Grew Up Too Fast
    Chapter Seven
"Did you see the look on his face?" I asked, laughing in between bites of pizza. "I have to give it to him, if someone did that to me, I would be so freaked out."
"I know right?" Abby giggled. "Ugh, pizza is so good! But I makes me so fat!" She threw the crust down in disgust.
"You're kidding right?" Claire was shocked, "You are so skinny. I'm jealous!" She lifted up her shirt and pinched the flab on her stomach. "I want this gone!"
"That's not even fat. It's just your stomach. Don't start worrying girl. None of us are fat." I reassured everyone.
"Yeah, you have nothing to worry about. You can eat anything and remain, whatever you weigh. How much do you weigh exactly?
"Like, a hundred" In a matter of seconds, the atmosphere in the room changed drastically. Everyone stopped eating and looked at me.
"That's not good. It's borderline anorexia" Ashley informed me.
"Yeah I'm aware. Do you know how much I eat? I can't gain weight. I quit dance two years ago and I still have the fast metabolism. And no matter how much I do eat, I can't gain anything.
"It's okay," Ashley began, "but please watch your weight. I don't want you to die or anything. I care about you. And I'm not saying 'Get Fat', I'm only saying I hope you do gain the weight."
               "Me too."

    Chapter Six
"Wait!" Abby whispered. "Should we play a prank on the pizza guy?" Her mischievous smile grew on her face.
"Oh my god, yes! Okay, I'm going to be really awkward! Get the camera Claire!" We all started giggling at how immature we were acting. I walked to the door and whispered, "Is it recording?"
                "Yes! Just go!"
On the other side of the door was an average teenage guy holding four boxes of pizza. His khaki pants were about his black converses. The red shirt that read "Pizza Hut" was stained with grease. He extended his arms to give me the pizza. "Thirty-nine, ninety-nine please."
"Hello. Good day. Yes yes." I tried my hardest not to laugh. Walking over to the counter, I saw Claire bent down with her video camera. My smile grew larger and I bit my lip. As soon as I recovered, I skipped back to him. "Can you come in and set the pizza's down? I won't be able to carry those."
"Oh. Uh, sure" He said unsteadily.
"Just on the counter." I walked behind him. When he reached the kitchen, he set it down and I screeched. "No not there!" His whole body jumped and the laughs of my friends were shushed. He placed it over a bit and looked back at me, to make sure it was right. "There you go!" My hand extended, giving him the money, and I smiled. I walked him to the door. "Have a good day." I took his hand and shook it. His face had a mix of awkward and "what the hell is this chick doing to me". He never said anything back to me, and left without hesitation.
A roar of laughter came from behind the stairs. "Meaghan! That was hilarious! I love you so much!" Claire hollered.
"You need to show me that video! I don't know how I did that with a straight face."
"Oh my god. You are honestly my hero!

Grew Up Too Fast
    Chapter Four
It took us less than thirty seconds for us to all get into the pool. We took no time to worry about our hair or whether the water was cold or not. The I-don't-care attitude started faster than any of us would have ever thought.
"Well hello girls! This didn't take you any time!" Ashley's mother came out of the house. She was carrying lemonade for us with snacks on the side. Her mother was the type of person who could never give too much. She always wanted to make sure her house was the same atmosphere as our owns. I enjoyed coming over because my house was never like hers. It was a good break.
"Thank you Mrs. Rodgers!" I said while taking a glass of lemonade.
"Oh honey, please call me Emily! I don't look that old, do I?" She smiled. I reassured her that she looked like a movie star, and began drinking. I was never comfortable with calling my friend's parents by their first name. My parents always told me it was considered disrespectful.
We stepped out of the pool and laid our towels on the sun chairs. I applied the baby lotion that was set out all over my skin. It was amazing how far a girl would go to make herself feel prettier. I'm about to burn my skin, and yet, I saw nothing wrong with it. The only thing I worried about was getting a tan fast.
"I hope we're all in the same classes next year." Claire began, "Or at least in the same lunch. If we aren't, and there's no one in my lunch, I'm pulling a Mean Girls and eating in the bathroom." We began to laugh and all agreed.
"I can't wait until High School. Especially to see all the hot guys." My mind was already on high school guys. Everything about Zack escaped my mind. He would want me to be happy, or am I just being selfish?

