That awkward moment when you realize Barbie has a better life than you......
Sweet Summah Lovin

chapter thirteen
Jake slowly came to a stop, "im sure its nothing Zoey, probably a little rabit or somethin" . I look back in the direction the noise was comin from "yeah, youre probably right" I said slowly trying to convince myself that Jake was right. we started going to the pond again, even during the day the pond was beautiful, the sun reflected off of it perfectly.

i climbed of spot and let him graze with Jakes horse, completely comfortable with it cause i knew he wasnt going to take off. Jake was standing by the tree, i made sure to turn the volume on my cell phone off this time. I started walking towards him hands in pockets, "wait! turn around and dont move."Jake sounded suspicious, "uhh okay ?" i wasnt sure what to think. after a few minutes i sat down in the grass, "alright you can look" i got up and brushed my butt off, and turned around to look at him and what he was up to.

it was perfect, he had a red and white checkered picnick blanket out on the ground with a little basket with some food in it next to the blanket. i walked over to him, "this is perfect jake" i said as i was sitting down next to him, "you really think so?" he scootched closer to me. "absolutely" i slide over to him so our hips were touching, i looked up at him at he looked down at me, he leaned down and kissed my forehead.

chapter 09 //sequel to 'summer nights'

  "Yeah, actually..." I look down.
"So why is it that you can be happy, but I can't?" He stands up, he looks upset. I feel terrible, I'm in-love with his brother. I shrug my shoulders and go outside. Chace is rummaging through his bag. I sneak up behind him, and put my arms around his waist. It jumps him at first, but he turns around, and rests his arms on my shoulders.
"Whatcha lookin' for?" I ask him, my voice still sounds a little shaky from talking to Blake.
"Nothin'," He says. "Well, something, but it's a surprise."
"Oh, for me?" I slide in closer to him, he nods. "What is it?"
"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise now, would it?" He laughs. I slide back, and make a puppy dog face. He smiles, and turns back around.
"Fine, when can I see it?" I sigh.
"Uh, when we get home." He replies. I sit by the door.  I wait for him to finish rummaging through his bag, and come over to me. He sits down next to me. I lean on his shoulder.
"I feel like I screwed everything up." I say. "Blake hates me, and you think I'll start liking him again." I feel my throat swell, and my eyes start to fill with water.
"I'm sure he doesn't hate you." Chace puts his arm around me. "And, I just don't wanna lose you, you know that." He whispers in my ear.
"I know, I just can't imagine how it feels to see us happy, because I left him for you."
"Probably feels a little like it did when you met his girlfriend." He stands up, and helps me up. His words slap me in the face. If he's happy, I should let him be.  We go inside, and I sit down on the edge of the bed. Blake's sleeping already. Chace and I stay quiet, watching old movies that are on the TV.  "Hey, Megan..." Chace interrupts the silence. I look towards him. "I should really tell you," He takes a deep breath. "I'm going into the Marine's."
"Chace!" I try to stay quiet because Blake's sleeping. "What!? When?! Why?!"
"Calm down, it'll start off with just about five months training, and I'll be back for a bit. I'm supposed to leave in about three weeks, but I've only told you and Blake. "
"I just...." I pause. "I love you, I'd hate it if you got hurt."
"I won't. I'll be fine." He kisses my cheek, and turns off the TV.  "Goodnight."
"How do you expect me to sleep now?" I sigh. I cover myself with the blankets, and toss and turn until I fall asleep.
I feel myself tossing and turning, I'm in the middle of a nightmare, but I can't wake up from this.  I keep tossing and turning, I start to panic.
"Megan!" My arm is shaken. "Please, wake up..." I open my eyes, confused about what just happened.  Chace looks at me, he looks so scared. My shirt is covered in sweat.

worn out boots.

chapter 06 //sequel to 'summer nights'

Chace and Blake talk for awhile, while their mom shows me around the house. It's gorgeous. Nothing I'd see back home. It's too modern.  "Well, it's nice of you both to show up." She smiles. "Would you like some tea?"
"Uh, no thank you, I'm not much of a tea person." I reply, trying to sound as polite as possible. She nods, and pours herself a cup.
"So, hun, Blake told me you guys went out for awhile...What happened, if you don't mind me asking." She sits down across from me, her legs crossed. She's wearing pointed-toe high-heels, while I'm sitting almost like a guy with my worn out boots.
"I started talking to his brother, jus' before he left, and he broke up with me." I sigh, I don't like the feeling I get when I talk about it.
"He hasn't stopped talking about you since he got here...You're much prettier than he described." She smiles.
"Thank you, ma'am." I smile back, and watch the boys come in. The boys sit down next to me, and kick their feet up. I get up, and sit in the kitchen. I flip through a magazine on the counter, it's a Home&Garden magazine. I sigh, and look over to the guys. They're watching the football recaps.
"Hun, wanna help me out real quick. I need some new flowers, but I don't know which ones. Come here." She motions me towards her. I look out the door, and see a path full of different colored flowers.
"Woah," I'm shocked. "I've never seen anything like this... I like the small sunflowers."
"Alright, thanks. I like those too." She snips them. "If you'd like, I can show you to your room." I nod. After she puts the flowers in a vase, she takes me up the grand staircase to my room. I see an open door, it's Blake's room. Mine's right next to his. It's a light pink color, something I'm not fond of.  After she shows me my room, she points out Chace's room, it's across from mine. It's a dark natural green, he'll like it.
"These rooms are gorgeous," I look around. "Your whole house...It belongs in a magazine."
"Thank you." She says. "You can call me, Miss Ames, or Cheryl."
"Ames?" I say. "So, is that Blake's original last name?"
"Yes..." She sits down at the kitchen table. I've noticed that the boys have gone back outside.
"If you don't mind me asking, Miss Ames, why did you let the boys go to the Lucas family?"
"Well," She takes off her reading glasses. "First, I wasn't ready for Chace, and I figured he'd be brought up just well on a ranch...But Blake, he just, I wanted him to be with his brother, and their father wasn't very happy with me having kids at the time."
"Was I a mistak then?" Blake says.
