The point of her quote wasn't what the bible had to say, it was that people don't have to follow the bible because of freedom of religion. Respecting another religion doesn't mean becoming a part of that region

I Know it's in the old testament, but that does mean that it was once gods message to the world, correct? I know, Old Testament was before, New Testament was after Jesus. Here's some from the New Testament then. John 12:25 "Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life." New American Standard Bible (©1995)
"If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple." Better?

Oh, and the Old Testament was stopped because Jesus died for our sins, correct? Doesn't that mean that god still believes in all those things, he just thinks your debt has been paid?

The old testament wasent stoped because jesus died for are sins. The law was complete because of it but the same sins still apply to the new testament
