Chapter Twenty-Four Part One.
Tabitha's P.O.V.
My
eyes became huge, like they were going to pop out of my
head. A little cry of suprise came out of my mouth. When I
finally did notice it, the pain began. My skin was pusling
over it. I knew it wouldn't be a smart idea to try and
pull it out but that was my first thought when I seen it,
but of course I didn't. I squeezed my eyes shut trying
to reposition my leg, which I couldn't. I was tied down
to the stretcher which was laying on it's side. My
hands were under the straps to secure me down, so I
wouldn't move and my injuries that were sustained
would be safe. My leg was was turned mostly to the left,
like my kneecap had been popped out of place for it to
get into that very position, and my leg was going numb
because of it sitting this way. I knew that my blood flow
was probaby being cut off which is the best thing in
this situation that could happen, honestly. I closed
my eyes, thinking of my family, thinking of my
mom when she sees my dad, thinking of how much
everything is going to change after today. Then, as if I
had totally forgotten, I remembered Anna. After I had
passed out, who knows what had happened to her. I squinted
my eyes, furrowing my brow. She helped me through all
of this and I didn't even get to thank her.
I heard a nearby ambulance heading to the
scene and I just kept my eyes closed, and I would this
whole time. I knew that they would work on getting my dad
out before they got me, because he's dead and
I'm still alive. The pain was subsiding more and more
as my leg got number, and soon it was hard to feel
it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maybe I had fallen asleep, but when I woke up I was in a
hospital bed. This room seemed familiar, as I had
remembered being here after the bathroom
accident. Recovery already? It seemed like just
yesterday that all of this happened, well it could have
just happened yesterday for all I know. I brought myself
back into reality when I heard the heart machine start
to beat faster. I just stared at it confused, wondering why
it was picking up it's pace, because I was
feeling no change in anything. It took a minute to realize
what was happening. I felt the dull pressured pain on
the left side of my chest, and pain began to rip
through my body. It felt as if someone was sitting on
my chest, literally. I couldn't catch my breath,
and breatheing was becoming quite hard. A doctor
rushed in, hearing the sound of the heart monitor going
off. She grabbed the remote by my head calling the
front desk. "I NEED BACKUP, ROOM 195 IS
HAVING A
HEARTATTACK!"
Chapter Twenty-Three Part Three.
Hadie's P.O.V.
My brain felt like a pillow, fluffy
but overused.. Like I was floating in space.. as
if my time was of the essence. I felt like I had a
brain freeze. It wasn't icy frozen though, it was
frozen like when someone screams "FREEZE!" in
freeze-tag, and you stand completely still. I
couldn't think, not one single thought crossed my mind.
I wasn't dreaming, because I could still hear
Alexanders words lingering in my mind. "Stay with me,
stay with me Hadie!" I could sense the tension in his
voice. I couldn't lead myself back into conciousness. I
tried following his voice, but my brain was so cloudy and
hazy I couldn't reach the checkpoint. I felt his hand
touch mine and i reached for it, but there was nothing
there. Was I imagining things now? My hands were tingling,
and I could feel them again. My mind began to sprint
through the haze and my eyes flew open. I looked up, and
Alexander was staring at me. I looked at my skin, and there
was no more swelling, and I felt much, much better.
"Thank you so much Alex-." But I got interuptedd
when I heard the low growl come out of Tod's throat,
confused I looked over for him and he wasn't
there. "Where's Tod?" I asked. He didn't
answer me, but continued to stare. I looked around and
found Tod in a chair looking straight at me as well,
with no expressional puppy-looking face on him. He had
a serious, almost scary look on his face. "Tod?"
I said, trying to determine what was wrong. I heard the low
throaty growl again. "Ale-Alexander? What's wrong
with him?" When I looked at him, he was staring at me
in the same way Tod was. I began to honestly get
frightened, and I scooted away. "Wh-wh-what's
wrong with you?" I shook with anxiety. He didn't
speak a single word, but he got up and walked
away. I watched him walk through a swinging door that lead
to what I assumed looked like a kitchen. I heard rattling
like silverwear, and my stomach growled. "Maybe
he's getting me food?" I thought in my head. But I
was wrong. I heard the door swing open and I watched as
Alexander approached me with a huge butcher knife.
"Wh-wh-what are you-." I didn't have time to
ask him before Tod lunged off the chair, towards Alexander.
