Chapter 48 Part 2



I was dancing with Molly and Ryder when the music cut off and everyone stopped looking around for a reason their fun was cut short.
“Ahem.” A voice said into the microphone and my heart beat picked up while a smile spread acoss my face. I spun around wildly as I looked for him everything but the thought of him slipped my mind. “I want to thank all of you for coming.” He stepped out onto the porch where the sound booth was and looked around at everyone.
Once he found me our eyes locked and everything else faded away and he smiled crazily that I’m sure was identical to mine. “I want to thank a special someone for being here.” I blushed my face heating up as he made his way across the lawn closer to me, “even though you’ve been through so much and you had every right to give up on me, you didn’t.”
I shook my head at him breaking eye contact as tears threatened at the corner of my eyes but I was still smiling as he placed a hand under my chin to pull my face to him. “You’re one of the strongest people I’ve ever met,” I laughed and his smile widened, “you’re beautiful, funny, and perfect.”
Tears ran down my cheeks and I laughed to show I was happy and not sad. I mean honestly who would be sad at a moment like this?
“Avery.” I whispered as he leaned his forehead on mine.
“Val there’s something else.” he said suddenly nervous stepping away from me.
“What?” I asked scared at what he was going to say, but butterflies filled my stomach as I saw his lips move.
“I love you.” He whispered into the microphone.
My heart stopped, I was frozen only for a moment as I noticed his smile falter while I stared at him when I threw myself at him wrapping my arms around his neck and crushing my lips to his. I felt him smile as he wrapped his arms around my waist and kiss me back.
I was barely aware that there was clapping and a very loud, “Get a room!” from Ryder that everyone laughed making us pull away.
I stared into his eyes and whispered, “I love you too.”
“I couldn’t tell.” he smirked but pressed his lips to my forehead, “I think we should take up that offer of Ryder’s.”
“Avery!” I smacked him on the chest and he laughed squeezing me tighter into his chest.
“Don’t worry I was kidding, kinda.” I shook my head but smiled at this perfect moment, “I’d wait forever for you.”

Chapter 48 Part 1


It was hours later and the sun was beginning to set when Aden and Will traveled back to me. “Are we done here?” Will asked.
“Are you not having fun?” I asked, the group of girls kept sending me glares as the watched my brother.
“Come on I’m way over this. I thought it would be done by now?” He complained.
“Me too, but they wouldn’t let me leave.” I told him pointing to my group of friends, who kept sneaking glances at me. I sighed, “I can find a ride home if you want to leave.”
“Really?” He asked relieved.
I laughed, “Yeah but you have to take Rosie and Lux because she spending the night at our house.”
“Fine.” He said, “Just go make sure you can get a ride with someone and I’ll go find the girls.”
“Okay.” I told him walking up to Molly. “Hey Molly can you give me a ride home?”
“Now?” She asked panicked.
I shook my head, still not understand why they were so worried about me leaving. “No but later, my brothers leaving with the car.”
She laughed, “Of course.”
“Great, I have to go tell him.”
“Hey!” Ryder called over the music that suddenly turned up louder as the sun disappeared and the lights that hung down turned on. “Don’t leave got it.”
I nodded but rolled my eyes, turning around and almost crashing into Aden. “Sorry Ade. Lets find Will and Rosie.” I told him grabbing his hand leading him through the crowd. There were mostly teenagers that I noticed went to my school, all of the families left hours ago.
“There you are!” Will grabbed my other hand pulling me out of the crowd and into the less crowded house as we made our way out and into the front yard.
“So you are sure someone is going to drive you home?” Will asked for the millionth time while I bucked in Lux and he buckled in Rosie as Aden sat in the middle watching us carefully. I was surprised at first that Aden was going with Will but I figured he wanted to keep an eye on Rosie and protect her.
“Yeah don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine.” I told him shutting the door and walking back up the sidewalk to the house when I turned around,  “Don’t forget to go to the grocery store.”
He waved at him as he opened the door to the car, “See you at home.”

