Captivated By You
Hey there:) Welcome to my profile. My name is Kate and I am sixteen years old. I classify myself as a hopeless romantic. Even though I am young I've been through too much already. My life is filled with so many wonderful people. My family is very important to me and I admire my father very much. I surround myself with a close group of friends who I can spill my secrets to. I confide in them, as they do with me. My best friend's name is Samantha and I love her like a sister.
I made this account so I could be honest and write about whatever I wanted. That's another thing about me. Writing is like my escape. When I get an idea and I sit down to build on it, I could be writing for hours and never even know it. Many people do not know that about me and I feel like its my own personal secret.

.Chapter 4.
“Great.” I scoffed and followed Nora into the dining room. Everyone was already seated. They all looked up expectantly and literally stared me down. I took a seat across from Nora. Luckily we were near the head of the table so no one was sitting on my right. Plus the seat to my left was still open. Good, I thought, maybe this dinner won’t be so bad after all.
“Good evening everyone.” Miss Robinson announced as she walked in. I glanced at the clock and it was exactly seven o’clock. This woman really doesn’t mess around.
The food was brought in one plate at a time and the seat next to me remained open. I knew Robinson was watching me so I ate slowly, glancing up at Nora every few seconds. She kept giving me reassuring glances that put me somewhat at ease.
The slam of a door made me jump in my seat and drop my fork. It went tumbling under the table. I cursed silently to myself, took a quick look around, then dove down to retrieve it. I heard some commotion above me so I quickly grabbed it and sat back up in my chair.
A boy that looked about my age was entering the room. He had dark hair, light skin, and I noticed a tattoo peeking out from under his t-shirt.
“Richard, I’m glad you could join us.” Her face lit up as she embraced her son. I looked at Nora and she gave me a holy-crap-that’s-him look.
He gave her a quick smile then looked around the table, his eyes finally resting on me.
“And who might this be?” Rich said to his mother but his eyes wouldn’t leave my face.
“Oh,” She said, looking a bit annoyed that he asked about me. “This is Savannah Welsh. She just arrived today.”
Rich nodded and walked over, eyeing up the open seat next to me.
“Do you mind?” He asked, his hand already grasping the chair.
“Uh… no, you can sit there.” I said cautiously. I looked at Nora and her eyes were wide.
“Thanks.” He replied coolly and took a seat.
Dinner continued as if nothing had happened but all I wanted was to bolt from that spot. He watched me the entire time. I think he even watched while he ate which was so disturbing it’s not even funny.
When it was clear everyone was finished I pushed away from the table and headed right for the steps that lead up to my room. Once in front of my door I fumbled with my key and tried to unlock it but was unsuccessful. I pulled the key out and tried again--
“Hey Savannah.” I froze and turned around slowly. Rich was leaning against the wall opposite me. We were only a couple feet apart.
“Um, hi.” I said. My mind reeled with panicked thoughts. What if he managed to get in the room? Would he try anything? Would I even have a chance to get away if I tried?
“Hello? Did you hear what I said?” He asked and I realized I was zoning out.
“N-no, sorry.”
“I said, do you need help with your key.”
“Oh, no I’m fine.” I replied and went to unlock the door. It jammed again and I sighed in frustration.
“Here let me.” He grasped my arm and moved me out of the way. His hand stayed there a little longer than it should have and I almost cringed beneath his touch.
With ease, Richard inserted the key, turned it to the right, and opened my door. He took a few steps inside and slid the key out.
“Thanks.” I mumbled and pushed past him. He lingered in the doorway for a moment then smirked and stepped away so I could close it.
“I hope you like it here, Savannah.” Rich said.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t hold your breath.” I said and slammed the door in his face.

I am so sorry!!!
I haven't written in what feels like forever and I am SO sorry.
I was at a basketball tournament and the stupid hotel didn't have internet access.

Captivated.

