People label me all the time,
But Im just myself.
My own unique person.
And thats all.

Chapter 6.<3
After all the names were called, we were told what we’d be
discussing this year. Afterwards, everyone was loudly talking
about their classes.
Suddenly, I felt hot air in my
ear.
“Hi.”
I knew that voice.
I smiled and blushed, and turned to face
Dustin. He was even more gorgeous up close.
Staring straight into his eyes, I found
confidence.
“Hey.”

I thought only of him.
The way his green eyes seemed to stare
straight into my soul. They cut through, weakening me. The way
his hair fell as a mop on top of his head, poking out in all
directions, and how it fell over his face when he looked down. I
even pictured the way the corners of his mouth rose into a
smile.
His smile…
It made chills shiver throughout my
spine.
It was after people started to stand up that
I noticed the bell rang. Dreadfully, I put my book away and left
the room. In the hall, people were rushing as usual. I looked
everywhere for him that day, but I didn’t see
him…that is, until I got to last period.
The seats were set in alphabetical order. I
half hoped that he’d end up next to me, but I also half
hoped he didn’t, because I’d be at a loss for
words.
Finally my teacher called my
name.
“Dezerre
Moon?”
“Yes?” I said
shyly.
“Over here, third row.” He
ordered.
Reluctantly, I picked up my book bag and sat
down next to a girl whose name I couldn’t
remember.
A few more names were called, but then it
came to him.
“Dustin Rye?”
Dustin Rye. I blushed.
He sat in the row behind me. I looked back,
and his seat was directly behind mine. Great, he’ll get a
nice view of my back.

Chapter 4.<3
I told myself repeatedly it was my fault. If I hadn’t been
bothered by the thread I would’ve noticed the truck sooner.
And that little girl... her mom never made it. Christie always
tells me it wasn’t my fault, and to be thankful that we
both had made it. I hate myself more every day because of that
incident.
I stopped myself there. Incident was an
understatement.
I hate myself more and more every day because
of that tragedy.
I looked around.
Everyone had their books out and was reading.
I took my paperback book out and began to get lost in the
pages.
Somewhere in the hallway, I heard a few guys
talking, and one of them laughed. I pulled my nose out of the
book and stared at the door, waiting to see who they were. That
laugh caught my attention. I chilled with
butterflies.
Gradually the footsteps grew louder. Just
then, I saw him. He walked in front of his friends, a smile on
his face. He glanced up through his shaggy black hair, and my
heart stopped.
His green eyes locked with
mine.
Time seemed to have frozen. Sunlight fell
through the patterned windows evidently on his face. The rays of
the sun that encircled him made him look like an angel. He
smiled.
I blushed and looked away while smiling
dumbly to myself.
I needed to know his name.
For the rest of homeroom, I didn’t
read. I stared at the words, but I couldn’t comprehend
their meaning.
That moment replayed in my head over and over
again.

Chapter 3.<3
When I looked in the mirror, I cringed. My eyeliner had smudged
on one side down to my cheek. I washed my face, and touched up my
makeup.
I got to homeroom just before the
bell.
I felt nauseas as I approached the room. The
walls seemed to be caving in.
One thought was on my mind.
Who’s next?
I need to see more… I need to know who
was on that road. Who’s going to die, and how can I prevent
it?
The flashbacks came
abruptly.
She looked over and smiled, sweeping her hair
over her shoulder, laughing aloud. I laughed too, and looked down
at the loose string on my jeans. With one hand I twirled at the
thread and with the other I pulled the pant leg tightly until it
broke. Christie kept reaching over and changing the radio
station. I lifted up my head to tell her to leave on the station
we had, but my breath was caged inside my lungs as I noticed the
headlights that were increasingly coming towards the car.
“Christie!” I screamed as she noticed the truck and
pulled on the steering wheel, causing us to cross into the next
lane. Within a moment, the van was crushed by another car. I
looked over at her, unaware of how long I might’ve been
unconscious. Her head was tilted back against the seat. Her eyes
were closed. I breathed her name but it hurt too much to speak. I
turned my head slightly, and looked inside of the car that we
hit. Tears escaped my eyes as I noticed a little girl in the
backseat, crying in pain at the sight in front of her. Her mother
was sprawled across the driver and passenger seat, not
moving… not breathing.

2.<3
The building was nothing new, as I had been
here before. Each bus parked along the curb that enclosed the
school. My bus driver started lecturing us on bus and school
policy, but I wasn’t listening.
The only sound I heard was the music filling
my ears. I played the air drums while tapping my feet in a
steady beat against the polished floor. Slowly, I packed my
belongings into my bag and sat quietly, waiting for her to
finish.
After some time, we finally shuffled out of
the bus and onto the pavement. Everyone had a pair of flip flops
or sandals. I had my converse high tops.
Then, I lost my focus.
Not here…Not
now.
I hurried inside and found one of the
bathrooms and snuck inside a stall. I pressed my forehead to the
cold door as I felt myself drift away. The buzz started as a
subtle tingle, than grew violent.
A faint scream was all I could hear through
the rough winds and rainfall. The road was slick with rain and
glistened under the stars. In the distance I see a car. Within a
split second, the car spiraled off the
road…
The scene faded.
When I came out of the trance, I crashed to
the floor. They always leave me feeling sick.
Immediately I checked my
watch.
8:14.
I had four minutes to get myself together and
get to class.
