first of all, i like your story. scratch that, I REALLY liked it. At first it seemed like any other story where there's an abusive father and usually a mother that has pasted away leaving a lonely, broken for some reason (always) talented daughter. Then of course a guy comes along and makes things better. But your story is different. It is simply just the way that you write. I couldn't quite but my finger on it. Maybe it's the use of an extensive vocabulary learned from school and put to good use. Or is it the way that you subtley have the feelings of the characters showing, without being too much. So the only thing is that I suggest you do is avoid repeating certain feelings too often and to stay away from saying his "blue eyes" so often, that is unless you want the readers to actually truly get to know what it's like to fall in love. If my long comment here is too pushy or however you may want to describe it, I apologize. I mainly wanted to say, I really liked your story and keep up with the good work!
