My dearest
readers,
I apologize for the wait. Not only have I had severe
writers block for the fast like...10 weeks, I have also been
super busy. I have school, homework, soccer, and
cheerleading and it leaves like...no time for me to write.
I don't have very much free-time anymore.
I apologize,
Sophie
Give Me Another Chance
chapter five
I
woke up the next morning in my bed, hoping the previous night had
been just a dream. My world came crashing down when my mom
came into my room, bags under her eyes, red from tears.
"Good morning sweetie," she said, forcing a
smile. "Morning mom," I smiled, trying to comfort
her. She just walked out of my room as though she were a
ghost that could blow away at any moment. Today was
November 20th, my dads birthday, one year from the day he
died. I looked up at my ceiling and said, "Happy 31st
birthday, Dad," I said. My parents had me when they
were 15. That's why Lacey is so much younger than
me. Unlike most teen parents, they didn't struggle at
all. Both sets of my grandparents are very wealthy.
And unlike most teen parents, they got married, had another kid,
and stayed together until one died. My mom still goes by
our last name and still wears her wedding ring. I walked
downstairs to see a piece of toast with peanut butter on
it. My mom must have been even more upset than I thought
she was; she didn't even make me breakfast. I sighed
and ate it. "Summer, I'm taking the day off from
work to stay with Lacey and I'm bringing her with us,"
my mom said. I turned to her to see Lacey sleeping in her
arms and nodded.
Once again, Cal wasn't waiting for me at my locker when I got
to school. I waited for him, then decided it was hopeless
and went to first period. By lunch time I still hadn't
seen him, or Payton for that matter. I sat down with some
other friends, took a couple bite from my pizza, then excused
myself. I was going to go look for them. I had
searched every hallway and was about to give up, when I remember
one hallway that wasn't used anymore. Since our school
had been totally rebuilt, you had to go through the teachers
bathroom to get to this one hallway. I tested the handle on
the one-person bathroom to make sure no one was in there, then
walked through. I slowly opened the door, just in case
there was anyone in the hallway. What I was broke my
heart. No, it shattered it into a million
pieces.
Payton was kissing Cal, Cal was kissing back. And when I
say kissing, I mean tongue in the mouth, Payton's legs
wrapped around Cal's waist, Cal pushing Payton's back
into the lockers, full on make out. My best friend and my
boyfriend. A small whimper escaped from my throat and
Payton turned her head towards me, eyes wide, but Cal continued
to kiss along her jaw line. "Oh my God, Summer,"
Payton said, and this time Cal looked up. Tears were
forming in my eyes. "Sum..." Cal said, but I
began talking. "By the way guys, we found out Lacey
probably has cancer. Cal, you can have Payton.
I'm done with you," I said, turning on my heel before
they could answer. I ran into a student bathroom and called
my mom, still crying, and told her to pick me up. She said
she would be there in 30 minutes. I stayed in the bathroom
until my mom called me to say she was there. I ran out of
the bathroom and plowed into who other than Ray. I just
kept walking to the front doors. When I saw our small black
car, I broke into a sprint and threw open the door, jumping
in. "Honey?" my mom said. I gasped for
breath through my tears. "Cal. Cheated," I
said. She shook her head said, "Sum, I'm
sorry." I shook my head, then said, "And it was
with Payton." She reached over, keeping one hand on
the wheel, and stroked my brown hair.
Give Me Another Chance
chapter two
"Summer!" my mom called. "Fall, Winter, Spring," I said boredly. I looked at my clock. 7:15, breakfast time, and my mom always made the best breakfasts. I painted the last toenail, then ran downstairs wearing. a pair of skinny jeans, a blue v-neck, and one of Cal's sweatshirts in my hand. "What's for breakfast, mother dearest?" I asked. She smiled at me, not looking up from her hands, which she was washing. "Chocolate chip pancakes," she said, motioning towards a plate with two steaming flapjacks on it. "Yay," I smiled. "What's going on today?" she asked, wiping her hands dry on her pants. "I have a World History test," I said with my mouth full. "Sum, don't talk with your mouth full." I rolled my eyes and said, "Sorry Mom," which came out as "Sorr Om." She laughed at me, then said, "Go get in the car. Don't want to be late for school.