Or atleast I thought. Sadly, he ended up on me, making
that low throaty growl again. I began to twist and
turn, trying to push him off of me. I was
un-successful. I threw myself back onto the pillow and
looked left and right for Alexander but he was no where to
be found and I closed my eyes. Looking up I screamed,
screeching like a bird, literally. Over me he
stood, his different ora was flowing off of him. His
eyes were pitch back, when they used to be dark
brown. I shrunk even more into the pillow. He stared
at me for a minute, and I seen his hand raise, the blade
reflecting off of the light. I watched as he plunged
the knife forward, where it would soon collide with my
collarbone.
Chapter Twenty-Three Part Two.
Davin's P.O.V.
It was hard not to be loud, seeming
as how every move I made the floorboards screamed at me.
The smell of blood lingered in the air. I hated that smell.
It smelled metalic, and rusty. Like iron. It was making me
naucious so I plugged my nose with my
fingers, but letting go two minutes later. My
face was still acheing because it hadn't healed, my
head was pounding too. It was so hard keep on fighting
rather then just giving up. I sounded like a wimp, but I
would not take that name and I would not give up. I slid
against the wall, making very little noise
except the noise of my shirt's
resistance. The front door was wide
open, the sun's shadow creeping in. I squinted
against the light. This house was so dark it didn't
seem like it would be day. Maybe because there weren't
many windows, and only one door leading outside.
I hadn't seen any light switches, which I thought
was pretty odd about this place. I crept towards the
front door, sliding my feet across the floor that had
atleast an inch of dirt covering it. I pushed myself
off the wall and towards the front door. I walked
outside, and looked at the sky, the sun was so bright but
no heat seemed to come from it. I didn't understand
this. It made me wonder if this place didn't have
seasons, or if it had any kind of climate change at all. I
struggled to keep my balance on the hard dried
out ground. There wasn't any grass, it was all
dirt. I looked down studying it, and noticed little
droplets of blood, right along with foot indentions. I
followed them to the edge of woods by Luca's back yard,
and paused when I seen something laying by a big oak tree.
The shape was hard to miss, and I shrinked back in disgust.
There were guts, brains, whatever body parts were laying
out all over the dirt. It was obviously the beast laying
there, but something was wasn't right about it. A huge
writhing lump on it's stomach caught my attention, and
I stood there confused, and senseless. Covered in blood was
Bailey, and Luka was no where to be
found.
Chapter Twenty-Three Part One.
Tabitha's P.O.V.
Voices
were all around me, like a thousand tiny jumbled up puzzle
pieces in my mind. The voices felt so far away, but I was
in and out of conciousness. I tried to focus, like
they were telling me to, but everytime my eyes finally
focused they rolled back in my head. I felt the paramedic
slicing off my shirt from the side. It was after she
removed it that I heard the "Oh nos" of people
around me. I eventually heard Catrinas voice, sleepily
asking what was happening. I felt my mom get off the
couch, the air coming back into the cusion. I
heard something crash into the front door, but
soon after realized that It was them bringing in the
stretcher. I wanted to tell them to get me a blanket
because I was so cold, but I
couldn't respond. I groaned in agony, but no noise
surfaced out of my mouth. Catrina was argueing with my
mom about what happened, but my mom wouldn't let
her come in the room. I didn't blame her,
though. I heard a loud thump as if someone dropped
next to me on their knees "Oh no, no no no how bad is
it? Is she okay? Is she dead?" I heard a male voice
ask, I assumed it was my dad, but it was too faint to
makeout the voice. I heard the chorus of the
paramedics in unison. "One, two, three." And I
was lifted onto the stretcher. I felt my side being
strained from the bandages they had on me, trying
desperately to stop the blood flowing casually out of the
wound deep within the walls of my ribs. I still never got
how I kept running after being shot, but I had the will
power to make it this far. I felt the wheels vibrating the
bed I was strapped to. It was a good kind of sensation, it
was pretty comforting. I wanted to fall asleep, but I kept
hearing a voice telling me to stay with them, not to close
my eyes. I couldn't get the message to my brain fast
enough though, because I was already closing my eyes. I was
so tired, keeping awake wasn't a option anymore. The
sirens rang loud in my ear, the screeching sound of the
tires came next. The next thing I new I was strapped
to a sideways stretcher, In the back of what used to be an
ambulance. I struggled to regain my eyesight,
going cross-eyed. I felt something dripping onto the
side of my head. I dizzily and drousily turned my head to
the left, and let out a scream I would have never
imagined would come from my lungs. Above my
head was Dad, staring at me with
glossy wide open eyes. I screamed louder, terrified. I knew
he was dead from the way his neck was placed. I could
see the bones in his neck in dissarray. I started
twisting and turning trying to get away from the horrible
sight. I was so scared, so horrified. "Why is this
happening to me?" I kept shouting over and over out
loud, It sounded like a scream but it was only the remnents
of one. I couldn't tell what was happening to me.
