This Thing
Called Love
Sequel to
Everything Happens for a Reason
Eians
POV:
I
couldnt believe what had just happened. I stood in front of the
front door staring at the street like I had been for minutes on
end, as if I could will them to bring her back. My baby sister
was gone, and it was all my fault.
Ellies
POV:
I
sat next to my mother on the couch attempting to comfort her, but
how I could I? I felt just as heartbroken and betrayed as she
did. I was trying to be strong for her but all I could
manage to do was sob along with her. However, Eian was even more
concerning than my mother. He stood stock-still staring out the
front door with a blank face. He hadnt moved since they'd left
and I couldnt even imagine how he felt. I couldnt believe how
this had happened. I thought back, trying to sort it all out in
my head.
********
The
doorbell rang and Brandon hurried to open the door, sending a
menacing sneer in our direction as if to say "I warned you." He
opened the door and all traces of that sneer was gone; he looked
like a completely different man. He appeared to be sad to have to
do this but I knew it was just an act, we all did except for the
cops. Three police officers stepped through the door and glanced
around. Their eyes stopped on Sophie who was still in Eians arms
and then travelled back to Brandon. Brandon introduced
himself and they asked to speak to him alone. He went with two of
the police officers into the kitchen and the third stayed by us.
My mom tried to ask on what terms were they here but all he told
her was they would explain in a few minutes. We waited what felt
like hours until the officers and Brandon came
back.
"Put her
down." One of the officers said to Eian. Eian glared at him for a
long minute until he finally put Sophie down. He put her on her
feet and she grabbed onto his leg. Brandon rushed over and
grabbed Sophie, sending a wary glance at Eian. Sophie held onto
Brandon but turned away from him and towards me, my mom and Eian;
Brandon was hardly ever home and they barely had any
relationship. She was scared and wanted us which was even more
heart breaking. Two of the officers walked past us and into Eians
room and Eian followed them hastily. Me and my mom didnt move but
we could see into his room.
"What are you
doing? You cant go through my stuff."
"Your father
gave us permission as the owner of the house, we dont need a
warrant." One of them responded as he trifled through his
drawers.
"He's not my
father." Eian spat out, sending a hate-filled glare towards
Brandon. "What are you looking for, why are you even here?!" Eian
questioned.
"There were
claims of drug and alcohol posession of a minor, meaning you." My
blood went cold and my heart dropped.
"What?! Thats
ridiculous!" Eian yelled. The cops finished going through his
closet and luckily they didnt find anything.
"You have to
report to the station station tomorrow for a drug test and blood
test, and you," he turned to my mom and continued, "are being
charged with unfit parenting and negligence."
