Jack and Mai are very different in more ways than one: Jack's smart, Mai's not; Jack's rich, Mai's poor; Jack's American, Mai's Chinese. Yet they are very alike in other ways.
Despite their differences, this unlikely pair could work out. If only certain people would stop holding them back...
When Jack tells Mai how he really feels, Mai doesn't believe him. She thinks he is winding her up, playing a cruel joke on her. Jack is crushed, but vows that he will never give up. But then Mai develops feelings for him, and regrets saying no. But she can't let him know that, so she hides her feelings. She also thinks that Jack is dating Laila Gracie, a gorgeous cheerleader who often makes fun of Mai. Laila has had a crush on Jack for about forever, and is delighted when she finds out everyone thinks they're dating, so plays up to the fact. But Jack doesn't feel the same about her.
Will Jack and Mai finally get together?

Not What They Seem.
Type       /       Genre      :        Love        ,        Friendship
Cherish (Cheri) Caraway isn't exactly a normal teenager. She lives with her dad and stepmum, Tessa, - none of which she likes - as well as her dad and Tessa's four children, her half-brothers and sisters, Taylor-Jayne (TJ), Bobbi-Lee (Bobbi), Tom and Billy - so she is constantly being pushed aside.
Her relationship is getting too complicated, her family useless, her dreams in tatters and her happiness gone on holiday, she has noone to turn to, with the exception of her eccentric, upbeat friend Nikki Kershaw and her mild, on-edge friend Ivy Caine.

Ivory Caine, known to everyone as Ivy, isn't exactly a normal teenager. She lives with her big sister, Sassia, as her mum and dad moved to Spain for business reasons, leaving Ivy and Sassia behind. Sassia is only twenty-three, meaning she goes out partying and is busy with uni, and so Ivy has noone to talk to, noone to maybe have a few jokes with, noone to cook her a decent meal like her mum would. Ivy has noone to confide in, and more often than not keeps everything to herself.
She's never been in a relationship, and has never exactly felt truly happy. But then Liam makes a move on her, and she actually feels happy, like she may have a boyfriend, someone to talk to, someone who actually liked her other than the two girls she befriended recently, Nikki and Cheri. But Liam belongs to someone else.
Liam is Cheri's boyfriend.

Nikki Kershaw isn't exactly a normal teenager. She should live with her dad, but he is never in. So she is home alone. She keeps the important things to herself, but share others: gossip, information, etc., but still feels there's something missing.
She's been in many relationships, but is single. She longs for a boyfriend: one who is smart, nice, funny, good-looking, and most importantly for Nikki: One who is there for her, through thick and thin, no matter what; A boy who is the total opposite of her dad. She gives out relationship advice, advice in general, gossip, anything to pass the time. She feels the need to talk all the time, as she can't talk to anyone at home. Will She EVER find the boy of her dreams?

Sorry they're both so long, lol. Also, Mai was previously called China to honour the country she's from, but I changed it so Mai. I also considered Lin and Ling, but thought Mai fitted best.

So, what do you think?

"Oh?" I prompt.
"I'm leaving. To work for the police, this time. But not as a police officer. As someone who goes arounds schools in bad areas and talks to them, 'cause I understand how they feel, you know? But I just wanted to thank you, Nic, for helping me. You've made my life so much better. I can't imagine what would've happened if you hadn't shown up when you did." Kyle says, his eyes shining. My eyes are filled with happy tears. I can't believe I actually helped someone turn their life around, that I'm someone's inspiration.
"OhmyGod" I smile, and give him a long hug. I feel him shift his arm about, checking his watch.
"I'd better go now" he says regretfully, and I guide him to the door. "I'll keep in touch this time, okay? Here's my number, and my address" he says, handing me a little card.
"Okay, great" I grin, taking the card and looking at it. He doesn't live that far away. We say goodbye and he turns, taking a few steps down the pathway.
"And Nicole?" he turns around.
"Yeah?" I ask, raising my chin.
"I just want you to know, that I will always love you, whether your name is Perrie Windsor or Nicole Atkins. Even if I meet someone else, you'll always be in my heart" he says, then turns and keeps going down the path.

The End.