Grew Up Too Fast
    Chapter Three
The bus ride to freedom seemed to take forever. I wasn't sure if it was because there were twenty more people on the bus, or if it was because I was waiting for this night. Whatever the reason was, the ten minutes seemed like hours. Ashley, Abby, Claire and I were sitting in the back two seats. The last time we would be able to be in the back for a while.
"Hey, what kind of pizza do you want?" Ashley said while shaking my arm. Her zebra cased iPhone was in her other hand.
              "Uh, cheese. With light sauce."
              "Jeez, you're so picky!"
"When it comes to food, I tend to get this way." Ashley and I began laughing.
She brought the phone back up to her ear and began listing the types of pizza we wanted. "And yes, that's for delivery. Thank you!" She hung up and her phone was immediately back in her coach clutch.
"How long is it going to be?" Abby asked, peering over the bus seat.
"Like, thirty minutes. Don't worry, we will be home by then." A smile grew on her face.
The bus finally reached our stop, and to honor the last day of school, we all jumped out of the back. Every year, we have done this, and we would never stop. As soon as we stepped onto the street, the warmth of the sun soaked into my skin.
"You see this?" My pale arm extended, "Never will it be white again!"
"No more ghost? Claire said, jokingly.
"Never" I smiled, "I'm going to be a guido when this summer ends!"
"You know we are all hanging out, every hour of every day this summer, right?" Abby told us.
"Oh of course!" We all said.

Grew Up Too Fast
    Chapter Two
My heart sank at the thought of my best friend moving. I couldn’t imagine life without him. All of the memories we had flooded through my mind. “When are you leaving?” I swallowed the lump that was forming in my throat.
“About a week.” I cringed at this answer.
             “Where?”
             “Rhode Island.”
In relief, I brought my head back up. “That isn’t that far from Massachusetts. It’s just an hour. We can still see each other.” I smiled, hoping that he won’t see my heart breaking.
“Of course we can. It might be hard, but we can make it work.” He looked into my eyes and smiled. He pulled me in closer and gave me a final hug goodbye.
“I love you Zack! We are going to call each other, text each other and Skype every day! I’m not taking no as an answer!”
He laughed softly. “I promise we will. I love you too Meaghan.”
We walked away from each other. This felt like I was walking away from a dying person in need. I wanted to go back, but what could I have done? The feeling that my body succumbed to made me sick. All of the excitement I was feeling before drained out of me. Why did this have to happen today? Of all days, he chooses this one.
I tried to hide my sadness with a smile, but as soon as I reached my friends, I let everything down.
“Meaghan! What’s wrong?” Abby worried as she saw my red eyes. The rest of the girls came to comfort me.
“Zack is moving in a week to Rhode Island.” I cried out.
Ashley gave me a big hug. “Oh honey! I’m sorry. But girl, we are going to make this summer the best summer ever! We are going to cheer you up tonight! I don’t want to see any tears tonight, okay love?”
Ashley always reminded me of a mother. She was my mom away from home. She was always there to take care of me and help me feel better. I whipped away the tears, took a deep breath and smiled. “Okay girl. Let’s go have some fun.”
Grew Up Too Fast
    Chapter One
The last minutes of middle school was coming to an end. All the students were in front of the door, waiting for the bell to ring. Our eyes were glued onto the clock. It was finally about to be the first day of summer; a time to relax and soak up all the sun. It was a time where you only cared about your friends and summer romances. The rebellion in you died to come out during the three months of sun. I promised myself that I was going to make this summer a summer to remember.
I already planned this perfect summer in my head. There are going to be parties that will last through the endless nights. My friends and I will do everything that we always wanted to do. The guys that we will meet will be unforgettable and gorgeous. This would be the summer that everyone dreams about.
At last, the countdown to summer began. We started counting down from ten all together. Butterflies were already forming in my stomach. Not so much because of nerves, but because of the excitement. I looked at all of the classmates. It will be weird not seeing their faces every day. Part of me wished that there was more time to socialize with everyone, but that feeling ended as soon as the bell rang.
A rumble of stomps and screaming flooded the hallways. All the teachers were standing in front of their classrooms, seeing all the happy students run to their freedom. I saw my friends waiting for me and started moving faster, yearning for this summer to finally start. I heard my name being yelled down the hallway. “Meaghan! Meaghan!” I turned around and saw my best guy friend running at me. He had his hands out wanting a hug and we collided. “I’m going to miss you!”
I pulled away from the hug.“But we’re going to see each other in a few months! And we are definitely hanging out all vacation!”
His eyes never met mine, and his face moved away. “I just found out that I’m moving.”
