Don't Let Go
Chapter Nine
*Alex*
School
was stressful today. I had three very long tests. And I
think I failed all of them. It was the last day of school
till we got off for Christmas. I really was looking
forward to Christmas break. I needed a long time away
from homework and school.
Also, Nicole invited me to
some holiday party at Taylor's house. Apparently a
lot of famous people where going to be there-like Kristen
Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Lily Collins, and more. I was
a little nervous to go. What if they all thought I was
weird or creepy?
I finally agreed so Nicole
would be there with someone. But I kinda figured Logan
would be going so I secretly wanted to go because of
him.
Me and Nicole were talking
about the party after school.
"The party's
going to be awesome! I can't wait!!" Nicole
squealed as Riley came up to us.
"Did I hear something
about a party this weekend??"
I started to say
"no." just as Nicole said "YES!"
Riley gave me a confused
look. I shook my head and gestured that we would talk
about it later.
He ignored me and asked
Nicole," Am I allowed to go with Alex to this
party?"
"Sure" she said.
"She can't bring a lot of people though, only
you. Well since it's like a celebrity party and the
while publicity thing."
Riley raised his eyebrows.
"Celebrity party...?" he stared blankly at
Nicole then at me.
I got really nervous. I
hadn't told Riley yet about Logan so I didn't
want him to get mad at me.
"Yeah!" Nicole
started, "Um, I'm kind of dating Taylor
Lautner." she added a big smile after she said
that.
Riley looked so confused-I
couldn't blame him. "It's a long
story..." I added. I was so scared that Nicole was
going to mention Logan. What was I gonna do?!
Then finally Riley walked
me and Nicole to our cars. We met up with Melia because I
was driving her home.
I told Riley I'd
explain the situation later. After he left, I sank into
my car seat.
"What's
wrong?" Melia asked me, her and Nicole looked at me
waiting to hear my answer.
"I just haven't
told Riley..anything about Logan yet.. I just didn't
want Riley to think I like him because we hang out a lot
or anything..."
"Well you do!"
Melia said.
"No I
don't!" I cried.
"Uh, yeah you do! Do
you see the way you talk and look at him?! Your in
love!" Melia said.
"Maybe I don't
wanna be in love with him, Ok? I love Riley too, and I
wouldn't want to hurt him if he found out ...
"
"--That you love
Logan more! I knew it!" Nicole interrupted me.
I begged them, "I
don't know what to do, guys! Help me,
please."
They both looked at each
other.
"I'm not sure
what you should do. Just give your relationship with
Riley some time. Then if you figure out that Logan might
be better for you..then you could break up with
Riley!" Melia offered.
"I'll think about
it." I said. The rest of the car ride home I
didn't speak. I was too lost in my thoughts.
I knew that Melia and
Nicole were trying to help but I just didn't want to
break up with Riley right away.
I don't want to walk
out on him. At least not how his dad
did.
Don't Let Go
Chapter Eight
*Logan*
I got
really annoyed this morning. I didn't know what to do
today. It was a Monday so Alex was at school so I
couldn't hang out with her. I thought about
Alex's voicemail that I had listened over and over
again on Sunday. The girl I'm madly in love with has
a boyfriend, I repeated in my mind. I really wanted to
tell her I loved her but I wasn't sure how. I know
that if I told her it would make her confused between
Riley and I, and I didn't want her to make that
choice. At least not now when Riley just got back.
I went down to my kitchen.
I looked at the digital clock on my microwave that read
10:38am. I yawned as I got out the orange juice and
poured myself a glass. After a couple of minutes of
thinking about what I should do today, I texted Dean.
Hey man-u wanna
come over and play COD?
It took him a couple
minutes to reply, but then he said:
I would but my
manager got me a audition 2day, Maybe 2moro?
I texted back:
Yea sure. Good
luck on that audition! ;)
After that 3 second
long conversation with Dean, I ended up playing COD by
myself for a couple of hours.
After that I wasn't
sure what else to do. So I decided to go shopping at the
mall where I first met Alex. I smiled to myself. I went
into jewelry store and found a locket that said
'friends' on it. It was silver with diamonds
around the outside. When you opened it up you could stick
pictures of two people inside of it. I decided that when
I got home I would put a picture of me and Alex in there.
Christmas was getting closer and I wanted to let her know
that shes a really good friend to me by buying her
something special. I went to go pick out something for
Dean. And then headed home. I would go shopping some
other time-I was becoming tired.
