This isn't
a deadly disease, and she
is only disabled in one way. And that,
is her treatment. There is so much going
on at school, such as people laughing
at her, ignoring her, and saying mean
things to her. She is the most beautiful
person I know both inside and out. Her
heart is huge, and she loves the world,
no matter how cruel it is to her. It also
kills me inside every time someone
says "retarted" as a derogatory. And,
sometimes, I may get angry with her,
but I love her so much, and I wouldn't
want her any other way. This seems
to be the case with most people who
are mentally challenged. Talk to
them like you would any other person.
Make them laugh. Laugh with them.
Say hi to them in the hall. Draw them a
picture. Give them a high five. Invite them
to sit with you at lunch. Write them a note.
Don't care what anyone else thinks.
Give them a place in your heart, and you'll
have one in theirs. Smile at them. Compliment
them. Give them candy. Ask about their day.
Make up a handshake with them. Give
them a card. Take a picture with them.
Anything you do would make their
day.
