There was a girl,
she was 15
and everyday when she got home from school
she looked in the mirror,
and judged herself.

She did this for 5 weeks,
until she finally had enough,
that was the day that changed her life.

She picked up the razor blade,
and slit her wrists
for the first time.

The next morning she woke up,
when she got dressed she put on a tank top
then remembered what she had did the day before
she regreted it so bad.

She already got looked at for just being her,
now people looked at her for a different reason,
she didn't like it... at all.

That was the worst mistake of her life,
yet she kept picking up that blade,
everytime regreting.

She still has thoes scars today,
it may be only 3 months since she first did it
but she's stronger now,
and now whenever she looks at those scars,
she thinks to herself,
"I did it." "I'm finally strong."
On the outside was a girl,
people always thought of her as the
beautiful, confident, happy go lucky girl.

But she knew that wasn't the real her,
the real her was hidden underneath
her smile, and skin.

The real her was,
insecure, sad, and depressed.

But no one ever saw the real her,
because it was hidden underneath,
all her scars and fake smile.

No one would ever
know the real her,
ever.

there is something
inexpressibly beautiful
about the world
when the sun begins to rise
and fill the dim sky
with soft rays of light
and only the birds are awake
to sing to you "good morning"
while everyone else
is curled up in their beds
unaware of the magnificence
they're missing
and everything feels so simple
it's as if six a.m. is an epiphany
that sparks at your fingertips
and spreads until
you are encompassed entirely
by a feelin of clarity
there is something
inexpressibly beautiful
about being awake to behold
the splendor of this world
while everyone else
is still asleep.

Once, there was a little girl with green eyes,
and everyday she wore her dark brown hair in little pigtails.

When the girl was seven she watched her older sister,
standing there in front of her mirror,
judging herself,her weight, her everything.
That morning neither of them ate anything.

When the girl was only eight,
she watched her older brother laugh at a girl,
for wearing glasses and reading on the bus.
That afternoon the girl went home and hid all her books in the basement.

At the age of twelve, the girl was at school,
watching and listening to all the other older girls,
with long, straight hair and short skirts,
puttin on make-up in the school bathroom,
and listened to them say that boys will only like you
if you were perfect,
the next day the girl showed up at school with pink lip stick,
short skirts, and she had taken down her pigtails and exchanged them,
for straight hair.

At the age of fourteen
the girl watched her father hit her mother for the first time,
when her mother noticed her stading in the doorway, watching everything that had just happend,
she told her that daddy didn't mean it,
next year she told herself the same thing her mother told her,
"He didn't mean it" when her boyfriend hit her.

When the girl was sixteen
she was as thin as paper and empty,
with straight brown hair, and red lips
white skin, and life-less green eyes,
while she was staring at herself in the bathroom mirror,
she told herself, "Well atleast I'm normal."
