Under The Gray Eyes

Chapter 6 Part 1

Edwin

That’s when I stop recording on my phone and pull out a knife of my own, as I enter the room.

“Stop!” I yell. Jason turns around, and Jamie’s eyes are lit up with fear. Jason suddenly drops his much smaller knife and comes at me with just his fists.

“Bad decision,” I say, grabbing both of his hands while still holding the knife.

As soon as I let go, he backs down. I pick up my phone, grab Jamie’s from his shelf and untie her, mouth first.

“Are you okay-” she kisses me almost before I could finish.

“I am now,” she says. “Let’s go. Now.”

We exit the area, and walk back, talking about exactly what happened. He took her, and I’m taking the recording to the police.

Chapter 6 Part 1

Edwin

Next thing I know, Jamie was texting me, giving me coordinates, and asking me for help.

“Jason,” I murmured, knowing it was him. “Stephen, I’ll be back soon, if I come home and somethings changed in this house- I don’t care if it’s a pillow on the floor, you will be grounded for a month!” I say, running out of the door. I have a feeling he’s gonna do something wrong.

I tell the cab driver the coordinates, knowing I won’t make it if I run.

He takes me there, and within 10 minutes, I’m in front of a small house-like building.

I just burst in, not bothering to knock and follow the sounds of Jason’s voice.

I wait by the door to record on my phone what he’s saying, “I’m sick of having you in my way, so you’re going to die very, very, slowly.” I can hear her sounds coming from a duct taped mouth. I peek in to see blood trickling down her cheek.

Chapter 5
Jamie

I'm not sure what Jason wants, but I do know where to find him... The Central-Town Gas Station. The CTGS.
I start running, only slightly faster than the avergae person, so no one would really notice. I'm still not used to running so slowly, so it begins to bother me. When I reach a long, wide field I need to cross, there's no one in sight, so I go full speed, and I'm at the other end in a couple seconds.
"Oh, I needed that," I whisper to myself outloud. No one heard me. No one is even in eye shot distance, let alone ear shot. No one's around to hear.
I run at human pace again, knowing they'd be in sight soon, along with the gas station.
I see swarms of people, mortals, everywhere. Then, I notice Jason, right by the gas station.
Knew it. I knew this would be where he was.

Chapter 4

Thalia

My best friend is really the best. She's never nosey. She's also smart, nice, and honest, too...
"Jamie," I begin. "I'm going to tell you who I like..."
"You are? Who?" she asks me.
"Riccy," I say, sounding slightly ashamed.
"Aw, it's Ric! I promise, I won't tell him."
"Thank you..."
We both begin to head home, when I realize I forgot to tell her somerthing, "By the way, Jason's looking for you."
She sighs. "Just great... I know where to find him," she says, beginning to jog off.
"Oh, okay," I say. "See you later, I guess."

Chapter 3

Jamie

I told him not to trip, and I think he thought I meant it literally. What I really meant was, Don’t fall, sometimes it’s hard to get up.

I always feel bad about lying to him. He thinks he knows everything, but what he doesn’t know is that under these blue eyes there’s gray, and under the gray eyes, there’s a person made of secrets.

I smile at my best friend, “So.. Who’s taking Ms. Thalia to the dance next week?”

She smiles back, saying, “No one yet..”

“You’re kidding, right?” She shakes her head, indicating no. “You’re like, majorly popular!”

“Oh, I got asked,” she begins. “I just turned them all down.”

“Why?” I ask.

“Just waiting...”

“Oh, so there’s someone..” I say. I never ask, because it’s wrong to nudge into everyone else’s secrets when I have my own.

I don’t bother to think of those right now. Not around Thalia. Or anyone.

“He’ll ask you, you know. I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t.. Except Edwin, of course,” I joke.

“No, he won’t. Trust me.”

“As much as I trust you, I can’t this time. I mean, if I were a guy, I think I’d ask you.”

“Even with knowing everything about me..?” She asks.

“Even with knowing everything about you,” I repeat back to her.

Chapter 2

Edwin

I knew I loved this girl. We tell eachother everything, no secrets.
“Ah, I love your eyes,” I say to her.
“Yours aren’t so shabby, either.” She smiles.
She was never too much of a romantic, so those types of things are big for her. Getting those is like receiving a hug from someone who suffers from severe claustrophobia.
And her smile... It could light up the whole town.
Do I not only love her, but.. Am I in love with her?
We’re only 17 though. I shouldn’t get my hopes up. Ever. No matter how perfect the girl. All I needed to know is that I’m the luckiest to have her.
“I.. Better run. My brother home alone isn’t safe. Never trust Stephen. Later,” I say, getting ready to leave. Then, Jamie walks up and whispers in my ear, “Try not to trip,” and walks away. So weird...
I walk home, without tripping...
Once I’m back, the place is torn up.
“Stephen!” I scream. “There is no way Mom has been gone for more than half an hour and look at this place! Now I have to clean it up!”
“But-” he begins.
“But nothing. Hand over your phone, and go to your room.” He hands me his phone. “I’m going to tell Mom about all of this, and if she chooses to keep your phone for a week, I wouldn’t be too surprised.” I hate getting tough on the poor kid. He’s only 14... I had to though.. Right?

Chapter 1

Jamie

My brown hair is flying behind me. I knew I should’ve pulled it up. I’m looking for something to eat, being hungry again.
My iPhone beeps. I realize it’s just Thalia and ignore it.
I’m hunting again. In the woods. I know I shouldn’t, but I can never help it.
After I’m done hunting today, I check the message.
Jamie, Edwin needs your help. Hurry!
“Oh sh/t!” I say. “I should’ve checked this earlier!” I start to run off, zipping past trees, bushes, wild flowers. I get back to my house and change, putting in blue contacts to hide my gray eyes. No one knows that my eyes aren’t naturally blue. Not even my parents, since my eyes were originally blue anyways.
I call her immediately.
“Where are you?”
“By the grill.”
I already start to run off, then ask, “What happened?”
“Edwin’s trapped! You’re strong!”
They all think I’ve played sports, too.
“I’ll be there soon,” I say, waiting by the door.
I walk over there to notice a pile of junk, with Edwin probably stuck under it.
I quickly uncover him. As soon as he gets out he kisses me.
“I missed you too,” I say, with a little laugh at the end.
