Firefly
Chapter 12
Our grip broke, and I
swam to the surface. Both our heads bobbed above the water at the
same time as we gasped for air, still giggling.
We began to make our way to shallower water, and when I could
touch the floor, I turned to face him. “Told you you could
trust me,” I assured him, latching on to his neck and
wrapping my legs around his waist.
He smiled down at me, putting his hands on my waist. “I
knew I could.”
His eyes seemed so perfect as the reflection of the water
glistened off them. His eyes looked into mine, and before
anything else could happen, his lips were pressed against mine.
His tongue brushed against my lower lip, begging for entrance, so
I let it pass, where it battled with mine for dominance. He moved
his hands down my back and over my thighs and up my back once
again, and I ran my fingers through his curled hair and down the
back of his neck.
When we both stopped for air, my eyes found his. I giggled at
him. “That was nice.”
He laughed. “Yeah,” he snorted, “It
was.”
He carried me from the water to the shore. I sprinted across the
sand to the boardwalk to grab my sweatshirt and shoes, and he
followed me. I silently wished he wouldn’t put his shirt
back on because he looked so perfect with it off.
On our way back to his car, we were stopped by a lifeguard, who
warned us that what we were doing was against the law.
“Oh,” I stammered, a little taken aback. “Well,
we won’t do it again. Sorry.”
“Well,” she murmured, eyeing Caleb, “I guess I
can let it slide this time.”
She wasn’t the prettiest thing. Her wildly frizzy red hair
was pulled into a ponytail and she was short and heavy, wearing a
visor and black sunglasses. Though my brown hair wasn’t
combed and my brown eyes weren’t lined with makeup, I
outshined her.
He smiled without acknowledging her. “Thanks!” he
called as we started walking to his car.
We slid in, and he immediately switched the AC on.
“So,” he started as he drove back to my house,
“What about doing something tonight?”
“Oh,” I sighed, shaking my head, “I can’t
take Friday’s off.”
“How about I pick you up from work? The pool closes early,
so—“
“No!” I objected as he parked the car. “No,
really, don’t. I mean, just…”
He smiled, throwing his hands up. “Okay, don’t worry,
another night.”
I nodded, relieved. “Tomorrow, for lunch?”
He smiled. “Okay. How about Red’s?”
I smiled at him. “That
works.”
Argarar. I hate this chapter too. Filler, don't mind it,
it gets better next chapter.
