Her younger brother had the same disease when he was four, and he was now
six, and immune to the disease. He was the only one who had blood like hers,
the only one that could save her. One day, the doctor asked the boy, "Would you
be willing to give your blood to your sister, so that she will be okay?" The boy
looked down, nodded his head, and said, "If it will save her, then I will do it." The
doctor began taking some blood from the boy, who was crying, and he asked the
doctor, "When will I start to die?"
The boy thought he would be giving all of his blood to his sister, meaning that he
would give his own life for hers. Even though he did not have to die, he thought
that was what it would take, and was willing to do it anyway, for the sister he
loved so much.
This gives me hope.
