instead of dreading the day that he talks to u, go up to him nd face the problem head on. pull him to the side nd say that even though you HAD a little school girl crush on him, it doesnt mean u guys still cant be friends.

This can we really akward but when you see him just smile at him but you dont even have to talk to him hes not a huge part of your life anymore and feel happy that your friends helped you with that so now you can just find somebody else. Hope this helps :)

also start the conversation with somthing that you know he will be interested in.. His hobbies, bands/music, whatever you know about him. The worst thing that can happen is that he says "why the hell are you talking to me" and if this happens make sure you have a good comeback and make him feel badd like "Oh im sorry i didnt know you were an please forgive me" or if he says " i have a girlfriend" you can say " Sorry i didnt realise i said can you have with me what i meant to say was ...(what you said)
Just make sure that you are confident.. if you are not you will probably make a fool of your self.. and if he is a nice guy it wont be a big deal.. If he is an though you need t know that you are better without him in your life..
