from a distance.
Her dark hair bouncing off her shoulders,
Brown eyes glistening when she laughed.
Sunlight casts golden highlights on the grass,
Framing her face with a warm glow.
Her laugh, her smile, her voice.
Simple things he noticed.
Regretting his mistakes,
Wanting to take back that day.
The day that he made fun of her.
Caused her to regret.
She's over it. She gave up on him.
That's what he thinks.
Now he waits, watching her.
Counting the minutes that passed.
Thinking of ways to apologize.
He knows it's too late. But even now
He acts like he doesn't care about her.
She'll never know that he does.
But she sits silently, thinking about him.
His laugh, his eyes, his jokes.
His beautiful eyes, and the way that he makes

His eyes meet
hers. Her heart races, cheeks grow warm. Just for that one second
they lock eyes, she holds her breath. Hoping that he'll say
something. Hoping he doesn't see right through her.
Hoping that he'll apologize. But he doesn't. He
just continues walking. Her eyes dart to the ground, flustered.
She feels like she did something wrong. She regrets falling for
him. She regrets telling anybody. She regrets him finding out.
She shakes her head, taking a deep breath, convincing herself
he's not worth it. Convincing herself she's over him. And
she is. Until she sees him again. Until her breath
hitches at the sight of him. Until he looks at her. But he'll
never realize how much he meant to her, how much she actually
cares. How much his words of, "Ew, her?" hurt her.
He'll brush it off, find someone else.
And she doesn't know why, but she
can't get over
him.
