again. “Are you sure?”
“Yes” I lied. I hated lying to her. She’s my best friend and I should tell her about my conversation with Zach. I didn’t want to upset her, though. She looked so happy; she really liked Zach. Who am I to ruin it?
Her best friend, Smart–pants.
I rolled my eyes and stormed out of the classroom. Sienna followed me quickly. “Something’s up. Tell me, I’m your best friend!” she whined, tapping my arm.
“I told you, it’s no big deal” I said, making my way to the exit. Once I was out, I exhaled deeply, feeling relieved.
“So, something DID happen! And you’re not telling me?” she seemed really upset.
“No, nothing happened. Really. Everything’s fine” I assured her. Huge lie, of course. Huge, huge lie. I shouldn’t be lying to her, but I couldn’t say anything. I wasn’t quite sure of Zach’s motives of dating her. I had to be sure first before saying a word. Of course, the first to say is gonna be Everett. He knows Zach better than anybody.
To be more specific, let’s flashback to Everett’s past. So basically, Everett has two major enemies. One is Zachary Bowers and the other is Vincent Cole. He hated those guys so much and the feeling is mutual. I don’t know what happened between them but rumors said that Zach used to date a girl and that girl cheated on him with Everett and they hated each other ever since. Vincent is Zach’s best friend and just like best friends do, Vince stuck up for Zach and grew hate for Everett as well.
This happened during freshman year, which is almost four years ago. They have been competitive against each other for four years now. When Zach gets a new girlfriend, Everett does his best to distract her. Everett doesn’t date much, which is a plus. I wonder why Zach asked Sienna out.
Of course! He wants to get back at him by hurting his sister! Oh dear Lord. I can’t believe him!
“Hey beautiful” I heard someone murmuring.
I literally jumped up and saw Zach hugging Sienna from behind. She smiled and giggled softly, looking at him. Her look was weird. Oh, no. She likes him. She adores him. Poor Sienna. I must talk to her right away. She can’t live in a lie.
He turned her around and kissed her on the lips. I looked away with disgust. How awful is this guy? I groaned and rolled my eyes. He then pulled her in for a hug and gave me a smirk.
I felt my blood boiling.
You’re so going down, Zachary Bowers.

Hey loves! I'm sorry if this is a boring chapter but I'm in the middle of a crisis! Literally! Things have happened and I'm really upset so I'm sorry, really.

Chapter 22
“How is the ‘Seeking Date for Evelyn’ operation going?” I asked Sienna as I sat down on a cafeteria table.
“Good! If everything goes right, you’ll meet him tomorrow” she announced, a bright smile on her face.
“Who are you going with?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
Her cheeks burned as she looked away. Oh, no. This isn’t a good sign. “Sienna? Who is it?” I asked again, looking closely at her.
“Zach” she blurted out.
My eyes widened. “No, Sienna! You’re NOT going with Zachary Bowers!” I hissed, narrowing my eyes at her.
“What’s your problem anyway?” she asked me rudely.
“He’s a player, Sienna. I don’t want you to get your heart broken” I explained softly.
“I can take pretty good care of myself” she retorted and stood up, leaving the cafeteria.
I watched Zach standing up from the other side of the room and walking to my table. What? Is he going to run after her or something? Annoyed, I rolled my eyes and grabbed my tray, leaving the table quickly. I walked to the litter bin to dispose of the food I didn’t eat but he chased after me instead.
“What do you want, Bowers?” I asked, eyeing him suspiciously.
“Rude much?” he smirked, leaning against the wall.
“Get lost” I hissed, leaving the tray on a counter and walking away.
“Come on babe, don’t be so aggressive” he called, grabbing my arm.
“Babe?” I asked, with a confused look on my face.
“Yeah” he confirmed with a weird smile on his face.
“You don’t even like her” I murmured, storming out of the cafeteria.
“Who, Sienna? Oh, I do. What’s not to like?” he said in an abortive attempt to provoke me.
“You wouldn’t make the best actor, Zachary. Trust me” I said, trying to walk away.
He grabbed me by the waist and pulled me backwards. “At least I’m trying, sweetheart”.
“Why did you even ask her out, Zach?” I asked, turning around and narrowing my eyes at him.
“I have my reasons” he smirked and walked away.
I shook my head.
Sienna’s in big trouble.