Chapter 47 Part 4


“Valarie!” They shouted behind me. Why won’t they tell me anything? And where is Avery?
I made my way into the house when an arm reached out to stop me. “Where are you going?” Jeff asked worriedly.
“Leaving.” I told him prying his arm off me as I tried walking around him.
“No you can’t, not yet.” He told me tightening his hold on me.
“And why not? Everyone’s hiding something from me and I haven’t seen Avery yet.” I told him my voice cracking as I pushed the tears back.
“Okay.” He said wrapping his arms around me comfortingly, “It’ll be okay, just don’t leave yet. Avery would be crushed, it is his birthday after all.” He smirked pulling away to look at me.
“I know, but I haven’t even seen him yet, he won’t even notice.” I told him.
“Trust me, he’d notice.” He laughed.
“What is that suppose to mean?” I narrowed my eyes, I was beyond irritated and I just wanted to leave.
“It means he likes you a lot and he wants to see you on his birthday.” He told me softly, letting go of me.
“Then where is he?”
“He ran into some trouble but he should be here soon, promise just don’t leave.” He pleaded with me.
“Fine, but I want to see him when he gets here.” I told him.
“You will.” He smiled.
I shook my head but I’ve calmed down a lot and I realised just how childish I was acting. I walked back out onto the porch and sighed as I looked around, I saw Aden looking up at me and I smiled at him. I saw Rosie and Lux running around and playing in the open grass, I saw Will talking with some of the high school girls making me roll my eyes. I also saw Kendra, Molly and Ryder huddled in a group still by the punch table and I slowly made my way over to them.
“Hey.” I said and they all looked up at me.
“I thought you left?” Ryder stared at me surprised.
“I will if you want me too.”
“No, it’s just..I..I’ll be right back.” he said walking away quickly taking out his phone and punch something in.
“You guys are acting so strange.” I muttered grabbing another glass of punch.

Chapter 47 Part 2

“Valarie!” Will shouted from somewhere in the apartment.
“Huh?” I asked as I straightened the only dress I had. It was a light purple with crystals on the bodice and sleeves, it hung down  right above my knees as it flowed around me.
“You need to eat before you guys leave.” He told me looking through the cupboards for something.
“Its a birthday party Will, I’m sure food is provided.” I laughed.
“I know but...”
“But nothing besides there is nothing here to eat, we’ll pick up stuff on the way home alright.” I told him shutting the cupboard from behind him, “Rosie, Aden lets go.”
“I can’t believe you’re making me go.” Will groaned as he held the door open for me.
“I told you, you didn’t have too,” I shrugged, “only if you wanted to eat something.”
“Right.” He muttered sarcastically.
“Do I have to go?” Aden asked coming up behind a bouncing Rose in her party dress.
“No, you don’t if you don’t want too.” I told him and Will smiled.
“See ,I’ll take him out somewhere and everything will work out. You two go have fun,” Will told us quickly pushing out the door.
“Nevermind.” Aden said panicked as he ran to me. Will looked dumbstruck as he assessed  the situation.
“Alright,” He said slowly closing the door behind him as we made our way to the car.
I’m seriously worried about him, he won’t even be alone with his own brother who would rather die than hurt him.
As I pulled into the already packed driveway Rosie squealed in excitement before I could even put the car in park. I laughed because I probably would have done the same thing if I hadn’t been the one driving.
“Great..” Will muttered looking at the house, “they’re loaded.”
“Don’t judge Will.” I scolded grabbing Aden’s hand and he squeezed tightly as I pulled on Will’s arm bring them into the party.
I looked wildly around the party for Avery’s familiar face but I couldn’t find him. I sighed turning around and looked at Will, “Thirsty?” he nodded and we made our way to the punch bowl.