All night I couldn't
help but want to see Alex's face when she opens the
locket. Then again, Alex was all I ever thought
about.

Don't Let Go
Chapter Seven
*Alex*
It was a Saturday morning and I stayed up for awhile the
night before, working on homework. I was studying for a
final that was coming up.
I looked over at my
digital clock, it said 12:00pm!!! Oh my gosh! I slept
in!
I checked my iPhone. It
said I had 2 New Messages, 1 New Missed Call and 1 New
Voicemail. One message was from Riley, and one was from
my friend, Heather.
Riley's said:
My first flight just landed-c u in a couple hrs!
Luv u!
Holy Crap! My heart was
pumping really fast. I forgot Riley went on vacation to
visit his Grandparents! I was supposed to meet him at 1pm
at the airport, today!
I quickly texted him back:
Can't wait 2 c u! Luv u 2! :)
I looked at my message
from Heather: Mornin' girlie! We should hang
out soon! Haven't seen u in ages! Xoxo lylas!
:D
I texted her back:
I have 2 go pick Riley up @ the airport soon!
I'm sry! He'll probably wanna hang 2day-can we do
it next weekend?
She instantly replied:
Sure. No problem! C ya.
I wondered if she was mad.
Not many of my friends liked Riley. I never knew why. It
couldn't be because 'I hang out with him a
lot'. Because I don't. He's always gone and I
never get to see him! Oh well, who cares what they
think.
I lazily got up out of my
bed and looked at my phone again. 1 New Voicemail from
Logan. I eagerly listened to the message he left me.
"Hey Alex! Thanks for
coming over last night! It was fun! Sorry about Dean,
though. He needs to get his act together. Haha! Soo..
Um..You wanna hang out today? You can call me back if you
want to. I understand if ya' can't..umm.. Ok, see
ya'! Bye!"
I called him back and it
went to HIS voicemail, I laughed, and then told him we
could hang out some other time cuz Riley came back and
that next weekend was good for him and me to hang
out.
I got dressed into some
dark washed flare jeans and a black plain Aeropostale
sweatshirt with white lettering and pulled my hair in a
ponytail.
I raced downstairs pass my
parents sitting at the dining table, past the many
portraits of my mother and father. My father, Richard
Crawford, was a fit man. He had a blond Josh Duhmel
haircut and a slight mustache when he forgot to shave. He
had blue eyes and a stiff smile. My mother, Dianne
Crawford, had a pair of cat like eyes that were almost
glow-in-the-dark-green. She had slight tinted cheekbones
that seemed as if they were plastered on her very stiff
face. They didn't love me. But sometimes it
didn't matter. Let them hate me for all I care! They
never talk to me anyway.
I raced down the corridor
to the very front parlor, and out the humongous
doorway.
While I was driving, I
thought about the night before with Logan. He seemed like
he really does care about me. He was a really good friend
to have. It was all so confusing. I had feelings for him
AND Riley. What was I supposed to do! I can't break
up with Riley! That would hurt him and I wouldn't
want to do that. And what if Logan doesn't like me
back! I love them both. I hated making choices like
these.
To get my mind to shut up,
I blasted the radio in my car. Music always calmed me
down.
On my way to the airport
to pick up Riley, I found myself singing to Adele's,
Set Fire to the Rain.
I finally arrived at the
airport. Riley had texted me where to meet him. I walked
near the baggage claim to look for where he is. I
couldn't find him. I just stood there, like an idiot,
for a couple seconds. Suddenly I felt a big jolt on the
sides of my ribs. "Ow!" I yelled. I turned
around. A smiling Riley stood there looking at me.
"Riley!!!" I
screamed and hugged him. He softly ran his fingers
through my hair.
"I missed you!"
he said to me in a quiet voice.
"I missed you
too!" I whispered back. I pulled away and he slipped
his free hand into mine.
Riley was a normal guy.
He's kind and has a sense of humor, but he also gets
angry-really fast. But he doesn't get that angry that
much anymore.
He was wearing a red
sweatshirt with skinny jeans and black Nike sneakers. His
hair was all ruffled from when I hugged him. His hair was
like Justin Bieber's old hair cut but not
necessarily. It was a teensy bit wavy. His eyes were
brown in a way that sparkled when he looked at you.
"So I was thinking,
maybe we could go over to the board walk later and grab
some dinner?" he asked me while we were walking to
my car with his luggage.
