IF I LIVED THE HUNGER GAMES
CHAPTER 5: "THE SCORES", PART 2
The scores go in order of who went. Dugan: 5. Havana: 6. Just so
you know, the scores are marked 1 through 12, 12 being the
highest. Their scores are not surprising for their age, but the
scale was supposed to change since our ages were all the same,
and we were 14. But that still was probably as good as I’d
get, with such little build. I only have muscle in my legs, and
it still wasn’t much. But back to the scores. Aero: 10(Wow
that’s good.) Melina: 6. Nelb: 7. Ara: 6. Iris: 5. Pan: 7.
Plex: 7. Katia...8. I have never been more surprised than I am
right now. Sanders had to have something to do with that.
Tyton: 11. Aster: 6. Mido 6. Vida: 6. Masse: 9. Gera: 6.
Hedda: 7. Beena: 6. Albin: 6. Ginia: 7. Beo: 7. Berroe: 7. Grae:
4. That had to be wrong. Sean was good at every sport at school.
Milah: 8. Good for her! And that was it. Interviews were tomorrow
evening. And I need to be sly and
clever.

Chapter 5: “the
scores”
Katia:
My
classmates on the lower floors went before Plex and me to
show the gamemakers what they got. Right now Plex was going.
I didn’t see him much during training, so who knows what
he’s capable of. All I know is he can’t climb to save
his life. This could be his downfall in the games. I can’t
really picture him killing anyone, but it’s not like
someone would go after him to kill him. He’s popular
enough. But enough about that.
Plex returned after a few
minutes or so. Now it was my turn. I walked through the chamber
and stared out from the side hidden from the gamemakers. I saw
Aitor and Sanders, dressed in black shirts and red vests. They
didn’t look happy, and were eating nothing, unlike their
tipsy elders.
My plan was to go in undetected. I snuck along the walls, running
from shadow to shadow. There was a bow on the other side of the
court. I remained unseen and retrieved the bow. I grabbed a
single arrow and came back around. I decided to go up the rock
wall used to show climbing abilities if that’s all you can
do. The gamemakers continued searching for me. One gamemaker even
called my name, mispronouncing it. Finally I sprung up, and
hit the dummy used as a bow or knife target right in the stomach.
I was aiming for the head but they don’t have to know that.
Then I bowed, and walked out. It took about 10
minutes. Aitor and Sanders looked very surprised. I
never showed anyone any athletic ability because I never enjoyed
using it. I found it….barbaric. But for a barbaric game,
you got to show a little barbarity.
The rest of the day was
just Plex and I talking about unrelated things about back
home. How his older brother dropped out of school to hunt for the
family. About how he gets all the extra money he can at the
bakery. How my father comes home every day with blisters and cuts
and bruises his body can’t endure sometimes. Life was rough
in district 13. Many workers die preparing nuclear weapons for
the Capitol. And now, after the second rebellion, we lost having
tight schedules on our arm but were under constant surveillance
everywhere. Anyone that goes against the strict laws, whether
they’re 14 like us tributes or 5 or 50, are instantly
sentenced to death.
We
talked all day about that, and a little about everyone else. We
steered clear of discussing the games as best we could. Normally
at this time we would discuss strategies with a past district 13
winners but 1. There weren’t enough for everyone. And 2.
There aren’t any to begin with. The winner of this one will
be the first.
Our conversation was interrupted by an Avox boy showing us that
the training scores were being shown now. We turned to the T.V,
desperately awaiting our scores. I was afraid that mine was low.
That wouldn’t open up my chances for many sponsors. For
those of you who don’t know, sponsors bet on you surviving
and send you little gifts to help you along. I want to get as
many as possible so at least I could have some happiness before I
die.

CHAPTER 4: "the training room", part two
KATIA:
Oh no, that is the worst thing to hear. I got a mini heart attack
just from those words. Aero pulled me away to where no
one could see us, behind a list of stations for you to look at.
He grabbed my hands and looked straight into my
eyes.
“We can’t be together in
the games.” Was all he said.
“You’re…breaking
up with me? Now?” I panicked.
“What? No! no, what I meant was
we can’t be physically next to one
another.”
“oh, why
not?”
“Because, if it come down to
just the two of us…well…We can’t both
win.”
“We could, we would just do as
Peeta and Katniss did.”
“Word is the rules are
different this year. If anyone pulls a Katniss, the capitol will
do something terrible.”
“Oh…Then you’re
right. No alliance then.”
Many groups end up bunking together
and forming alliances until the end of the game to boost their
chances of winning. But I don’t want to win. I don’t
even want to make it to the last day. I don’t want to be
the first to die; I at least plan to make it to day two. It was
probably for the best that Aero and I weren’t
together. After all, he could probably take me out in one
punch.
“But I’ll be watching you
from a far, and I’ll keep you out of trouble best I
can.” Aero's warm smile
returned.
“Okay…Wait what’s
that supposed to mean?” I laughed.
“Ha-ha,
nothing…” Aero giggled and walked
away.
Training was over now, and tomorrow
we would get our training scores. And boy did I have a
plan…