When I looked down at my leg, I seen the reason for
most of my pain. A twisted rod from the heartpacer machine
was sticking through
it.
Chapter Twenty-Two Part Three.
Hadie's P.O.V.
I felt a warm sensation all over my face. I
awoke to dried blood on my shirt, and Alexander on the
floor next to the bed. I turned my head to the right, Tod
was on the bed next to me. My face lit up with
excitement, and I went to lift my arm to pet him but
something kept my arm held down. I looked left down at my
arm and a IV was hooked to it. I looked up at Alexander,
freaking out. I HATED needles."Wh-" "Before
you ask, it was only nessecary." "What do you
mean nessecary? I'm fine." "Hadie, you've
lost a lot of blood. Fine isn't a good word to be using
right now." "You need to rest."
"I'm not tired." I argued with him back and
forth or a good 10 minutes until he got out another
needle. I looked him straight in the eye. "You
wouldn't dare." I glared at
him. "Watch me." He then stuck the
needle into my arm, and a sense of tiredness washed over me
immediately. I knew when I woke up he'd pay
for doing this, but my mind became fuzzy and I laid my
head on Tod, falling fast asleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Was this a dream? It sure felt like real life to me. I
was surrounded by woods, hopelessly lost. A
sunset was breaking along the horizon, owls were hooting
over my head. In the distance a coyote howled claiming
it's prey. My eyes wondered around exploring every nook
and cranny. I didn't miss a single beat.
I walked slowly through the forest, it
was overgrown with weeds and sunflowers. I smelled
honeysuckles flourishing somewhere near here. Then I seen
it. A beautiful circle of purple, pink, orange, white,
blue, every color you could ever imagine a flower was.
I walked towards it, bending down to smell it. Then
they hit me. Millions and millions of bees flew out
from a hive right above my head, the stinging was non-stop.
My body was swelling like a balloon, I just wanted to
wakeup but I couldn't.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I awoke, coughing and breatheing in air. Alexander was
working heavily over me, applying ice packets all over my
body. "OPEN UP HADIE!" I opened my mouth and he
shoved a pill down my throat. I didn't know what it was
but I swallowed it hastily. He ripped the IV out of my
arm, and I screeched in pain. I looked up at my body,
and it was swollen, just as it was in the dream.
"Wh-wh-what's wrong with me?" I couldn't
comprehend it, it was like the dream was coming true.
"YOU'RE ALLERGIC TO THE MORPHINE!" He
yelled in my face. It was already in my bloodstream.
How was he going to stop the swelling? My head was
pounding. Like it was going to erupt. "The
morphine is reacting with.. with my brain." I said,
shakily. "Could my brain explode? Could it swell
so big it just pops?" "Please don't
think like that Hadie, please just lie still. LIE
STILL!" He began to shout at me, hurting my
brain even more. I began to cry, everything
was hurting me. I could feel Tod lapping up the tears
that started coming out of my eyes. I felt Alexander shove
another needle into my arm. "Stay with me Hadie,
please stay with me." But, I couldn't. I just
couldn't.
Chapter Twenty-Two Part two;
Davin's
P.O.V.
It was two inches or so from my face, and I just sat there
useless. I couldn't do anything for myself. For all I
knew I could be two minutes or less from my death. All
it would have to do is aim for my throat. It's
claws were weighing down my chest making it impossible to
breathe, and my brain ached. I couldn't understand
the next noise I heard, but I seen Luka grab the
beast. I wondered in my head how it was possible for it to
have found us, but my only guess was that it had followed
us. It got quiet, and when I couldn't hear
anything I turned my head. Luka, nor the beast were in
the room anymore. I struggled to lift myself up, deeming it
impossible I fell back onto the bed. I gently turned myself
onto my side every bone in my body felt like they had been
into a blender. I faced away from the door, falling into a
deep sleep. I was too exhausted to worry anymore. I
dreamt of life as a human again. It was weird saying that I
wasn't a human, but it was impossible to still be one.
