Chapter 1(:

"Morning beautiful"
Connor said waking me up on the couch. Connor is my brother's best friend. My brother, Dylan, is a year older than me. He is 17, I'm turning 16 in a week!
"Hey"
I said rubbing my eyes. "I didn't know you slept over?"
"I did.... my dad... is umm.. at it again..."
Connor said looking at the floor.
"Connor! I thought that stopped a while ago!"
Connor's dad always got drunk and beat him. He wasn't always like that. He used to be happy and caring until his wife died. That's when he started going to bars and coming home to beat Connor.
"I thought so too... I was looking through the frige when I heard the front door slam shut and heard his work boots come stomping into the kitchen. I turned around and he asked me what I was doing here. I told him I live here. I haven't seen him like this in a while. I thought he was sober. He then came closer to me and told me to get out of the house now. I told him I had no where else to go and that is wasn't his house, it was mom's. he got mad once I mentioned her and he punched me in the side. I dropped to the ground then he kicked me and told me to get out."
"Oh, Connor! I'm so sorry!" I said practically jumping into his arms for a hug. We remained like this for a few minuted until Dylan walked in.
"Yo, Connor! Are you staying again tonight."
"Is it okay with you? And your family. I don't want to intrude!" He said getting up and heading for the door.
"Connor, you know you're never a stranger here. You're always welcome." I said stopping him and giving him a warm smile.
"Yeah man." My brother said. "You can stay as long as you need. My parents won't mind."
"Thanks guys, you are the best!" Connor says hugging us both. I blush and Dylan winks at me and makes *kissy faces* towards me when Connor hugged us.