"Sure!" I
agreed. I helped him put his suitcase in the trunk of my
car. Riley got in the passenger seat while I hopped into
the driving seat.
After we started driving I
asked Riley, "How were your Grandparents?"
"Good! They're
actually doing very well for living so far away in
Mississippi." Riley smiled as he talked. He told me
all about how his Grandpa almost had a stroke before
Riley went down there to see them. And how he had to take
care of both of them. Though his Grandma always liked to
sit in the rocking chair on their porch and look out at
the horizon.
"Sounds really
peaceful there." I commented.
"Yeah, hopefully
I'll get to bring you there someday to meet them.
They sure would like that. You know, I told them all
about you." he smiled at me as he brought one of his
hands out on the cabinet in the middle of the seats,
gesturing for me to hold his hand. And I did.
"Oh really? What did
you say about me?" I cockily remarked.
"Oh..just nothing
much. Just about how you have the most beautiful eyes
known to man, and your gorgeous." he winked. I
giggled at that.

I found
Alex in my movie room. It's not the size of an actual
movie theatre but it makes do. There's a big flat
screen at the far end and the steps have rectangular
lights near them to guide you where you step.
"Sesh! I wish I had a
room like this in my house!" Alex said watching me
come through the door.
"It is nice,
isn't it? I always watch movies when I get bored.
It's a good room to have."
"It's
amazing!" Alex breathed.
"Thanks."
"You have
everything!" she commented.
"Naw."
"You do! Admit
it!"
"Nooo! Have you seen
Justin Bieber's house?!"
"Whatever,
Logan." Alex smiled.
While I got things set up,
I told Alex, "Whenever you need some down time
I'm always here. I have almost any movie you could
think of." I said.
Alex smiled and eyes lit
up. Did I tell you how much I love her eyes? They're
hazel but with a tint of brown in them that glow like
Dove's chocolate.
We picked out a movie that
we both decided on and I put it in. The screen went all
fuzzy. Alex tried to help me, but it was no use-something
was wrong with the TV.
I cursed under my breath.
"I don't know what's wrong! It was working
fine the other day.." I trailed off.
"Dean's probably
using all the power." Alex figured.
"Your probably
right." I was angry. I wanted to impress Alex but
then Dean gets in the way and ruins everything! I
probably looked really angry because Alex laid her hand
on my shoulder.
"Logan, it's ok!
I really don't care" She said, pretty much
reading my mind. (She can do that, you know.)
"You sure? 'Cuz I
can kick Dean out!"
She laughed, "No
that's ok! Let's find something else to
do."
I ended up giving her a
tour through the second floor of my house. She saw my
room and everything. I was a little embarrassed to have
her get a look at my room. The only people who've
seen it was family members, and Dean. Once she looked at
everything in my room, she saw that I had a balcony. She
rushed over to it and opened the sign glass doors.
"I've always
wanted a balcony.." she said, as I came up next to
her. It was a warm night and the stars were out.
"Yeah." I said.
I couldn't help but watch her. I loved looking into
her eyes, having it be like a mystery to me what
she's thinking about.
She turned to
me. "Logan? What's your family like?"
I told her how
much my family means to me and how I have an older
brother and sister. I told her everything. She just
always listened to me.
"Your family
sounds amazing."
"They really
are. They mean a lot to me. What about your
family?"
"Its a horrible
subject. My parents don't actually..care about
me."
"What??! Of
coarse they do! They're family!" I was surprised
to hear this.
"Not everyone
has it nice, like you do, Logan."
"But..why? They
seem like they give you everything!"
"Listen, they
think they can buy me happiness. But all it does is make
me feel horrible inside. I feel miserable. Melia &
Nicole are always there for me. So are you and Riley. But
sometimes it isn't enough. Sometimes I just can't
stop but think, 'Why don't my parents love me?
Why me?' You've probably never felt like that
before. You wouldn't understand."
I couldn't believe
what I was hearing! All I wanted to do was comfort Alex
and make her feel better.
I put my arms around her
and held her close for what seemed like hours. I never
wanted to let her go. Never.
Don't Let Go
Chapter Six
part 1 of 2
*Logan*
Alex
and I talked for a really long time that night. We
figured out we had some things in common. We both liked
the same kind of music, we both liked to joke around and
we both loved the beach. I was starting to like her a
little bit. I really wanted to tell her. But then she
ended up telling me she had a boyfriend. I was upset but
got over it. I didn't want her to suspect anything. I
thought about her every moment of the day and night. I
couldn't help it. I was in love with her.
