They are "display names". It's my solution to changing usernames. You can set a display name for yourself by clicking on "Account Settings" under your profile picture in the header.

this question is a bit awkward for me to phrase but i'll try:
you know how on tumblr, you can look at what people tag their posts with by adding '/tagged/inserttaghere' to the end of their url? do you think we'd ever be able to have that on witty, where we can add tagged/inserttaghere after their username and it would show quotes they've posted under that tag, or would it just be a little pointless?
