The story of us

I remember the first time I saw you. June 28th. You walked into the party, searching for someone. That someone was me. My heart raced faster and my face grew hotter as you climbed the stairs to greet me. I started to grin like an idiot as you smiled at me. You walked over to me to embrace me in a hug, and I sat there with a plate of food in my lap, too nervous to move it… let’s just say that was the worst hug I’ve ever given. I walked down the stairs with you and introduced you to my family. You shook everyone’s hand, like the polite gentlemen I knew you were. After saying hello to everyone, we retreated up the stairs and waited.

My friends climbed the stairs shortly after, sitting around the table with me, eating the food they had gotten and giggling to themselves about how red my face had become. You just looked at me and smiled, trying to assure me that my face wasn’t that red. I knew it was though. To take the attention off my face, I suggested we go swimming. Everyone agreed. I walked into the house with you, showing you where the bathroom was so that you could change. I stood there, near the door, not really knowing where to go. You just grinned at me and said, “Are you just going to stand there?” My face grew hotter as I let out a laugh. I shook my head and walked towards the living room to munch on the M&Ms that sat in a glass bowl on the counter.

After changing, we all went out on the dock and jumped into the lake. The water was cold, but it was bearable. We swam over to the square dock that was floating in the middle of the lake. We climbed onto it with a few of my cousins, and we all just laughed and talked about sweet nothings. You talked to my cousin about sports, and I watched you both, your eyes lighting up every once and a while when you got really into what you were talking about. Then my cousin jumped into the water, swimming out to the nearest buoy. Then you challenged him, in a playful manner of course, saying that you could get there faster than he did. And you did. You jumped into the water and swam with such ease to the buoy, getting there in record time. When you swam back to the dock, however, you didn’t come onto it. You stayed floating in the water next to where I was sitting on the dock, and you put your hand on mine, caressing my fingers so delicately.

I wanted to stay in that moment forever. But instead, we got out of the water and decided to snack on some desserts. There were so many to choose from, each looking better than the previous one. But I, being extremely picky, decided to just take a brownie instead. I walked outside to talk to my uncle, and he told me that the next boat ride would be shortly. So we waited outside on the porch, checking occasionally to see if we could spot the boat in the distance. Eventually we did, and we all raced towards it, carefully climbing in so that we wouldn’t fall.

We sat in the back of the boat near the motor, watching the house shrink as we went farther out into the water. You sat holding my hand, looking at me as I watched the waves for behind the boat. I knew I should have kissed you earlier during that boat ride, but I was so nervous. So afraid that a family member would disapprove. My friends kept telling me to just do it, and when I found the right opportunity, I looked at you and we both leaned in. I could have kissed you forever, I would have loved to. But instead, this kiss was short, yet still so amazing. The ride wasn’t long enough, because not long after we kissed, we were back at the house.

Time was flying away, and you were going to be picked up in about an hour. So we decided to go for one last swim in the water. It didn’t take long, though, before you had to go. Your friend was here to pick you up. I couldn’t stop you from leaving, because, well, you couldn’t stay any longer. I spent all of about six hours with you. Six short, amazing hours.

You hugged me goodbye, but the hug was too short. I wish you didn’t have to go so soon. I wish you could’ve told your friend to hang along until I left, which was going to be about fifteen minutes after you did, but it still would have been worth it.

The car ride home was so… blah. So boring. I relived the kiss over and over in my head, wishing I could hit rewind and just pause in that moment. I didn’t know when I’d see you again, but I really hoped it would be soon.

i don't know how to explain it anymore.
i'm sad about so many things that when something happens,

i just lose it.

I think it's about time that i give up.

Darkness
Chapter 6 // Ashton's POV.
-----------------FLASHBACK-----------------

I watched as a beautiful girl passed by me. Her hair had a light brown color with a blonde tint. Her sea green eyes glanced me up and down. I wish I could wrap my arms around her. But I never knew her. Never noticed her.
-----------------NORMAL TIME-----------------
I now studied the girl in front of me. Her body was motionless. The doctors said she didn't have much time, they lost hope. But still I didn't. I never would. They said that if she ever comes out her memory will be funky, but I didn't care. I pushed a strand of that beautiful brown hair off her cold, pale face. I kissed her cheek, and left the room. I needed to clear my head. To take a run.
I jogged, and jogged, til I couldn't jog anymore. I stood in front of a store window and looked at myself. I studied my fit body, my black hair which was now damp from sweat. I looked into my brown eyes, trying to find answers. Answers to the future. To what would happen. I needed to get back. That's all I could really know right now.

Darkness
Chapter 6 // Aria's POV.

I watched my bitter mother and my beautiful crush argued.
"W
hat happened when she came home from school crying over a boy she was in love with? I listened. Do you know who that boy was" I was taken aback by what my mother had said. Not once had she ever been there for me. Not once. "You." She said, snickering at the sight of Ashton's face dropping. If only I could move, i told myself.
"She... she came home c-crying?" He stammered.
"Yeah. And it was because a boy like you, no. Not a boy like you. A boy, who WAS you, ignored her. Completely."
I could see in his face he was destroyed. Completely. Then, all of a sudden, everything went black. Not l ike before though. This time, I was being pulled into a black hole, an endless pit of nothingness. This was the end of me.