We became really good
friends and we hung out a lot. Pretty much every day
we'd see each other.
A couple months later, I decided
to take her over to my house and watch a movie: as
friends. We pulled into my driveway. My house is really
huge. But thats because I make a lot of money filming
movies. (You probably figured that.) though Alex
didn't freak out at all, like I thought she
would.
"Your house is really
pretty." she commented as we entered through the
front door.
"Thanks." I said
as I walked her into my living room, which had a big flat
screen up on the wall surrounded by a set of leather
couches. The screen was flashing with scenes from my Call
of Duty game. The floor was scattered with empty mouton
dew cans. I realized-someone was REALLY playing my Call
of Duty game. I walked over and stood in front of the
screen.
"Hey! What are you
doing?!" my best friend, Dean Collins, yelled from
the couch.
"How'd you get
into my house?!" I asked him.
"Long story short-My
parents are over and they were gettin' all up in my
grill about how I don't clean my house, so I thought
I'd come here! They wouldn't let me play my game!
...And you left the window open again."
"Come on! I swear I
locked that window!!" I cursed under my breath,
"and I don't want you playing my COD anymore!
You almost wore it out last time you snuck in through the
window!!!!"
"What's a guy to
do without his COD!" Dean admitted.
I walked up to him and
slapped his hand. "It's ok, man." I forgave
him.
"And who's this?"
Dean asked, looking at Alex.
"She's a friend."
I told him. Not wanting him to think she's my
girlfriend or anything.
"Ohh.." Dean slyly
remarked.
"Hi." Alex said
softly.
Dean just looked at her, then
me, then back at her. There was a moment of silence.
"Well..me and Alex were
just going to watch a movie-you just..play my COD until
you wanna go home." I said breaking the silence.
"Thanks, Log-ster!"
Dean smiled. Dean motioned that he wanted to tell me
something. I told Alex to go look around for a minute.
Dean and I watched her leave the room then Dean
cluched my arm and whispered in my ear, "you
like her, don't you?"
"What? No!" I said.
"I see the way you look at
her!" he commented.
"Dean..."
"Logan! Just admit it ok?!
I know you like her!!!"
"Ugh! Dean! Ok! I like her!
Big whoop! It's not like i can ask her out! She's
got a boyfriend! Besides I don't want to ruin our
friendship! Can you please keep this between us,
Dean?"
Dean wavered. "Sure, man!
That's what best friends are for!"
"Thanks, Dean! I appreciate
it!" I told him, already up the staircase looking
for Alex.

Don't Let Go
Chapter Five
*Alex*
I woke up at my parent's beach house. It's was a
long time since I've been there. The past summer my
parent's had dragged me to the Caribbean. I
would've better liked to stay in my parent's
quiet beach house and listen to the waves roar while I
sit on a lounge chair and read forever. That's my
idea of a good vacation. It's not like I'd have
anyone to share it with me- a good trip like that.
The first thing I saw when
I woke up was Nicole's face.
"What happened?"
I asked not remembering anything.
"We went to the mall,
and you kind of fainted." Replied Nicole, hoping I
was all right.
"Ughhh." I
groaned as I plopped back down on the couch. Everything
started flooding back to me.
"Are you OK?"
Asked Melia.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
I said quietly. "Do my parents know about
this?" I asked, looking up into their concerned
eyes.
"No." Nicole
answered, still worried about me.
"Good." I sighed
with relief.
"Sorry I couldn't
come to the mall, I was at a study group. What happened
back there??" Melia wondered.
I tightened my jaw, not
wanting to answer any questions. Let Nicole tell the
story, I thought.
Nicole opened her mouth
starting to say something, but was interrupted my the
buzzing of he phone. She looked down and smiled.
"Who could you be
texting?" I asked. And that's when THEY walked
in.
"Lord, take me
now." Gasped Melia. She turned around and looked at
me with wide eyes. I shrugged. I pulled away from her
gaze to catch Logan's. He was wearing dark washed
jeans, and a green t-shirt covered by a leather jacket.
It made me feel like I was dressed horribly in my gray
jean shorts and my Rush t-shirt.
"You wanna sit
down?" asked Nicole in a giddy voice.