Chapter 21
I had just left my last period before lunch and was now heading to the cafeteria, when someone grabbed my arm. I was about to shout when I saw Everett holding me. He led me to a quiet corner in the library, before deciding to speak.
“What did Sienna told you about me?”
I gave him a confusing look. “Why are you so eager to know?”
“I just wanna know” he said, shrugging.
“She thinks you’re bad news” I just said.
“I’m sure there’s more. Spit them out” he demanded, looking down at me.
“Well, she told me I shouldn’t hang out with you because you’re messing with cops and drug dealers. Also, she told me I’m too good for you” I told him, looking him in the eye.
“That’s true” he admitted.
“What? That I’m too good for you?”
He nodded.
“I couldn’t care less about this, Everett. I just…” I trailed off.
No.
Don’t spit those three little words out.
It’ll be just a disaster.
No.
“You just…?” he asked, looking at me closely.
“I just like you, that’s all” I lied, playing it all cool.
He looked weird. I looked at his face closely. I noticed a sign of anger, worry and… disappointment?
“I do too” he said quickly. “So, who are you going to the prom with?” he changed the subject.
“I dunno. I bet Sienna hasn’t even started looking” I answered, rolling my eyes. “Are you going?”
“Nah. It’ll be no fun” he said.
“Why not?” I wondered.
“Because I wanna go with you” he just said.
I couldn’t help but feel honored. He was just a bad*ss to most of the girls’ eyes. The heartbreaker –the leader is Zach, of course–, the cheater –with Zach being still on top of the category– and the careless boyfriend. He seemed different to me, though. Rumors are so wrong.
“I wish we could go together” I sighed, looking away.
“I’ll go with you to this prom one way or another” he said steadily.
“Why are you so cute, Everett?” I murmured.
His eyes widened, just like mine. “I said that out loud, didn’t I?” I asked, my cheeks turning red. I was so sure I just thought of that.
He nodded, cracking a smile. He pulled me closer by my waist and brushed his lips against mine. “If you don’t stop calling me cute, I won’t kiss you ever again” he threatened me, smirking.
“A.ss.hole” I laughed, pulling away.
“Come back!” he cried, grasping onto my hand.
“I can’t resist, I wanna call you cute all the time!” I teased him.
He brushed the hair off my face and laughed. “Call me cute one more time and I…”
“You what? You’re so cute to do anything” I said, smirking.
“I’m…”
“You’re cute, cute, cu…”
He kissed me before I could even say that word one more time. He had a right, though. You can’t call cute someone who drives a Maserati, has like four tattoos and messes up with drug dealers. I still loved it, though. His attitude towards me had changed lately. He reminded me of that kind boy I was hanging out during primary school. He reminded me of the boy I fell for.

And I was falling for again.

Chapter 20
“Prom?” I asked, closing my locker.
“Yes! Are you going?” she asked me back, having an ear–to–ear smile on her face.
“No way” I said, rolling my eyes.
“Why not? It’ll be fun!” she whined.
Because you’ll never let me go with who I wanna.
“Because I don’t have a date” I lied.
“Oh, that? Don’t worry, I know plenty of guys who would DIE to come with you” she said, giving me a prideful smile.
I rolled my eyes. “I’m not in the mood for proms”.
“You’re a senior! You still have like…three proms to go to. And then it’ll be over. I think you should enjoy it. You win nothing just by staying at home, watching old chick flicks and being miserable” she claimed, following me as I walked to my first period, which by the way was History. Ew.
“I told you, I don’t want to go. Who would wanna go with me?” I tried one more time, even though I knew she would do anything to convince me. She was that stubborn.
“I’ll find someone” she assured me.
“I don’t wanna go with a geek, please” I rolled my eyes, pressing my books against my chest for protection.
“You won’t go with a geek, I promise. It’s my first prom here and I wanna have my friend by my side. Do I ask for too much?” she tried one more time, giving me her best puppy–eyed look.
I gasped and gritted my teeth. “Fine. But find someone good” I warned her.
“I will, don’t worry!” she cheered, clapping her hands.
“You will what?” someone asked.
Sienna and I both jumped, staring at Everett who had just joined the conversation.
“I will find a good prom date for Evelyn” she announced, proud.
Not to Everett, Sienna. Please.
“Prom date?” he asked, looking over at me.
“Yes” I said, voice cracking. I didn’t want you to find out that way.
“I can be your date” he said, flashing me a faint smile.
I felt my face burning on his suggestion. I opened my mouth to say ‘Yes’, but Sienna grabbed my arm.
“No way, Everett. I don’t want my best friend to hang out with people like you” she retorted and walked away, pulling me with her as well.
I gave an apologetic look to Everett before turning to Sienna, who looked pretty mad. “Is everything okay?” I asked her, concerned.
She stopped. “I don’t want you to hang out with Everett, Evelyn” she told me.
I froze. “Why are you telling me this?”
“He gets chased by cops; he’s messing with drug dealers… It’s dangerous, Evelyn. You’re too good for him” she explained.
“What’s your point, Sienna?” I asked, feeling so confused.
“He’s bad news… Don’t go for him”.
I nodded. “I won’t”.
She just smiled and walked away, not asking me more. Whoa, I expected more. How come she believed me so fast?
God, was she gullible.