Five Years Later...
"Cola-pop? Can you get Nici into her hoodie? You know, the peachy coloured one?" Tilly asks, sticking her head over the banister.
"Sure" I say, shifting the laptop off of my thighs and onto the couch. "C'mon, Nici" I reach out to the five year old by my side, who is sitting straight up straight with her legs crossed and her hair in a messy bun. She's gorgeous, with Tilly's blonde hair and Brian's skin colour, which I have decided is "permanent tan." She has a pale rosiness in her cheeks, and a little scattering of almost invisible freckles across her nose. She unfolds her legs and pushes herself off the couch, grabbing onto my hand.
I thread the hoodie through her thin little arms, and then kneel to zip it up, when there's a knock on the door. "Who's that?" Little Nicole asks, looking up at me as I gaze out the window suprisedly. My boyfriend (remember the crush I said I had that made me sure I wasn't falling for Kyle?) Leo is working right now, so who could it be?
"No idea" I say blankly.
"Go see!" Little Nicole demands, and I nod, instructing her to zip up her hoodie. I pull open the door, and am greeted by a large bouqet of flowers. "Pretty!" Little Nicole yells, even though I told her to stay where she was.
"Soo... Nicole Atkins?" says a vaguely recognizable voice, who then moves the flowers from in front of their face and I gasp, a grin spreading over my face.
"Kyle!" I smile, and give him a hug. Little Nicole speeds over, and joins in, not caring that she doesn't know him.
"And who's this?" Kyle asks, handing me the flowers and bending down to look at Little Nicole.
"Nicole" she says, "and so's she," she points at me, then takes Kyle by the hand and pulls him inside.
"Tilly's daughter. Remember, Brian got her pregnant on the assignment?" I prompt.
"Ohhh, right! So, do you and Tilly live together now?" Kyle asks.
"Yeaah. Me, Tilly, Brian, and Nici. And occasionally Leo" I reply, placing the flowers in a vase.
"Leo?"
"My boyfriend" I watch as Kyle conceals his disappointment. "Um, so did you get or are you getting on okay at the CPA?"
"Actually, that's what I'm here about."

"I'm here to help you, Kyle. Listen here, if you want, you can get out. Of here. But you have to do something which might be rather hard. You join the CPA. You locate drug dealers, and we stop them. Like Nicole did for you, although the people you bring in won't get the easy way out. So, Adams, do we have a deal right here and now or shall I come back tomorrow?" G asks, leaning his elbows on the table in front of us.
"Tomorrow's not my visiting day. And you'd need permission" Kyle answers, leaning back moodily in his chair.
"Me? Permission? I don't think so. I can come here any time as long as I flash my I.D card, ain't that right, Nicole? Don't you miss the agency?" G raises his eyebrows at me, swiping his I.D in front of Kyle. "You'd get to visit Kyle any time you like." Kyle looks at me hopefully, as if he wants me to rejoin the agency. But he'll be there soon. "Unless, of course, he joins us himself."
"I'll take it." Kyle decides suddenly.
"Great" G grins. "You start Monday. I'll retrieve you from here tomorrow. Oh, and you have to wear a tag."
"Anything." Kyle agrees.
"Now, shall I leave you two to talk, or shall I wait, or do you want to leave, Nicole?" G asks, raising from his chair.
"We'll talk" I say, glancing at Kyle for approval. He nods.
"You getting a lift or will I wait?"
"Um, I'll get the bus, thanks." Kyle and I sit in silence and watch as G walks away.
"Thanks, Nicole" Kyle says quietly. "But" he says, flicking his eyes up to look at me, "why?"
I sigh, and shrug. "You just seem so... I don't know. Innocent, I guess."
"Right... So, um, is it hard? The stuff you do?" he asks.
"Did. And it wasn't after I got used to it. At first I was like "um, how the hell do you expect me to do this without getting caught out?!" but it turned out okay, I guess. I started when I was twelve. That's the minimum age, anyway" I tell him.
"And you're fifteen now?"
"Um, no. Fourteen." I answer.
"Oh. Anyway --" He's cut short by a bell.
"Time up. Please return to your cell" a guard says, walking past us swiftly. "In fact, Adams, Mr Barlow wants to see you. Say your goodbyes and I'll guide you there."
"Bye, Kyle" I say, and step in for a hug. Kyle kisses my cheek and says thank you another three times, and then I leave, out into the light heat.