"That's what I
was hoping you'd say." smiled Taylor. His smile
looked way better than in movies. After watching Nicole
and Taylor flirt for a little while, I realized I was
hungry. I pushed myself off the couch and walked to
the kitchen, not caring about the situation for a moment.
I grabbed an apple and leaned against the counter. A few
seconds later, Melia sauntered into the kitchen looking
for me. She just looked at my apple and then fixed her
eyes on me.
"What?" I said
with my mouth full of apple.
"Seriously?! There is
THE Logan Lerman and THE Taylor Lautner in your beach
house and your in your frikkin kitchen, eating an
apple?!" she yelled at me.
"Pretty much." I
swallowed.
She shook her head and
dragged me back into the open living room.
"Well it seems
she's doing better." Taylor said breaking
the silence and looking at my face.
"Yes, I'm doing
fine, thank you very much." I said grimly, hating
them for interrupting my apple time. :)
"Anyways, me and
Logan came here to see if we could do anything to help
your.. umm... condition; we felt a little bad we
couldn't help." I knew the only reason why they
were here was because Taylor liked Nicole. So
obvious.
"Awww!" Nicole
cooed, " how thoughtful of you!"
"Yeah, yeah." I
muttered under my breath. I was gettin bored of this
frikkin flirting.
"I'm going to
step outside." I announced. I saw Melia roll her
eyes at me, but she didn't try and stop me. Logan
watched me walk outside to the beach.
I watched the waves roll
in and out. This always calmed me down. The sun was just
starting to set. Perfect timing, I smiled to myself and
closed my eyes and felt the wind blow through my wavy
hair. After a couple minutes I felt the presence of
someone behind me. I thought it was Melia, coming to yell
at me for leaving again. But when I turned around I was
surprised to find it was Logan.
"Are you gonna make
me come back inside now too?" I snottily asked
him.
"No." he quietly
answered.
I instantly regretted being mean
to him. He was more adorable in person. I shoved the
fangirl part of me deep down and replied,
"Oh."
"I see you like the
beach. I do too." he admitted.
"Yeah." my heart
pounded so hard I could've sworn you could hear it
from China.
He looked in my eyes. I
looked into his. We just sat there for awhile.
"Are we going to do
this every time we see each other?" I joked.
"I hope so." he
said and cracked his mouth into one of his famous smiles.
I could've died right then and there.
Don't Let Go
Chapter 3
*Alex*
"Did we really have to come?"
"Yes!! Now stop wining!"
Nicole pleaded.
"Fine." I gave up. I
didn't want to seem the fangirl type in front of Logan. I
didn't want him to know I was sort of obsessed with him cuz
that would be creepy.
"How are we gonna find where
they are--" Nicole was interrupted by screaming.
"Probably over there." I
pointed to a line of about 2 million girls screaming and jumping
up and down.
"Very funny." Nicole
said. She waited 5 seconds until her also ran and got in line.
Like usual, she turned around to check if I was following her.
She motioned for me to join her. I shook my head.
"I'm going to see if Melia can
meet us here." I called to her.
"Fine." Nicole pouted.
She knew I was desperately asking for an excuse.
I walked over to a nearby bench, and sat
down. I slowly dialed Melia's number on my phone. It
automatically switched to her voicemail. I didn't bother
leaving her a message, so I hit end. I placed my phone in my back
pocket and sighed. Nicole was actually very close to the front of
the line! (for it being about 2 miles long) I stood up from the
bench and decided to go stand in line with her. After about 20/30
minutes it was our turn. I politely stepped off to the side and
gestured for Nicole to go. She made a sympathetic face and
stepped forward. I was looking around waiting for Taylor to
finish signing Nicole's Twilight Saga shirt. Taylor was
smiling at her! After that, I took a quick glance at Logan.
He was signing an autograph for a thirteen year old girl. He
slowly looked up, handed the paper to the girl and she walked off
smiling. Logan caught my eyes and held my glance for awhile.
Everyone in the mall was suddenly gone. It was only me and him.
It seemed like HOURS till I could actually pull away from those
sea blue eyes. The quickly greeted his next fan so the next girl
wouldn't get upset. I was forced back into reality. I
realized Nicole had been by my side the whole time.
"Let's go." She
exclaimed while tugging my arm to get me going.
I think my face was pale when she
actually looked at me because she asked, "Alex? Are you
ok??"
And that's when I blacked
out.