"He is bad news..."
Chapter 19
“Sienna!” I said, opening the door again.
She gave me a weird look. “Why did you close the door?”
“I remembered I had left the bathroom door open” I explained, laughing weakly. “What are you doing here?”
“Cops crushed the party. I had to get away” she explained fast, walking inside the house casually.
“Sienna, how exactly did you do that? You didn’t drive while being drunk, did you?” I asked her carefully, following her to the kitchen.
“Of course not! Zach drove me” she spat out, leaning against the refrigerator.
“Who’s Zach?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Zach aka Zachary Bowers, don’t tell me you don’t know him” she said, rolling her eyes and gasping.
Zachary Bowers… Oh, I knew him. He was the leader of the football team. Worst boyfriend, as girls say. Rumors have it that he used to date with Chloe Wright but he dumped her. He was your typical heartbreaker. Chocolate brown hair, bright green eyes and an athletic body, not to mention his cute characteristics, is what made him famous around girls. He wasn’t the ‘dating’ type. He was a dou.che, if you ask me. He thought he owned everything and everyone. Using someone was what he could do best. He was using everyone shameless. Yeah, he was such a lovely boy. Yikes.
“I do. Why are you hanging out with him?” I asked her, walking closer to her.
“I don’t. He was all around me last night” she admitted, blushing.
I made her drink a glass of water and walked her to the living room. We sat down quietly. She looked weird. Not her clothes, but the expression on her face. I need to know what happened to this party. She’s my friend, I care about her.
“He’s really nice” she said, as if she was trying to convince herself.
“No, Sienna” I told her. “He’s no good”.
“I like him” she said, looking straight into my eyes.
“He’ll only break your heart, Sienna” I explained with my ‘special’ soft voice.
She was about to say something, when a weird noise sounded. My face turned pale and I stood up.
“Where are you going?” Sienna whined.
“I’ll be right back!” I almost shouted, storming out of the living room and running down the hallway. I reached the bathroom door and opened it. I found Everett on the floor, picking up some things. I closed the door behind me and looked at him.
“What did you do?” I hissed, whispering.
“I wanted to see these cra.ppy things and they fell down. It’s not my fault. Your things slip” he explained, picking up my things and handing them to me.
“Look, Sienna’s inside. She’s a bit drunk and she’ll probably sleep over here, which means you really have to go” I explained fast, still whispering. “There’s a door…”
“Wait. Sienna’s drunk?” he asked, raising his eyebrows.
“Yes” I said.
“Then, how did she get here?” he questioned me, still curious.
“Zach drove her”.
“Zach?”
“Zach aka Zachary Bowers” I quoted, rolling my eyes.
“If he did anything to her, I’m gonna kill him” Everett hissed, gritting his teeth.
I felt a sting of jealousy. I rolled my eyes and didn’t say a thing. It’s insane to be jealous of Sienna. They’re brother and sister now. Who knows, brothers and sisters of that kind end up together sometimes, I thought. I stared at my feet. Let’s hope this doesn’t happen here too.
“Everything ok?” Everett asked, walking closer to me and putting his hands on my arms.
“Yes” I mumbled, releasing myself from his grip.
He grinned. “Don’t tell me you’re jealous”.
“Jealous of who?” I scoffed.
“Sienna” he said.
“Of course not”.
“You are” he said, his grin growing bigger.
“I said no!” I protested.
“I wouldn’t leave you for anyone” he just said, looking me in the eyes.
I smiled. “Really?”
“Yes”.
I gave him a quick kiss on the lips before asking: “What now?”
“I’ll use this window to leave” he explained.
“No! What if the cops find you?” I asked, my heart racing in my chest.
“Nah, they won’t find me. They’re too stupid to do so. Plus, my dad knows every cop in the police station; I always get away with everything I do” he said carelessly.
“Yes but still, don’t leave. We’ll find another solution. Wait here” I murmured, exiting the room carefully.
I closed the door behind me, when a voice behind me sounded. “What were you doing in there for like… twenty minutes?” Sienna asked me, putting her hands on her waist.
“N–N–Nothing! I was, just, ummm, chasing cats away?” I stuttered, my eyes widening. Sh*t, sh*t. You f*cked it up, Evelyn. Well done.
“Evelyn, what’s going on?” Sienna asked me again, more suspicious this time.
“Nothing” I claimed, trying to keep calm.
“Then, you wouldn’t mind if I checked the bathroom, would you?” Sienna asked, walking to the bathroom door.
“N–No” I stuttered again. I was stuttering too much, I really should stop it.
She turned the handle and began to open the door. My heart was pounding on my chest. If she found Everett in there, we would both be screwed. When she finally opened the door, no one was in the room. God, how did he leave? How did he…
Sienna walked into the room in shock. “I’m sure I heard…” she whispered.
I smiled a confident smile. I saw a note on the floor, written on a toilet paper. I can’t believe Everett did that. I grabbed it and read it.

‘I left from the window. Take care of Sienna. See you tomorrow, princess.
Everett.’

I threw the paper on the trash and smiled again.
That was close.
