chapter eight



while walking back to my apartment i think. yes i like this kid. who wouldn't? he's almost perfect. he kissed me. no one ever really likes me. I've only had a few boy friends before and yeah i think i am ready for another. i get to my apartment and walk up to my room. i cant sleep. its pouring rain and Andrew still being on my mind it hard to sleep with. all this thunder and lightning crap is annoying me so i grab my iPod and plug in the headphones. as i turn it on "stuck in the moment" by Justin Bieber comes on. i just sit there thinking to myself "wow. what a crazy day this was" i finally fall asleep. when i wake up i spell the food from the kitchen four steps down. Dad tells me he invited Andrew over for lunch. we'll be walking to the park and having lunch there. perfect. its 10:00 now and Andrew will be here at 11:30. i go upstairs and take a fast shower then dry my hair. i put on little make up and grab some shorts. it stopped raining around 1:00am so everything is dry. its 90 degrees and sunny. once again my high tops and shorts but now I'm wearing a tank top from Syd's closet. her boy friend got it for her awhile before they broke up so she never wears it and thats why its mine now. i think of her. i miss her. i whisper to a picture of me her and James "i miss you both. i love you" and then the door bell rings. Andrews here. "I GOT IT" i yell over to Dads room. "hey" i says when he walks in. "hi. how was your night?" he asks laughing. "wonderful! oh i slept like a baby" i say in a British accent. we both laugh. then dad comes down stairs saying "ready to go you guys?" we look at each other "yup" as we walk out the door i wonder whats next. when we get to the park and finish eating i ask my dad if i can walk over to Starbucks a few blocks over. "sure" he says "does Andrew wanna go?" i look over at him and without asking he says "sure id love to" when we walk off and get far enough away from my dad i turn to him. "why did you kiss me last night?" i just need an answer. "I'm not sure. after the two days I've known you, I've fallen" he answers. "well what now" i ask. "its up to you. i don't know the whole story and if anyone does its you" I'm pretty sure i know what he means. "well. . . maybe i like you too" sh*t why did i say that. what if it messes it all up! "good. i finally have Elizabeth Hope" he says. "what do you mean finally? you've known me for like two days" I'm so confused. "no i haven't Liz. i was in James's 2nd grade class then i moved away remember?" my heart drops. ANDREW! i remember him in a blink of an eye. "and-Andrew" i say in the form of a question. "you remember" he says with a smile. "Liz. . . will you finally be mine to hold? and only mine?" i don't know whats going on. it all happened so fast. but i get myself together and think of the days James was still here. i think for a second and then i say "yes'

while walking back we hold hands. I'm really happy. he start to get to my dad and he says "what happened? you guys were gone for like ten minutes" he's so confused. "dad this is my new boy friend" i say laughing "I've known Andrew since James was in second grade. i just didn't notice him really" it sounds crazy. "mr.Hope this is my new girl friend. but only if its okay with you" he's a keeper I'm thinking. "well since you asked of course" now he's smiling. "lets eat?" asks Dad. we all agree. after we're done eating i go over Andrews house for a few hours. we talk about before when we were little kids and all that stuff. the next few days go by super fast with all the sighing up for the singing contest and practicing. tomorrow night is it. i cant think. i just finished my song. i look down at the paper as i sing:

Andrew heard me singing and claps. i start to laugh when i get up and rap myself in his arms. its late. maybe 11"30 or so. i tell him we should go to bed and my dad said it was fine if he stayed. right before i fall asleep he kisses me then says "i will always kiss you goodnight" i smiled then soon doze off. when i woke up he was still there but he's been awake for awhile. "morning sleepy" he says before he kisses me and says "I'll kiss you good morning too" "hi" i say in a tired voice with a smile then kiss him back. "lets get up and take a walk?" i don't know if he's asking or telling. "sounds good to me so i say "can we stop at Starbucks?" "sure and don't forget that tonights the night" he says smiling. "i wont" i smile back. the day passes and soon enough we're back at Starbucks for the contest. when we walk in Andrew tells this guy to come over here with a wave of his hand. "RYAN!!" he screams happily. "ANDREW!! how have you been!? its been forever!" whoever he is they're happy to see each other. "amazing. this is my new girlfriend, Elizabeth but call her Liz. . . or Lizzy" he smiles then Ryan says "hello Liz" with a beautiful smile. "are you singing tonight" asks Andrew. "no Liz is" he answers. "oh wonderful me too" this guys nice and funny. seems like someone i could talk to for hours. "good luck" i say then i walk away going to the bathroom fixing my hair and makeup.  I'm thinking like crazy now. what am i gonna do when i go back for new years and Max. . ? is Sydney gonna hate me? am i gonna bring Andrew? will me and Andrew still be dating? no. i cant think of all that right now. I'm about to go on. i leave the bathroom and its almost my turn. I'm singing after Ryan. when he gets on and starts my mouth drops. his voice is perfect. he can hit any note. "he's amazing" i say to Andrew. "he is isn't he" he answers. "i gotta go now. I'm next" i say letting go of his hand. "good luck Elizabeth" he says with a smile before a hug and kiss. i get on stage. this is it. no turning back.