Chapter 47 Part 1
Things were different after that day, I watched Aden’s behaviour closely and I was surprised I didn’t figure it out before. He cringed at minor noises, he was afraid to be alone in a room with older men, like with Avery, Ryder or even Will. It scared me at how broken he looked, like he was expecting a blow at any moment. I also noticed how he watched over Rosie, how he barely let her out of his sight.
I don’t know what to do, do I tell Will? Do I tell the state so this won’t happen to other children or put a stop to those who are already going through it?
I sighed twisting in my bed as I looked up at the ceiling. What do I do? Avery knows and he’s pushing me to tell someone, whether it's the state or my brother, he doesn’t care as long as another person knows.
My heart started to speed up at the thought of Avery, how his strong protecting arms comforted me. How he wouldn’t let anything or anyone hurt me while he’s by me or the smile that made me blush, like now when I thought about it. Avery has yet again relaxed me even when he’s not physically here.
A smile creeped on my lips as I remembered the feel of his touch and I drifted off to sleep.
“Wake up!” Rosie squealed as my bed shifted and started bouncing.
“Rose...” I laughed catching her in my arms.
“Come on Vally, were going to Lux’s house.” She told me wiggling out of my grasp.
“Okay, okay. I’m up.” I said quickly throwing my blankets off me and picking out my clothes.
“Hurry.” Rosie giggled. She didn’t need to tell me as I was excited to see Avery...again. I smiled brushing my hair quickly.

Chapter 45 Part 2
I followed him through the house pulling down his shirt as I walked, I was thankful we were the only ones home. I ran into something hard yet warm and I felt it shake.
“Here we are.” he told me laughing.
“Sorry.” I whispered blushing as I threw my clothes in the washer.
“It’s alright,” he told me coming up behind me. He placed his hands on my waist and I instantly smiled at his touch, “You look incredibly sexy in my shirt.”
I laughed, “Well I was thinking that it was a little small.”
“No,” he said turning me around after I started the machine, “You’re perfect.”
I smiled and kissed him. That meant everything, well almost everything, to me. No one's ever said I was perfect and I definitely didn’t think I was, so for him to say that made me extremely happy.
He lifted me up and I wrapped my legs around him so he didn’t have to bend down as much. He placed me on top of the washer and I pulled him closer while running my fingers through his hair.
“Avery! Are you home?” A voice echoed through the house.
“What is he doing here?” He growled helping me down taking my hand and leading me to the front room. “What do you want Ryder?”
“Good your home...” He began but smirked when his eyes fell on me, “Well, well well, what do we have here?” He teased.
“I got caught in the rain.” I told him quickly.
“I’ll pretend to buy that.” he laughed.
“It’s the truth.” I told him.
“What are you doing here?” Avery asked again, but he was smiling now.
“I just came to see that you haven’t killed yourself, and that Val was missing from school but you seem well aware of that fact.” He laughed at the end.
“Yeah I guess I am. Yeah so if you don’t mind...” Avery trailed off.
“Well, uh actually can I hang out here? I can’t go home my parents are home and I’ll get in big trouble.”
“Fine you can hang with us.” I sighed when Avery looked at me.

Chapter 45 Part 1
We were drenched when we slammed the doors to the car. The rain was still beating down on the car loudly. I laughed as Avery shook his head, water going everywhere. “What are you doing?”
“Getting dry,” He laughed.
“Well stop, you’re getting it everywhere.”
“You’re already wet what do you care?”
“I don’t really know.” I said and he smiled.
He leaned across the seat and brought his lips to mine. The shock was still there and I had a feeling it was something I would never get used too. He pulled away and I smiled, “I’ll never get used to this.” I whispered.
“What?” He smirked.
“This.” I said before pressing my lips to his once again.
We didn’t go back to school we went to his house. He pulled me along with him and I giggled as he threw me one of his shirts.
“Turn.” I told him motioning with my fingers.
“Or...”
“No.” I laughed. He frowned slightly but turned around and I quickly, as quickly as wet clothes are able, I took them off replace them with his warm shirt. His shirt smelled like him and I smiled as I sniffed it before telling him I was done.
“Great, let’s dry them then.”