.Chapter 2.
I stared out the car window and tried to think about anything besides where I was headed. I wasn’t able to see my parents. They actually forbid it which I think is totally unfair.
Mrs. Robinson was driving and hadn’t said a word to me since we met at that office. I got the feeling she was afraid of me.
The car ride lasted a while but I managed to sleep most of the way. I was a little groggy when we pulled in to the long drive that lead up to the foster home. The building at the top of the hill was gigantic, exactly the opposite of what I was used to living in.
I didn’t want to be here. All I wanted was to go back home, see my parents, and just get my old life back.
“Everyone is waiting inside to meet you.” She said quickly.
“I think I’ll just skip the introduction and head up to my room.” I said and grabbed my bags. I started walking away when she grabbed hold of my arm and yanked me backwards. Almost losing my balance, I stumbled in to the side of the car.
“Are you insane!” I shrieked and rubbed my arm which stung slightly.
“Miss Welsh let me tell you something about how we run things around here.” Her face tightened and her expression became very serious. “You do whatever you are told whenever you are told to do it. There is no special treatment and no exceptions. Do I make myself clear?”
I stared at her for a long time before opening my mouth to speak.
“Crystal.” I smirked and pushed by her making my way up to the front.
I pushed hard against the huge doors, nearly dropping my bags. Once I finally managed to get them open I realized that this place doesn't mess around. When they say everyone they mean everyone.
I shut the doors behind me and shifted uncomfortably under their stares. There were kids of all ages gathered in a semicircle around me. I looked them up and down and noticed their washed out faces. They didn’t look happy, that’s for sure.
“Uh…hi.” I said boldly. No one moved a muscle, they all just stood there and stared.
I heard footsteps coming up behind me. I turned around to see Robinson walking up to us.
“Everyone, I would like you all to meet Savannah Welsh. She will be staying with us for the time being.” She said and I could have sworn I heard her voice become tot and strained when she said my name.
“Wow. What a lively bunch.” I mumbled to myself. Robinson shot me a disapproving look.
“Please make her feel welcome.” She faked a smile then turned to me. “Here is your room key and number. Dinner is at exactly seven. Don't be late.” She eyed me up before turning on her heel and stalking away.
I glanced at the people surrounding me. Most of them had nervous looks on their faces.
“What?” I asked and narrowed my eyes at them.
At that moment they all dispersed in random directions leaving only one, a skinny girl with circles under her eyes that looked about my age.
“It’s Savannah right?” She asked, raising one eye brow.
“Um, Yes.” I nodded.
“My name is Nora.” She said with a small smile. “And welcome to Crayfield!” The tone of her voice told me this place wasn’t full of rainbows and sunshine.
“It’s that bad here huh?” I asked skeptically.
“It’s worse.” Nora said, her face serious.

Captivated.

.Chapter 1.
Yesterday at exactly 9:53 pm they arrested my parents.
No one told me why or what was going to happen to me next. They just told me to wait. The secretary at the front desk kept glancing nervously at me, as if I was going to try something. I watched her squirm under my stare when finally she stood up, gathered a few papers, and rushed out.
I’ve been sitting in the exact same place since they brought me here. I turned over my shoulder to check the clock on the wall. It was five o’clock in the morning and I’ve been here since ten o’clock last night.
I knew I should try to close my eyes and get a little rest but I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep, not after everything that has happened in the past twenty four hours.
I heard the sound of footsteps coming down a hallway off to my left. I sat up a little straighter in my chair, trying to look somewhat presentable.
“Savannah Welsh?” A slim man wearing what looked like a very expensive suit said my name. I stood up without really thinking. I watched as he looked me up and down with a smug look on his face.
“That's—” I started to say but my voice came out hoarse. I cleared my throat and tried again. “That’s me.”
“Come with me please.” He turned and started walking away. I started after him, confused as to what was going on.
“Where are we going?” I asked trying to keep up with him. He didn’t answer and just kept staring straight ahead.
“When can I see my parents?” I asked again hoping to get some kind of reply.
“Your parents committed a felony. They are in more trouble than you can understand. You’re lucky they aren’t charging you with association.” He spat.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” I rolled my eyes but kept my pace with him.
“Believe me, I wish I wasn’t. This situation is more complicated than you think.” He stopped walking very abruptly and shuffled me in to what looked like an office. There was a woman lounging in a chair on the opposite side of the room and a tall, built man sitting at a desk. I heard the door slam behind me. I looked over my shoulder, seeing that the man that lead me here was gone.
“What’s going on?” I asked, glancing at both people.
“Hello Miss Welsh, I’m Ella Robinson.” The woman that was sitting in the chair stood and shook hands with me.
“Um hi…” I said hesitantly.
“Savannah my name is Dan Wallace.  I’m sure you would like to be told what is happening here.” The man from the desk said.
“Yeah.” I scoffed and crossed my arms. “That’s be nice.”
I saw them both exchange skeptical glances then turn their attention back to me.
“Alright listen.” I said, annoyed. “Last night I was literally dragged out of my house and I have been sitting on that damn bench for hours now. So tell me straight and don’t you dare sugar coat it. Get to the freaking point.”
They were obviously both surprised by my outburst but I didn’t care at all.
The big man sighed before he spoke.
“Alright then, Savannah your parents are facing a twenty year or more sentence in federal prison. There are no visitation rights and since you have no immediate relatives willing to take you in, we have no choice to put you in a foster home.”
You’ve got to be kidding me.

Captivated.

.Prologue.

The streets of Atlanta, Georgia are all  Savannah Welsh has ever known. She has lived there her entire life. These streets you could say, have become a part of her.  However her life gets turned upside down when both of her parents are arrested for drug activity and Savannah is forced in to a foster home.
Weeks go by when finally, the Rivers come knocking and decide to adopt her. But this family is nothing close to what Savannah is used to. They are preppy, filthy rich, and so uptight it is disgusting. While she drags through her junior year at Monmouth High, one of the richest schools in the state, Savannah realizes very quickly that this is not where she belongs. She desperately misses her old friends, her old school, and wants nothing more than to just be able to be herself again.
Savannah was born and brought up in an entirely different lifestyle and the person they were trying to turn her into was someone she didn’t wanted to be. Along the way Savannah comes to confide in very few people, some of which being a boy she never thought she would fall for and a few new friends that actually accept her for who she is. Can she conform to her new family’s ways and rules without losing herself? Or will she always be judged for where she came from rather than who she is.
