I could make this a fancy quote, but I'll leave it simple. A
simple thing made my day today, so I believe this is fitting.
We were in gym class. I am not athletically inclined, so when the
teachers put us on teams and told us we were playing ultimate
frisbee, I kind of got scared. There were two other teams
watching us.
Three "jocks" were on my team, along with two other
girls. The boys were very good at the game and confident and
loud, and started playing. I stood and watched and tried not to
get noticed so I wouldn't have to play. Finally, the one boy
kept looking at me (and he's not too bad looking himself) and
then he handed me the frisbee and told me to kick off.
We were playing frisbee. Why would I "kick off"?
I said I didn't know what that meant and he said, "Here,
just throw it," and so I did. It went completely in the
wrong direction but he smiled and clapped and said, "That a
girl, Paige!" and ran to get the frisbee.
Never talked to him before in my life.
But I won't forget that.
