Just a Little Game.

Chapter 5

Dustin led me over to one of the many tables in the cafeteria. There were two girls, and two guys sitting there already. I smiled shyly.
"Guys, this is Cassidy Madison. And Cassidy, these are my friends Sienna, Jessica, Mark, and Aiden," Dustin said, pointing to each one of his friends as he said their names.
"Hey Cassidy," they all said. All of them seemed very nice.
"Hey," I replied, as I sat down between Dustin and Sienna. Sienna had long blonde hair, and blue eyes, while Jessica was the exact opposite. She had brown hair, and brown eyes. They were both very pretty. Aiden had brown hair like Jessica, and it was styled in a buzzcut. Mark's hair was dirty blonde, and it was longer, and sort of messy. Both of them looked strong and muscular, like Dustin.

"So, Cassidy, you moved here from Maine, right?" Jessica asked.
"Yeah, I just got here a couple days ago," I said, as I twisted the cap off of my water bottle.
"She lives right across the street from me," Dustin added.
"Ohhh..I was wondering how you guys knew each other," Aiden said, before sinking his teeth into a sandwich.
"Yup, I knocked her right onto her  b u t t   the other day," Dustin said jokingly. I laughed. "Did he really?" Sienna asked me, an amused smile on her face.
"Sort of," I giggled.
"How?" Mark asked.

"Well, I was walking down the street, and I wasn't really paying attention–"
"And then I knocked her over," Dustin interrupted.
"No, I bumped into you, and fell," I protested.
"Nope, I knocked you over, I had the whole thing planned out," he said.
"You didn't even know me!!" I laughed. Sienna, Jessica, Mark, and Aiden were all laughing along with Dustin and me.

"Guys, Cassidy should come with us to Jessica's house tonight," Sienna said.
"Oh yeah, everyone's coming over tonight, Cassidy, you should totally come," Jessica said in agreement with Sienna.
"Yeah, I'll be there," I replied.

Just a Little Game.

Chapter 4

I entered the hallway, sticking close to Dustin. I tried to ignore all the stares and whispers, like "Wait, is she new?" and "Hey, who is that?" I hated the feeling of having everybody's eyes on me.

"You ok?" Dustin asked quietly.
"Yeah," I said, nodding my head.
"So, classes start in about ten minutes...and you have to go get your books and stuff," he said.
"Um, ok," I replied.
"My locker's right over there." He pointed to one of the many pale blue lockers up against the wall. "Meet me over there when it's time for lunch," he instructed.
"Sounds good," I sighed. I walked a little farther down the hall, until I found my locker. I opened it up, and all of my textbooks were already inside, along with a schedule. I picked it up and scanned over it quickly. I had Math, Spanish, Chemistry, and English before lunch. I gathered up all of the things I needed, and wandered around for a while, trying to find Mr. Baker's math class. The hallway was alamost empty by the time I found it. I peeked through the door, walked inside hesitantly, and took a seat in the back of the room. Everybody's eyes were on me. I opened up my bookbag and pretended to look for something inside it, not wanting to look at everybody staring at me.
"Ok, class! Turn to page 47 in your books please," Mr. Baker said enthusiastically. I was happy that he hadn't drawn any more attention to me. In fact, he had drawn attention away from me...everybody became more focused on their math books, and I relaxed a little bit. I flipped through my math book until I got to page 47.
"Alright, can everybody in the back of the room see the-" he began. "I can't believe I forgot! We have a new student!" he exclaimed. I could feel my face getting red as everybody looked at me again.
"Why don't you come up here and tell us about yourself!" he said.
"O-ok," I stuttered, walking up to the front of the classroom.
"Uh, my name is Cassidy Madison and, uh...I just moved here from Maine," I mumbled.
"Any reason in particular?" Mr. Baker asked.
"Um, my Dad got a new job," I said. I stood there awkwardly until Mr. Baker said I could go sit down. I sat back down and stared at my math book. Mr. Baker continued with the lesson, and soon math class was over. After that, all of my classes before lunch seemed to go by pretty quickly, and soon I was at Dustin's locker.
"Hey...ready to go meet my friends?" Dustin asked.
"Wait, what?"
"I asked if you were ready to go meet my friends..."
Hello there! Sorry I took longer to post this than I expected...I was a busy bee ;) Anyways, comment for a chapter 5 notification! Thank you so much for the faves and follows! ily guuuys :D

Just a Little Game.

