Homaniod shapes apear on the outskirts of the firy pit. Their muscular bodies and bare torsus gave them a human look, but the way they walked unevenly on two legs obviously showed that they were much more comfortable on all fours. As I'm staring a dark shadows streches over me. I whip around and some one, with a knife gliterring in the light, is standing over me with a smug grin on his scard face. I scream and fall back crashing down the stairs, my head banging into each one. I land on the hot concrete of my basement floor and scramble up. Deep growls escape the mussels of my next challenge. I dash awaymy heart pounding out of my chest when somethning on all fours jumps on me. It lets out another menacing growl and was just about to tear me open when a voice yells to back off.

Strong human hands yank me off the floor. I stare up at perhaps the scariest thing I have ever seen. The reflected fire made his face look red and burns covered half his face, blistering and scarring it. One eye is completly out and just a black hole is left while the other is wide open and blood red. He's chaped lips closed tightly in a strait line. The only thing left of his eyebrows are bloody lines roughly cut in his lethery skin. As I look away I notice both his hands are blisterring, birght red, and swelling to twice their normal size. I look up again. Sudenly I reconize him. Behind the revolting bloody mess is my father. My eyes widen and I jerk back in surprise.

"Dad?" I ask akwardly my voice shaking.

He laughs. "No, your father is dead."
Dashing away I ripped of my sweatshirt and hung my arm in a sad excuse for a sling. The pain was almost unbearable but the thought that I could be caught by the things  I saw was more. Panting I stop for a minute. I relize I'm by someones porch so I sit down on a step. A rush of memeries flood back. I rememered how it started........

I was reading in my room when a wierd thumping noise came from downstairs. I finish my page and went down to stop what ever was disturbing my peace. I remember how the stairs creaked as I trotted down and the cry of a bird from outside in the rain. As such a dedicated reader I probably should have taken the obvious symbolism and warnings into account but alas, I didn't. Iy sounded like it was coming from the basement. Now any logical person swould have stopped right there and said whatever I really don't want to waste another good pair of pants. But I didn't. So I continued walking and opened the door. A bright orange light took me by surprise. At that point the unlogical people would have backed away slowly, already feeling their pants wetening and dash back upstaris to the wamth and safeness of the bottom of your sheets pulled over your head. But, for whatever reason, I didn't and boy I wish I did. For what was shone beofre could only be described with one word, Hell. Now remember that is used a a noun, I am not implying anything. That is when I proably did the most idiotic, stupid thing I have ever done. Walk down the stairs, mesmerized my the light, the firy pit that was in the place of my basement.
...... something big, something hard crashed into me. It fell over landing on my outstreched arm I was using to steady myself. I felt it collapse under the weight and a searing pain raced up my arm like a boulder just landed directly on it. I scream in agony then stop abrubtly remember what I was running from. The thing got  off my crippled arm and helped me to my feet before I could resist. I could hear its heavy brething in harmony with my own. Suddenly a blinding light appears and engulfs my vison in bright white. I immediatly shut my eyes then slowly reopen them to quence my couriosity. I imagined a hary beast with yellow glowing eyes and bared fangs ready to eat me, but instead a cute, alarmed guy who looked around my age was staring at me extremly worried.
"Oh my goodness!" He cries, "I am so, sorry. Are you ok?" He's big brown eyes look intensly at me expecting the worst.
"Ye-yeh I'm totally ok." I stammer, but he glances down at my limp, shattered arm covered in red, black, and blue and then looks at me again. "Everything but that. Ummmm, look I really have to go. I-it's late. Thnk you for helping me up." I'm cursing at myself in my head for acting like such an idiot.
"How about I walk you home. You look like you need help."
"NO!" I scream-wisper.
He looks at me like I had three heads."What?"
"I mean I would totally get in trouble! I'll go to....... my grandmas house!" Wow I thought, that sounded way less stupid in my head. He looks at me again this time like my mom when I'm obviously lying about cleaning my room.
"Right.... uh where's that?" He replies.
Praysing that I don't sound like as dumb as before I answer," I'd rather walk alone. She might not be up still and I don't want to scare her with some stranger comeing to her house too."
"Oh, sure. That-that makes sense. Well if you need help again, here." He looks down at my limp arm then slides a paperbetween it and my fingers. He smiles then walks away. My heart flutters as I read the 10 didget number but then reality sets in.
My heart was pounding. The only thing louder was my bare feet racing, trying to get away. To many thoughts run through my head, to much images, to much to take in all at once. What did I see, what just happened. Was all I could make out in the jumbled mess of my mind. Still, even though I was far away, in my head I could still hear the footsteps, the unhuman growls, the screams. It's dark out. Too dark. I knew this town like the back of my hand, but now it all seems like what I have known was only the beginning. Darker secrets lay within its stories, its history. So much has been revield the past 24 hours it seems unreal. How was it possible that I could be living just above a nightmere worse than the ones that wake you up in the middle of the night making you scream just to take your mind off the horror that filled your sleep. worse than the most recent horror movies that you swear you would rather die than be in the main character's shoes. What I had just lived through was pure-
Suddenly a I crash head into a tree. The throbbing beginnings only seconds after and I fall down hard sending a searing pain up my spine. Panicked I kump up but a rush invades my pounding head and dizzily I plop back down. I'm breathing hard, exusted but still scared. Something wet runs down my leg but I'm too panicked to care. Then out of the erie silence a stick cracks then a voice swears then............
