So there's this guy...who's generally perfect. He thinks like the people you write about in your quotes; as in, he's so sweet and sensitive and not a liar. He tells me I'm his dream girl, and he even designed my engagement ring. We're very serious about each other, but then he went off to college.

He gave me a promise ring on Sunday, and less than 24 hours later, was on a "date" with another girl. He wanted to ask her out...and totally forget about my promise ring.

I don't understand... why would he ask her out? Why did he leave me? I've been there for him in ways no one else is, and I even walked 3 miles in a blizzard to see him! Why? Can you tell me, why?

I'm sorry for what he did ; and I don't wanna sugarcoat this because it wont help anything. When people move away to college they become different because they've experienced different things.. And it changes who they are.
I'm sure at one point, he meant what he said about loving you and wanting to be with you ; I wont say he didn't because it sounds like he did. But maybe being in a different environment changed his perspective and he would rather experience it his way ; as in experience the people (girls) and not wanna be tied down relationship wise yet. Either way I'm sorry to say this but don't hold your breath for him. Hes not gonna come around anytime soon IF he even does....
It sucks when you love someone so much and put so much effort into them and a relationship and this happens.. I've been there more than once and its always the same outcome. I am sorry /:

Dear Chris,

I came upon several of your quotes while scrolling and decided to creep on your page. I really, really liked what I read. You have a depth of thought and character that many, if not all, the guys my age don't have.

I am in some romantic troubles of my own, and no, it is nothing that is frivolous, or "too-girly", like "OMG! He didn't call me yesterday. We're so done and I hate him forever"; this is deeper, alot deeper than that.

May I please ask you for some advice? I need a guy's perspective on the situation and I need to understand WHY.

but what do you do when you have no inspiring things let in you, no more smile-stickers to post on your face? where can you go to feel safe? where can you go when you are trapped inside yourself and the blade seems to be your only friend? what inspiring quotes CAN you write when you are going to close your book and glue the pages together so no one will be able to bring you back--so no amount of prayers or electricity will save you? what can you write when you don't want to be saved, you just want to revel in the pain because in that moment, the pain IS your prayer, your pleasure, your passion?

you return to the arms of a lover who loves to destroy you. you return to the soft kisses of metal on flesh. you return to the nightmares you call your friends.

and no matter how hard you try, the inspiration to smile won't come. and you're out of stickers.

Because, while you're expressing your emotions, you're putting others who are trying to recover in risk. You can still write what you want, but it just won't be shown to the general public because you're putting others at risk. The quotes on witty are really triggering a lot of the time. What Steve is doing is actually a really good idea because it lessens the risk of a young, easily impressionable, and easily triggered person seeing explicit content about self harming and they, themselves, relapsing.

Dear Steve,
Those of us who struggle with SH and ED and Depression find a home here on Witty. When you hide the quotes we make about those struggles, it hurts. It feels as though we are being treated the same way here as we are in the real world.

"Ssshhh, honey. Don't talk about those things. Ever. Just keep them to yourself." is what you are communicating to your hurting Wittians. And that is part of what drives us to SH or develop ED/Depression. Witty helps us. Here, we are able to comment about our true feelings; our hurting; our pain; and we are accepted. We are not judged, we are not scorned; rather, we are met with a community of people who feel/have felt the same pain. And through these people, we are met with understanding.

Understanding is the first part of recovery from such problems. But when you hide those expressions, you are only reinforcing what society tells us; that these problems are "to be kept silent", "you'd lose your friends if they found out", "you're alone in this. no one cares about you.", etc.

Witty is a place of healing, and of helping each other make it through those hard nights, those nights when it seems like you're all alone--and no one wants to save you from yourself. Please don't take this safe place away from us.

Our parents aren't always the best people to go to for help; school counselors simply tell your parents; and the police make SURE your parents know. But oftentimes, our parents are the ones leading the charge on hurting us.

Please think carefully about what you are doing to us. We don't know where else to go if you take away Witty.

You have to understand, such quotes are triggering for some people. I mean, yeah I write some sad poetry but a lot of you go into explicit detail about what you guys do to self harm, or what not, and that for a lot of people can be really triggering. Someone could read that and then go off and hurt themselves because they were triggered. If you're sad, and you want to write about it, take the time to create an actual piece of poetry without using explicits. Use metaphors. Then, it's less triggering and you'll be able to let out your feelings. But, most of all, you need to get actual help. This is a website meant for funny, inspirational quotes. It isn't people's diaries (try keeping an actual journal). No website that has such explicit quotes about self harm is safe, especially for those in recovery and who are easily triggered. What Steve is doing is protecting those who will read someone's quote about self harm and then give in the urges themselves. So, try writing inspirational quotes, about recovery so it can help both you and the reader.

You're new here, aren't you? Let me give you a few tips. NO ONE in real life is to know your username here. And these people, on witty, they shouldn't know your real name or your location or your personal information (and, btw, your profile includes pretty much all of the above.)
And your quotes are good. They're just fine. In fact, they're very VERY deep. I like that. But be forewarned, since you're a boy on witty, and you make such quotes about love, expect some girls to follow you just because you're a boy; NOT because they like your quotes.
