Dancing in the
Rain
Emma took a walk late that night. She had to clear
her mind from fighting with her dad. There was a river down the
street a few minutes into the woods. A few friends of hers knew
about it as well. This is the place she would go to when she
would need to think about things. This night was different from
all the others. When Emma got to the river she tripped and fell
face first into the water. She sat up not bothering to get out of
the water and sat there with her eyes closed. Blowing air out of
her mouth and putting her hand on her forehead. Then she heard a
voice "Need some help?" Opening her eyes she see's
her friend Aden standing infront of her. "Going for a little
swim?" Aden asked. "Yeah you know, I just love swimming
alone at night and getting my hair soaked." Said Emma as she
laughed. "well" Said Aden "You still look
beautiful." Aden put out his hand offering to help her up.
Emma took his offer and grabbed his hand. As he helped her up he
pulled her close into him having it so their bodies were
touching. They both got lost stairing into each others eyes then
Emma dropped her head smiling. "I'm sorry." She
said to him worried what he was thinking. "About what?
You've always been like that when it comes to looking into
your eyes." He said to her as he backed up and sat on the
ground. "Here" he said patting the groud next to him.
"This spot is dry." Emma laughed as she walked over and
sat with him. He moved his arm and it glided against her's.
He could feel that she had goosebumps. Without saying anything he
took off his jacket and placed it over her sholders. "Thank
you." Emma said to him smiling. "What are you doing
here so late?" He asked as he pulled her in close to him.
Emma looked at him nevously as he pulled her in. "I
don't want you cold." Said Aden "So are you going
to tell me why the hell you're here so late?" Emma
wanted to tell him about her dad but she was scared if she opened
up to him he would get freaked out and would treat her like
almost everyone else does when she trys to talk about it. So
instead she just made it into a joke hoping he would leave it at
that. "Well, you know.. I love swimming at night."
pretending to laugh and smile while she said it. "Emma,
I've known you for about a year and a half now. You can't
convince me that everything is okay when really nothing is."
Emma looked down "so what?" Emma asked looking out into
the water trying to avoid eye contact. "So tell me"
Aden said softly.
