The Stolen
It all
started back in sophmore year.
I was walking to the lacross field with my friend Charlie.
We had to pass by the softball field, where all the girls were in
short and jerseys and hats.
Playing softball of course.
Being guys we were checking them all out, but my eye got caught
on Megan.
She was about 5'5" and she maybe weighed 115 lbs.
She had long blonde hair down to her butt, but it was pulled back
in a ponytail and was coming through the back of her hat.
I yelled her name getting her to look at me.
"What, Chase?" she yelled back, giving me a smile.
"I'll meet you by the locker rooms after practice."
I yelled back, winking.
"Maybe." she yelled back, challenging me.
I dropped my gear, ran over flung her over my should, and strated
tickling her.
"Chase. Chase." she kept shrieking.
"Marono. Put her down." coach Quin yelled at me.
So I set her down, kissed her cheek and went off to practice.
That's how I met my beautiful girlfriend of 4 years.
We're still together now, even though we're both 19 now
and we have an apartment together, it's still like the first
time I saw her.
I woke up early this morning, because I've been recruited to
go fight in Iraq.
She's up and out of bed, helping me do some last minute
packing.
You can see the tears swelling in her eyes as I walk towards the
door.
"Baby, it'll be okay." I said, hugging her.
Her tears finally spilled over, "I know."
I looked her in the eyes, "Baby, I'll be back sooner
than you know. I promise."
"Six months isn't soon." she said, wiping her tears
away.
"I'll call and email as much as they'll let me. I
swear. Don't worry." I assured her.
"I know you will. I know you will." she said,
trying to reassure herself.
I picked up her left hand, and kissed her engagement ring.
"I'll be back to say I do in no time." I
whispered.
She stood on her tippy-toes and kissed me.
Eventually she had to pull away, and when she did, she held on to
me for dear life.
I wrapped my arms around her, and kissed her head.
"I love you, Megan."
"I love you, too." she mumbled into my
chest.
