two sides to every story.
part 21.
"So are you guys dating, or not." John asked as we
walked up to the concession stand to get snacks. Me and Leslie
looked at each other.
"I'm.. dating Cameron." She sighed, cleared her
throat then looked away. I looked at John.
"that's a no." I confirmed. He just nodded
slowly.
"what do you want.." I asked Leslie, looking around.
"I can pay.." She said, looking in her bag.
"Just tell me what you want." I sighed.
"No, you bought dinner, I can pay for myself." She
argued. I just nodded, not wanting to make a fight out of it.
"do you want anything?" She offered as she moved up to
the cashier.
"nope, I'm good." I sighed. She just smiled, and
started telling the women her order.
"walk with me.." John said, and pushed me away, and we
started walking to the usher, to give him our tickets.
"do you wanna date her." He asked, as we waited for the
girls, up against a wall. I looked around, making sure she
wasn't around.
"yeah, but I needa know more about her first." I
shrugged. He just nodded, understandingly.
"why.." I asked curiously.
"because she does, so.. I just wanted to know, she never fully
moved on, she just wanted you to think she did." He explained.
I just nodded, taking it all in, but not fully understanding
it.
"who?" Jamie asked curiously, leaning her head on Johns
shoulder, and looking up at him, then over to me.
"nobody." John shrugged with a smile. He kissed her
forehead then walked us over to the usher, then we walked to the
theater. Once we got out of the movie, Jamie and John barely knew
what the movie was even about because they were too busy making
out.
"can you take me home now?" Leslie asked, with a half
smile. I nodded, we said bye to Jamie and John, then walked out to
my car.
"you ok?" I asked worriedly as I started driving her to
her house.
"they just...." she trailed off, and looked out her
window.
"they just?" I asked slowly.
"they make jealous." she nearly screamed.
"then.. that jealousy, makes me sad, then that saddness makes
me depressed. Cause.. me and Cameron are NEVER like that.. and they
just remind me of how me and you used to be.." She sighed,
then slammed her head against the head rest of her passenger seat.
I pulled over and she just had her hands over her face.
"have you ever told Cameron about this.. how you're mad
that you and him don't act like how you want him and you to
act.." I asked slowly. She shook her head "No" I
sighed.
"well you need to.. and if he doesn't understand how you
feel, he isn't worth your time.." I said, and just starred
at her. She nodded, and slowly moved her hands away. She looked at
me with a wet, teary face, and a frown. I gave her a smile, and she
just chuckled lightly. She took out her phone and called Cameron.
They had a fight, and she ended up breaking up with him. I hugged
her for awhile as she cried about it, then I drove her to her
house.
"come in?" she asked, as she starred at her dark house.
Nobody was home. I agreed, she led us upstairs and she put her bag
down, and starred at herself in her mirror.
"you were seriously able to look at me and not make fun of me,
while I looked like this.." She asked, and started whipping
her face with a tissue.
"yeah, I was more focused on you being so upset, than how you
looked.." I shrugged, then layed down on her bed. She grabbed
clothes and walked out to the bathroom. I took out my phone and
texted Jamie, since she had texted me, asking about Leslie. We were
talking as Leslie was in the bathroom doing whatever. She came out
in sweats, a huge sweat shirt, and her hair up.
"this sweat shirt look familiar?" she asked,
laughing.
"not at all.." I confessed while laughing, and looking at
her. She stuck her tongue out.
"well it's yours.. or was.." She laughed, then walked
back to her mirror. A couple minutes she walked over to me and sat
down next to me.
"you know what John asked earlier.." She asked, looking
down at her blanket.
"yeah.." I said slowly, looking at my phone.
"well.. I wanna date you... badly, but I don't want to if
you still like Lydia.." She said, then I looked up at her.
"I don't... I have no idea why she was all I wanted once I
woke up.. and I have no idea why I don't remember our past...
but I started liking you, rather quickly by knowing you for such a
short time.." I sighed.
"do you wanna go out?" I asked. She smiled and nodded a
million times, then she bent down and we kissed. It was a long
kiss, then that grew into us starting to make out. AFter a couple
minutes, we stopped and we started talking. After an hour, I left
and went home right before her parents came home.
a couple months later.
I eventually remembered everything about Leslie and our past, and
that just made us even closer than we already were, and we had
gotten closer than we were even before my accident. I never once
returned to that block, or raced, or even drank after that
accident. we're all still in school, it isn't graduation
day yet. I walked through school wondering where Leslie was, since
we usually met up in the morning, then I walked her to her first
class, then we'd meet in lunch, then I'd walk her to
english. I continued on with the day, confused. I never got a text
from her or anything, and that's unusual for her, and us in
general. Once it was finally lunch, I sat in our usual table,
starring at the doors, waiting for Leslie to come, she never
did.
"She's not here." Jamie said, eating her
sandwich.
"where is she?" I asked confused.
"no clue, she wouldn't tell me.. she stayed home from
school. I usually drive her in the morning, and you drive her home,
and when I got to her house this morning, I called her, and she
said that she wasn't coming to school... but refused to tell me
why. She sounded wide awake, and perfectly healthy. She defiantly
wasn't ok, emotional wise, like she was sniffling, so she was
crying, but she didn't sound sick or anything.." Jamie
explained, then shrugged. I nodded, and then left the school, since
I had senior privelege, we could leave during lunch, and free
periods. I drove to her house with Jamie, since I didn't want
to go alone. I parked outside her house, and called her.
"hi." She said shyly.
"look out your window." I smiled. She groaned, then I saw
her blinds bend down.
"are you crazy.." she nearly screamed. I laughed.
"I'm coming outside.." She sighed annoyed, then
hungup. I got out of the car, and Jamie refused to. I walked up to
her front door, and I wrapped her in a hug as soon as she walked
outside.
