This is me.
chapter
two
"Why's Emmie so eagar to
leave this place?" Mom asks me. "I don't know,
just think she's desperate for a fresh start."
"Mmh, something's going on Katelyn," mom was
convinced the whole car drive to the airport something was
fishy with Emmie.
It was normal for a fourteen year old girl to want to forget
her forbidded past, right? Nobody want's to latch on to or
cling onto the fact dad left us for that idiot.
"You're talking about me," Emmie said.
"I'm sitting back here, y'no?" she said. Mom
didn't really care. "Maybe she's had an argument
with Casey." "MOM!?" Emmie said and mom
chuckled. "What's the matter Emmie?" she asked
looking back at Emmie for a second, then repositioning her eyes
on the road.
"Nothing," Emmie mumbled a bit too quickly and
that's when my suspicions arouse. "Whats wrong, then?
Did Casey have an argument with you?" "No," she
snapped.
Yeah, something was definitely going on. "Emmie please
tell me," I pleaded doing my puppy-dog eye look. She found
it hard to resist so turned to look out the window. I stayed in
place and she peeked back at me to see if I weren't
looking, but when she saw my piercing eyes she turned to the
outside world.
After a few minutes, she peeked again. "WHAT!?" she
yelled at me. "What's wrong, Emmie?" I asked.
"I told you, alright!? NOTHING, and that means NOTHING is
wrong!" Something was obviously wrong. "Did Casey
die?" she shook her head. "Did your boyfriend split
up with you?" she didn't shake her head, she just
sobbed. "Oh Emmie - I'm so sorry!" I climbed in
the back with Emmie. "Gosh Katelyn - you shouldn't
just climb like that, I could've crashed." I hugged
Emmie.
"That's not the problem, though," she sobbed
harder. What could possibly be - then it hit me.
She was pregnant?
"No -?" she nodded and cried into my shoulder.
"Sorry Kate I didn't, I wasn't -" she cried.
"Shh now," "What's wrong?" mom asked
looking in the mirrors at me and Emmie. Emmie looked at me
pleadingly. "Uh - Reese broke up with Emmie,"
"Oh no my poor
baby!"