Chapter 3

Beep, beep, beep.
I buried my face in my pillow and moaned. My hand fumbled over the alarm clock, which was still beeping loudly, and I quickly turned it off.
Yawning, I stumbled out of bed and headed over to my closet. I rummaged through it for a while, trying  to find something to wear to school. After a while, I decided on a pair of skinny jeans, a lacy white top from Abercrombie, and a pair of  leather flip flops. I also threw on a few bracelets to accesorize. After that I went into my bathroom, washed my face, and put on some lipgloss, mascara, and a bit of eyeliner. I then ran a brush through my wavy brown hair, deciding not to straighten it. As soon as I was done, I hurried down the stairs, worried that I would be late. Luckily, it was only 7:20, and my Mom had already made breakfast.
"I made these for you honey...I know they're your favorite," she said, handing me a warm cinnamon roll.
"Thanks mom," I said, licking off some sugary, white frosting.
"Do you still want me to give you a ride?" she asked.
"Oh, actually I already have a ride," I said.
Coincidentally, I heard a car pull up in the driveway, and stood up quickly.
"That's him now!" I told her. "Bye!"
"Bye sweetie! Have a good day!"
I grabbed my bookbag and phone, and headed outside to Dustin's car. I opened the door and sat down next to him.
"Hi!" I said, buckling my seatbelt.
"Hey," he replied, backing out of my driveway. "How's it going?"
I sighed. "I'm really nervous."
"Oh, don't worry about it! You'll be fine," he said reassuringly.
"I hope so," I said, looking out the window. Dustin kept his eyes on the road, and we sat there in silence for a while, butterflies fluttering around in my stomach.
- - -
Dustin and I stepped out of the car, and I bit my lip nervously.
"I'm scared," I whispered.
"Don't worry, Cassidy...I'll walk in with you, ok?" he asked. I nodded my head. So we walked over to Whitney's huge double doors, and
I took a deep breath before stepping inside.
Hey guys!I I hope you liked this chapter! I tried to leave a bit of a cliff-hanger...but not be the most intense one ever, but I did my best! Just a Little Game.

Chapter 2; part 2

"So, do you like it here?" he asked as we made our way up the staircase.
"Yeah," I smiled. "I start school tomorrow."
"Cool...what school are you going to?" he asked.
"Whitney High," I answered as we reached my bedroom. We put the boxes on the floor and went back downstairs to get more.
"Oh, Whitney? that's where I go," he told me.
"Really? Awesome!" I replied, happy that I would recognize at least one person at school.
"Do you, uh, need a ride? Tomorrow morning?" he asked, biting down on his lip.
"Sure...can you pick me up at around 7:30?" I asked.
"Yeah, no problem," he said, giving me a half smile. Gosh, he was adorable when he did that.
- - -
By the end of the day, all of the boxes were upstairs, and Dustin had helped me set up my bed. After he had gone home, I put my sheets, polka dot duvet, and pillows on my bed, and then put all of my clothes in my closet. Exhausted, I threw on a pair of Hollister sweatpants, a t-shirt, and climbed into bed.
After all, I needed a good night's sleep for my first day of school.

Just a Little Game.

Chapter 2; part 1

I spent most of the next day bringing boxes upstairs to my room, and unpacking them. As I was dragging a particularly heavy box up the stairs, I heard the door bell ring. Startled, I dropped the box, and it landed on my foot and rolled down the stairs.
"OW!" I shrieked, clutching my foot.
"Cassidy?" my Mom called from downstairs.
"WHAT!?" I screamed. I was so tired, and irritated from lugging boxes upstairs all day. The fact that my big toe was throbbing didn't help either. "There's someone here to see you!" she said.
"Coming!" I groaned.
I stumbled down the stairs, and my mood improved slightly when I saw who was at the door.
"Oh, hi Dustin," I said.
"Oh, you two know eachother?" my mom asked, looking pleased that I had already met someone my age.
"Um, sort of," I said.
"Ok, I'll leave you two alone now," she said, hurrying away.
"So, what's up?" I asked, wondering why he was at my house.
"Well, I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out or something," he said, shrugging his shoulders.
"Aw, I would, but I have to take care of these boxes," I sighed.
"I'll help," Dustin offered.
"Really?" I asked. At that point, I was desperate for help.
"Sure," he said.
"Ok, thanks!" I exclaimed.
"No problem," he said, heading over to the pile of boxes by the stairs. He bent over and picked up the one I had just dropped. I grabbed a smaller one and we both walked upstairs.

