Morning Dew: The Prologue

The dew embalmed the grass in ice as the cool late morning air rang my skin taut.

I never was really able wake up early enough when it was warm to see the dew glitter like my older sister used to. She'd tell me stories of how it would sparkle like millions of crystals on her way to the park to meet her friends on early morning adventures. That's how she always was-- searching for new adventures. I miss her. It's not like I can't ever see her again but she's fighting the good fight I guess. She's an agent of intelligence and it's nothing like what you see in the movies. I'll be the first to tell you; it is uglier and inescapable. I was really never sure of where she'd been in those days and I'm certain I don't know where she is today. The last time she wrote me, she assured me she was somewhere sunny; someplace we'd both enjoy.

On second thought, it's cold days like this one that I feel like she lives the summer dream and I'm stuck in a wintry nightmare.