  i start to look in the crowd. then i say "this is a song i started writing in the fifth grade. i lost the idea for it so i put it in my little green bag not to be found until a few weeks ago and so thats when i finished it" they all scream "whoo" and "go lizzy" so i start

and then i finish. they're screaming again and again. i stand there smiling saying to myself "oh Max. look at me now. look at who you let go of" i make a "i love you" sign with my hands then a heart and a smile. i walk off stage into Andrews arms. thats where i belong. Ryan walks up and we're all gonna go over his house for awhile after they pick the winner. "well i should just head out now" says Ryan. "why?" i ask "they didnt pick yet. what if you win?" i ask. "because we all know you're gonna win Liz you did amazing" he says with a smile. "i agree" says andrew. "thanks you guys but it wasnt that good" i say. "well we're about to find out they're telling us right now" says Andrew. Ryan smiles. "and the winner of our contest is-" i cant think. "-Elizabeth Hope" he says with a smile. everyone cheers so loud and its crazy! i walk on stage and give the manager of starbucks a hug (the guy telling us the winner) then i turn and say "this isnt the last time you'll be seeing me. i can at lease tell you that" and walk off. we all walk to Ryan's house-Andrew, me, Ryan, and ryans girlfriend, Scarlett.

when we get to Ryans house we watch a movie and around 11:30 Andrew walks me home while Ryan takes Scarlett home. when i get to my door he kisses me and says "kiss goodnight" and we smile. "i"ll see you tomorrow" i say. "okay get some sleep birthday girl" he says smiling. i almost forgot its almost my birthday. fifthteen more minutes. "can we stay outside for a little? so you can be the first to say happy birthday to me?" no ones ever planned to be the first. "anything for my princess" he says holding me. "thanks" i whisper as i hold him back. the minutes go by. "12:00" i say. "happy birthday baby cakes" he says smiling. i kiss him and hug him tighter than ever. 16 at last. "now go to bed. big day tomorrow" im trying to think. we didnt plan anything. whats he talking about? i go inside and tell daddy i won. we agreed on getting cake tomorrow and hanging out with Andrew. i get to bed and soon wake up around 9:30. i have a text from Andrew saying "moring birthday girl. get up lazy and meet your dad and i at starbucks" i laugh and get ready. i walk out the door and over to starbucks. when i get there they have a cake and everyone from last night. i run over to Andrew and give him a huge hug while he kissed my head. we eat the cake for breckfast and then go for a walk. we had a lot of his friends over but i only knew ryan and charlett. i met a lot of new people on my birtday but they were just there for a party and cake. i found it funny. after they all go home its just me andrew ryan and charlett. me and charlett go to get some ice for ryan because he got a head ace with all the screaming teens. charletts beautiful. brown hair, blue eyes, freckles, tan skin, perfect everything. we get back and chill for a while with some music and stuff. when i walk back to my house my dad has mom on video. i missed her. she sings happy birthday. "ive missed you" i tell her. "ive missed you more" i have so much to tell her. "so mom. . . i was hoping maybe you could come up here for new years? bring syd and her family?" i ask. "done. we made the plans last week" she says smiling. "no max right??" i ask. "not after what he did to my girl" she answers. soon we've been talking for over three hours. i go to bed and when i wake up. i couldnt believe my eyes.
