I swear that almost every person my age is shallow-minded and
ignorant.
Stop doing your hair. Stop wailing because you aren't married
to Harry Styles. Stop complaining because your boyfriend broke up
with you, and look.
This society is fucked, how can you not see that? I've spent my
life avoiding the idealistic views that everybody seems to have
adopted. I'll give you a classic example: I don't know how
many of you know this, but the cartoon My Little Pony (the remake
from 2010) managed to get itself a FUCKING MASSIVE internet
fanbase, mostly consisting of males aged 15+. How many of you
raised your eyebrows and asked why the hell a guy would watch it,
let alone a guy in his teens? How many laughed, and immediately
thought that if you ever met one of these people, you'd be
judging them endlessly?
Of course you did - because it's an unwritten rule that
guys don't do that. Who the hell says we can't do
what we like? Where is it written that a girl has to be
weak and helpless, she has to be sitting around waiting
for Prince Charming? Where is this statement that a guy needs to be
gentle, and caressing, but manly as hell at the same time?
Where did this rule come from all of a sudden, that a girl who
likes sport and prefers boyish stuff to girly stuff is
obviously a lesbian? Or a more feminine guy is gay?
I'm a lesbian, and I don't fit the first stereotype at all.
I hate sports. I'm not all frou-frou and I hate pink, but I can
certainly have my girlish moments, especially when I fangirl over
red lipstick.
But of course, we all have to act a certain way, don't we? And
anything different is automatically put down as wrong.
Welcome to our generation. I weep for the next, being raised by
people like us.