I'm sitting in a blue plastic chair next to a tall man in a black suit and red tie who looks bored. He's on his Blackberry sneakily underneath the table, as you're not allowed your phone out. I'm picking at my turquoise nail polish and pretending I don't exist. The man and I aren't exactly speaking as we've never really liked each other, but we're friendly enough that he agreed to come with me. Trust me, if it were up to me, I'd have came alone. But it wasn't.
"Is he ever going to come?" the man, Big G, leans over and hisses at me. My eyes flick up and I raise an eyebrow, peeling another bit of nail polish off and letting it float to the floor.
"And I'm meant to know, how?" I ask sarkily.
"I don't know, he invited you. Jeez, kids these days" he rolls his eyes and shakes his head.
"God, adults are SO hypocritical. You're the ones that made us this way. We learnt it all from you, after all. So you can shush. God, adults these days" I mock, sucking in my teeth.
I hear the swing of an opening door and turn. "Look, there he's. Just in time for you, you were getting grey hair."
I can see Kyle, he's looking around for us. I wave at him, and he turns to look behind him. I can't blame him, as I was mostly wearing a blonde wig when I was with him. "Oh look, he can't recognize his own visitor" Big G chuckles meanly.
"Oh, shut up, will you?!" I snap. I raise my hand and wave again. "Kyle? I'm over here, you plonker" I roll my eyes, as Kyle walks towards us.
"Who's this?" he asks, jerking his head at Big G.
"Who am I, Mr Adams?" Big G repeats, his dark eyebrows raised with a stern expression on his tanned face, his moss green eyes serious. "Only the person that could potentially save your life and bust you out of this place" he says, then leans back in his chair with his hands behind his head and clearly admiring himself for his grand little speech.
"Hey, stop hogging all the credit. It was my freakin' idea, after all" I snap, glaring at him. G is SO full of himself. "And anyway, that doesn't exactly sum up who you are. What happened to your name?"
"Oh, honey, stop getting all uptight, you're scaring me" G says sarcastically in reply, slapping both his hands against his cheeks. "Gary Benz, supervisor and manager of the Under-22 category at the CPA. Other titles include G and Big G. Good to meet you, Mr Adams. Me and Nicole here don't exactly get along, but she, Nicole here, has seemed to have taken a shine to you and dragged me here to meet you, ain't that right?"
"Let's get one thing straight," I say, flashing another death glare at G. "My name is Nicole. Not "Nicole here.""
"Hahaa" Kyle laughs, but stops abruptly. "Hang on, though. I understand why Nicki's here, but I'm still confused as to you... So, uh, why are you here, um, G?" he asks unsurely.
"That, my friend, is a very good question."

"Enter." I hear someone's loud, booming voice command. I turn the handle and watch them all turn to me with looks of surprised. "Close the door" one of them says.
"And what do you want, Miss Atkins?" asks the judge, peering at me carefully. I twist the skirt of my court dress around my thumb. My court dress is dark grey, with elbow-length sleeves and a just-above-the-knee skirt. The body is fitted, against my skin, and the skirt flares out. It has a thick  light grey stretch belt over it and I wear light grey flats and black opaque tights.
"Um, well. It's about Kyle. It's really not his fault... You should've heard what he just told me. Please, don't give him two years. He has a whole life ahead of him. He'll get off the drugs, and that whole thing with Brian was just a stupid mistake. Please. Give him one year? I got him into this mess -- sort of. Please, I just want to help him back out. I'll help him stop. Please" I plead. Everyone in the room stares at me, shocked.  "Thank you" I nod diplomatically, and leave the room.
"What the hell were you doing?!" Tilly hisses, rushing up to me and grabbing my arm.
"Helping. And it's not like you're one to talk, hm?" I reply, eyeing up the very small bump at Tilly's stomach.
"Oh, shut up" she snaps, and turns to find Brian, leaving me alone.
"Sorry" I call out. She raises a hand, twirls her wrist and keeps walking.
The case is called back on, and we return to the courtroom to hear the verdict. "All raise for the verdict" the judge calls. I stand, my fist against my mouth. I catch Kyle's eye and raise my eyebrows, and he looks back at me hopefully.
"Kyle Adams, you are sentenced to serve one year in prison" the judge confirms, and I smile at him and then Kyle. It's worse than nothing, but better than expected. Kyle looks surprised, then glances back at me and mouths "Thank you."

"Taly!" I call, watching the mail plop through the letterbox. I bend down and scoop it up, sifting through it. There is rarely mail for me since I quit the agency, but I like to check. Natalya Atkins, Natalya Atkins, Natalya Atkins, Nicole Tompkinson Atkins, Natalya Atkins... None for me then. Wait. There is. I scan the envelope. It's definitely mine, I didn't read it wrong. My name's on it: Nicole Tompkinson Atkins. My real surname and my adoptive surname. There's a prison watermark on it. Who could be mailing me from the prison? I tear the letter open.
"Dear Miss Atkins" I read. "You have been invited by Kyle Adams to visit him at Inverdale Young Offender Institution on June 18th. Please respond by phoning the number below or contacting us by letter."

