My school did a bullying program after the publicity of the Phoebe Prince incident. The whole thing was very long and slightly boring. They just kept repeating the same things we've been hearing since kindergarten. At the end of the program, the principal of my school got up on stage with a piece of paper in her hands. Meanwhile the teachers were handing a piece a paper to every student in the auditorium. She walked up to the microphone, and tapped it. "Bullying is never gone. I want all of you to look at you piece of paper. None of them are crumpled right?" We looked at her, and at the students around us, then at the paper. "Now fold them in half." We all did so, and sat waiting for the next step to this odd turn of events. Now try to flatten your paper. Notice how no matter how hard you try to flatten it, there's always a thin indented line in the middle. This is like an insult. Or a punch. A dent to the beautiful outer layer." All of us were bewildered. She continued. "Now I want everyone to crumple there paper into as small of a ball as possible. Then try to make it flat again. And you'll see the problem."