Just a Little Game.

Chapter 1

I walked down the street, the sun beating down on my shoulders, and a cool breeze blowing through my hair. I was really in California...it was hard to believe, but it was true.
I had arrived at the new house a few hours ago, followed by multiple moving vans.My parents were already unpacking boxes, and I was planning to help them, but they insisted that I 'get used to the area.'
The street I was walking along was pretty long, and all of the houses located on it, including mine, were huge. My bedroom was on the second floor of the house, and it was everything I could ever hope for. It was easily the biggest room in the house, and it was connected to my own bathroom, plus a balcony, which was probably my favorite part of the whole house.
The weather was amazing. It wasn't to hot, or to humid, and the whole area was just so beautiful. I guess you could sort of say I was in paradise.
Suddenly, lost in my thoughts and not really paying attention to where I was going, I crashed into someone and fell down.
"Oh my God! I'm so sorry!"
"No, that was my fauly...sorry," I mumbled, looking up the boy I had bumped in to. He looked like he was about my age. He had dark brown hair, and his eyes were brown too. He was pretty good looking.
"Here, let me help you," he said, holding out his hand. I reached out and grabbed it, and he helped me stand up.
"Thanks," I said. "And sorry...again."
"It's ok," he said, smiling at me. "I haven't seen you around here before," he added.
"Yeah, my family just moved here from Maine," I explained.
"Oh, cool. Where do you live?" he asked, slipping his hands into his pockets.
"Down there," I said, pointing to my house.
"Nice...my house is right across the street," he told me. "My name is Dustin by the way."
"I'm Cassidy," I replied.
"Nice to meet you, Cassidy," he said, giving me another smile.
"Yeah, you too! I should probably get going though," I said reluctantly, thinking of all of the boxes that needed to be unpacked.
"Ok, see you around," he said, giving me a small wave as he turned around.
"Bye!" I turned around and walked home,
thinking about when I would see Dustin again.

Hey guys! Thanks so much for reading this if you did...I promise it'll get more interesting in a couple chapters :] Comment if you want a notification for chapter 3, & follow for a follow!! Baaaii :p

Just a Little Game.

Prologue

"Cassidy! Can you come down here for a minute?" my parents yelled from downstairs. I sighed, and turned off the music that was playing on my iPod.
"Coming!" I called, hurrying down the stairs. I walked into the living room, where my Mom and Dad were seated on the couch.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Come sit down sweetie," my Mom said, patting the seat next to her.
"We need to talk to you about something," my Dad added.
Oh God, I thought. What do they want to talk about?
"Um, ok," I mumbled, sitting down. "What do we have to talk about?"
"Well, honey..." my Mom said hesitantly, "We're moving."
"Really? Where?" I asked with surprise.
My parents exchanged glances.
"California," they said at the same time.
My jaw dropped. "Seriously!?" I asked excitedly.
"You're not mad?" my Dad asked.
"No!" I exclaimed. It wasn't like I had much of a life here in Maine.
"Well, that was easy!" he said, clapping his hands together and walking in to the kitchen.
"Are you sure you're ok about this?" my Mom asked, tucking her hair behind her hair.
"Yeah! But why are we moving anyway?" I asked curiously.
"Well, your father got a new job, and we thought it would be nice to live somewhere warmer," she said.
"Oh...when are we leaving?" I asked, about a thousand questions swimming through my head.
"Tomorrow," she answered, walking into the kitchen to talk to my Dad.
I sat there smiling for a few minutes, before going back upstairs to my bedroom.
Maybe I would actually have some friends in California.