IF I LIVED THE HUNGER GAMES
Chapter 4: “the training room”, part
one
KATIA:
The Avox boy woke me up. I put on a
light blue t-shirt, and a pair of brown Capri pants. My hair was,
as always, pulled back in a ponytail. I don’t like it when
its down, it gets in the way to often. Only when I sleep can I
stand it being down.
Plex’s already standing out in
the hall. I wave to him half-heartedly. No words were spoken
between our corridor and the training room; half because the Avox
boy’s tongue had been cut out, and half because
I had nothing to say to Plex. At least not right
now.
Once we got to the training
room, Plex instantly went over by Hedda and Beo. That
was normal; I didn’t expect him to stay by me. He has his
friends, and I have mine. Plus, again, there wasn’t much
for us to talk about now. I went over to knot tying. I guess that
could be useful. But when I saw that Mido was there, I knew
I probably wasn’t going to pay much attention. Mido
was very funny, and normally had some pretty mean but hilarious
observations of people, and the person teaching the class was a
plump, green woman with orange hair. He said that she was one
sexy piece of …I’m not even going to
finish. Mido obviously was being sarcastic, and though it
was cruel it still made me laugh. I think out of the seven knots
she taught us, I remembered how to make one, and that was only
because it was called the “69th” knot,
which Mido also made a crack at, for reasons we all
know.
After that, I went over and watched a
quick seminar on fire starting with Masse, which this time I
actually paid some attention. I figured even though it may seem
easy to do on your own, you should still make sure you are doing
it right. Next I went climbing techniques, which I
spotted Berroe at. She was so shaken by this whole
experience. But never the less, she was an excellent
climber. Plex was at this class to, but he couldn’t
get up the trunk of the fake tree like the rest of us
could. Poor
Plex, climbing is a useful skill.
Finally, I went over to archery. This
would be my weapon of choice, just because I like the way it
looks and feels. I grabbed the bow and shot my first arrow 20
feet from the target. I shoot almost a bulls-eye, now 40 feet,
then 60. I was pretty good and archery! I hope I find a bow in
the games, it would be very useful.
I
felt a prickle on my sides. I turned around, and there was Aero,
with a bow under his arm. “Your pretty good.” He
smiled. I was, wasn’t I? “Thanks…what’s
up?” I answered. “I have to talk with you for a
moment…Its important.” Aero
frowned.
IF I LIVED THE HUNGER GAME
CHAPTER 2: "the arrival", part 2
KATIA:
We got in the elevator. It was taking Plex and I to the
fifth floor. I stood with Milah and Aero. On the second
floor, Aero had to get out. He gave me one last hug before
the elevator guard pushed him through the door. I nearly opened
my mouth, but Masse grabbed my shoulder and shook his
head. Masse was lean and long. His hair was shaggy and
chestnut brown, along with his eyes. He removed his hand from my
shoulder and stared blankly to the elevator buttons, counting
what floor was next.
On
the way up, I thought about Aitor and Sanders. I hadn’t
seen them since we got off the train. I wonder where they went.
Probably to some Gamemaker orientation. Weren’t they the
‘lucky ones’? How could the capitol do this?
Why? There must be some good in them telling them that this is
wrong.
The parade was a bore, but our costumes were interesting. I got
to meet my prep team, but I didn’t catch their names. They
just bathed me down and did what they had to do. We all rode in
like a rainbow. Plex and I were dressed in all orange, I in
an orange dress, hair and eyes
(temporarily) orange to. The outfits I was most interested
with were to come for interviews.
While in the parade, Plex and I were on our little float
waving and smiling to the crowd. But on the inside, we were
screaming. We dreaded it all. It’s all fake; the smiles,
the emotions, the waves, the interviews…everything. But
it’s for our own welfare to just let it go by. During the
rebellion, I and most of my friends just defied the Capitol in
little ways, to distract them from the big things Milah was more
into. But now I knew the consequences: Our own special Hunger
Games. That probably was the plan all along. There never was a
random classroom pick- it was going to be us all along. Blasted
President Snow!
So Plex and I put on a brave face and waved happily to the
world we hated. Tomorrow Plex and I are meeting our
stylists, Dahlia Zalzer and Galbert Sife.
Great.
IF I LIVED THE HUNGER GAMES
Chapter 2: “the
arrival”
KATIA:
It
was a very short train ride to the Capitol. Perhaps that was
because it was taking us all to our eventual doom. There were 26
of us. And we were in the Hunger Games. I almost died. My heart
was breaking. We all can’t win. Innocent blood will be
spilled. I spent my time on the train with Aero. He held me close
to him and kissed me a lot. We all knew what would happen. At
least one of us will die. This makes me hope it’s
me. Aero has a family to take care of. My family is doing
okay; my ‘paycheck’ was just extra. They can do
without me.
We were sent to the ground
floor of the tribute building. I was informed by Iris that
we will be getting our partners for costume design today along
with our stylists. I hope I don’t end up naked like most of
the tributes from mining districts (district 13 mines graphite)
covered in dark dust.
Early, around 10 a.m, a fat man named
Kelso Halberry with orange-ish pale skin and dusty pink hair came
to tell us our partners. Since I’m Marbach,
I’ll be called somewhere in the
middle.
“The order is called at
random. Dugan A will be with Havana M. Aero A will
be with Melina T. Nelb B will be with Ara J. Iris
B with Pan R. Albin C will be with Ginia S. Grae G
with Milah V. Tyton G with Aster N. Gera H
with Masse T. Ara J will be with Nelby
B. Berroe L and Beo W. Katia M will be
with Plex R.” Kelso spoke in a capitol accent. Gosh,
is it annoying. Anyway I’m okay with being Plex’s
partner. My only beef with him is how he treats Milah. Otherwise,
He’s pretty cool. But I’m happy with anyone at
this moment. I love them all. “Havana M withDugan A.
Aster N with Tyton G. Beena R with Hedda
S. Pan R with Iris B. Plex R and Katia
M. Vida R and Mido S. Hedda S and Beena R.
Mido S and VidaR. Ginia S with Albin C. Masse
T will be with Gera H. Melina T with Aero A. Milah V
with Grae G. And Beo W will be partners with
Berroe L.” Kelso finished on a high note. It was
almost as if he was singing. I hate the capitol, and their
stupid accent. Now we had to get prepared for the parade coming
up later today.
Sorry i know this parts long and boring but it helpd alot with
the later part of the stroy! THANK YOU!
