I'm not saying you can't learn anything. I'm saying, if you want to learn something, you have to apply yourself to do it. School teaches you the basics of education. Not how to live life. School teaches you what you need in order to get into college. College gives you the education to get degrees so you can have a nice job. How does falling in love, talking a depressed friend out suicide, and balancing a check book have to do with school. Go to a bank. Ask them how to balance a check book. My mom works at a bank and is willing to teach you. She teaches lots of young adults that don't know how to. Simple as that.

I just woul like to say that I'm not pathetic, and that you don't even know me. I don't understand how people can call others names such as pathetic when you've never even spoken to the person. It's just funny and quite ironic because I don't rely on other people to learn basics, but, you know, you can just say that I do because you know me so well. You're not even worth my time. I'm officially done with this and you, so that's it. I'm not even going to give you the time of day. I'm gonna be the bigger person and just say I hope everything ends up good for you, because even though I really don't like you, everyone deserves to be happy. Have a nice day / week / month / life.

Well that's life sweetheart. Not everything will be fair. Lots of successful people have had bad home lifes, that doesn't mean they were just handed everything because they're parents weren't there.

Did I ever say to hand them everything on a silver platter? No. "Lots of successful people" are rare occurrence in which this happens. What I'm trying to say is that without learning things at school, where else are they going to learn it? Schools need to teach things that can actually be useful in life, as well as other things. I'm not saying that the quadratic formula isn't important, I'm just saying balancing a checkbook is important too, but it isn't taught in schools.

This is 100% false. Yes we learned world history, mathematics, english. all the main things of education. but balancing a check book, talking to a depressed friend, how to fall in love. That's something you learn yourself, school isn't going to teach you everything. No one said it was going to be easy. Not everything will be taught to you or handed down to you. You're going to have to be a young adult and figure it out yourself. Schools aren't required to teach you the basics of living. That's something you learn yourself.

Balancing a checkbook should be taught in school. Do you want to know why? I know people at my school who don't have anything. They have absolutely nothing. Where are they ever going to learn to balance a checkbook? Their parents? No. They're in jail. The Internet? They don't have enough money for it. Schools need to teach more basics for people who don't have access to everything that you might have, because not everyone can learn the basics of living themselves.