He looks up at me, then back at the ground. "Hey." he sighs. I laugh, but without a reason. He looks back up at me and frowns, then laughs too. "I can't believe you." he says.
I shrug. "It's my job. I get paid." Then I think. "Sorry. WAS my job."
"Did I get you fired?" he asks.
"Weren't you listening back there?" I laugh. "I quit. Coz of Tilly. Y'know, Karissa. She was quitting, so I quit too. Although I prefer the term left. Quit sounds so harsh."
"I know what you mean. It was a good thing you did though. It's made me see sense."
"Trust noone? Don't kiss someone you've only known for about two hours?" I suggest.
Kyle laughs. "No, but maybe that's a good idea. That drugs and gangs are stupid and crazy. Y'know what's crazier, though? I started when I was ten. The gangs and the dealings. Coz you don't see the police searching a ten year old, do you? And ten quid is a lot of money to a ten year old, right? So they offer you ten quid a pop, and you're ten, so you take their offer. And you keep doing it, coz you like the money. But then you're in the gang and you can't get out, you know? Then come up about five years, you're still in the gang, but much more serious. You know what I mean?*"
I nod slowly. "I'm sorry, you know."
Kyle shrugs. "It's alright now... Two years is the minimum for assault and drugs. I can't believe it. I know, I deserve it. But, Pe--Nicole, I don't want to."
"I understand" I say, and give him a hug, squeezing him tight.
"But right now, I have something to do..." And I leave, running down the long hallway, and knocking on a large oak door.

I'm at the court room for Kyle's hearing. It's hard for me to do this, considering how close I'd became to Kyle. But I've done it before and now shall do it again. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, rubbing my temples with my forefingers. "Nicole Atkins, please take to the stand" I can hear the judge saying. It's now or never. I take another deep breath and step into the box. I see Kyle gasp as he sees me and hears my name. I shrug at him and he glares at me.
"Do you swear by the Almighty God that you will tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?"
"I solemnly, sincerely and truly declare and affirm that I will tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth" I swear, my voice wavering slightly with nerves.
"Is it true you used false identity to lure Master Kyle Adams into your trap?" Kyle's snidy lawyer asks.
"Yes."
"The name of Perrie Windsor, am I correct, Miss Atkins?"
"Yes."
"And would these be the drugs you retrieved from Master Adams on the night of May 22nd?" another man asks, holding up a bag containing marijuana.
"Yes."
"And why were you buying drugs, Miss Atkins?" Kyle's lawyer asks, his eyes glimmering.
"To prove my point."
"Excuse me Your Honour, but Nicole worked for the CPA. I'm sure they has enough information, don't they?" Tilly stands up.
"We understand that Miss Atkins works for the Crime Prevention Agency, Miss Cunningham. And yes, we have plenty information, but we just need a few extra. May I please question why you said that Miss Atkins, past-tense, worked for them?" the judge asks, peering down at Tilly.
"Coz she doesn't work there any more. We both left."
"I see..."
This has got to be one of the crappest court cases I've ever been to. And it's my last one, as well. There's a few more questions, then there's a break while they decide Kyle's sentence.
Kyle is under police supervision right now, meaning he's not cuffed to them but they are watching him. Maybe... No. Stop. But I'm already walking.
I stop and stare at him, a few metres apart.
"Hey."

"You can't, Nic! Please, don't. I'm serious about this. I... I love Brian, no matter what identity... Cola-pop, you can't do this. I don't want to ruin everything for you" Tilly comes out of her trance-like mood.
"You're not. I need to focus on my studies anyway... I'm serious too, Tilly."
"Hang on... You're name is Tilly, not Karissa?" Brian looks so confused.
"Correct. Tilly Cunningham, enchanted to meet you. Not Karissa Windsor" she says, and pulls out her I.D card. "See, that's me. I'm not leaving you."
Brian's face softens after realizing who Tilly really is. It doesn't seem to matter. The police are asking me and Tilly to step outside while they question Brian.
"Nic, I really am pregnant" Tilly bites her lip, then grins, and her smile seems to light up the entire room. "And guess what it'll be called if it's a girl!"
"Karissa?" I guess.
"No! NICOLE!" she beams, her smile growing larger.
"OhmyGod, Till" I smile, tears welling in my eyes. "That is so kind" I sniff, brushing away the tears.
"And with Brian, I guess I really do love him, you know? He's gorgeous, and amazing... I don't really care that he's sort of a criminal. He promised he'd clean up his act; he just needed to do one thing first. Which I guess was fight. And look at him now!" Tilly's looking longingly through the window, where Brian is being interrogated by the police. One of them notice Tilly and close the blinds, blocking her view. "Damn. Anyway, Cola-pop, that was such a thoughtful yet crazy thing you did back there. I admire you for it, I really do. I am serious, though. I'm quitting before they fire me. I guess, as they say, love conquers all."