I had pain, headaches, wounds, like a human, but I
wasn't. I was more of a human-figured ghost, sorta, or
maybe I was still a human but I just don't know how
that's possible.. That word actually made me laugh and
I ended up waking up laughing. I wasn't sure how long I
was asleep, but I turned to look around and Luka still
hadn't been back. It looked to be pretty bright in the
room, so i assumed that it had to be nearly noon, or
afternoon. I grunted, still exhausted. I realized I had the
sudden urge to pee. I didn't know if I could get up,
but I had to try. I rolled, more than lifted up, out of bed
onto my feet. Pain ripped through my muscles like
lightening. I toppled over. My stomach was growling,
impatiently gurgling. I realized that it had been atleast
four days that I hadn't ate anything, and the last REAL
food I had was out of my system by now. I also realized
that I was insanely dehydrated. My tounge was so dry that I
couldn't even talk. I knew how bad it was and how fast
you can die from dehydration in a week. I lifted myself
back up slowly this time, not pushing it. I took one step
at a time towards the only door other then the front door,
hoping this led to a bathroom or a kitchen atleast. I
opened the door and it happened to be another bedroom. I
cursed under my breath, just my luck that I had to walk
longer than I wanted to. On the other side of the bed was a
open door leading to a bathroom. I began to try and
walk faster, feeling as if my blatter was going to explode
if I didn't. By the time I got to the bathroom I was so
insanely dizzy. I shouldn't be walking around with a
concussion. I pulled down my pants, realizing that I
couldn't stand up and go pee. I would have ended
up falling over if I did. I sat down, feeling awkward about
it. I felt feminine when I sat down to pee, but it
wasn't by choice. It was either feel feminine or
collapse, much rather feel feminine. Over the sound of me
peeing I heard a crash in the back room, it sounded far
away. I was just about done peeing when it happened, so I
got up as fast as it was possible for me to and turned out
the light. Cowering in the corner just under the sink.
There was a lot of rucus going on, so if they were to look
for me maybe they wouldn't find me. I pulled my knees
to my chest trying not to be loud. I heard a really loud
thump, then nothing. I felt stupid for wanting to
investigate, and knew that it could cost me my life, but I
did anyways. I needed something to eat and drink. I
couldn't sit and wait for this to roll over. I crawled
on my hands and knees to the door, sliding one knee in
front of the other. I peeked my head around the door of the
bedroom and didn't see anything. I crawled through
the bedroom, I would have gotten up but I was just too
weak. Just before I got to the bedroom door I stopped. I
used the bed to help myself up. I knew if I had to run, I
had to stand up weak or not. I walked slowly peeking around
the corner. Blood stained the walls, and was
splattered everywhere. The couch was stained
red, as well. I knew that if this was Luka's blood, I
wouldn't make it out of here
alive.
Chapter Twenty-two.
Tabitha's P.O.V.
The red stain was rapidly growing on my
shirt. I didn't know where I had been hit but I looked
over at Anna frightened. I felt so numb, as if I was given
a numbing medicine. I kept running, I didn't want to
die. I wanted to live, and It was going to happen. I looked
back to see the woman had stopped running. She looked warn
out, but she was aiming the gun right at us. When I heard
the bullet go off I grabbed Anna and veered left off and
out of her sight. I felt the bullet buzz right past the
back of my head while I was turning, and I felt my heart
race pick up, realizing that that one bullet could have
just ended my life, ended everything.
I couldn't stop running. It was like my legs were on a
tredmill. You know how, you get on one of those things and
you CAN'T STOP WALKING, or you'll fall off.
That's how it was. I was determined to get as far away
as possible. My vision was blurry a little like I was going
to black out. That didn't stop me from running, though.
I'd run until I collapsed. My legs were already numb, I
figured it would be any time. I looked over at Anna, seeing
that she was tired too. I didn't even want to look down
at my shirt, I didn't want to know where I had gotten
shot. "Where... are... we.., Anna?" I asked her
after every breath. She looked around. "I'm not
sure.. I've never been in these woods before." I
felt so hopeless. I knew we were going to end up dead if we
didn't keep moving. I looked up in the sky, and seen a
sunset burning orange and yellow in the distance. I looked
around me again, seeing that there was no openings in
sight. I started talking to Anna again, who was looking
down at my shirt. It looked like the blood was starting to
dry, and I could feel my shirt sticking to my skin. I
figured if I hadn't bled out anymore it couldn't
have been too bad. Anna turned her head to the right and
let out a big goofy grin. "TABITHA LOOK!" I
looked and seen a small opening that led to a street. I
have never felt so happy. I began to run and felt my
feet hit soft dirt and realized there was a trail. I ran
into the the opening, and out onto the street, looking
around I recognized nothing. "I KNOW WHERE I AM!"
And screamed a whisper to me. "I don't." I
said, sadly. "We're right by Callend Street."
"Wait... That's not far from my house! We've
been by my house this whole time!" We started to
sprint. "If you can get my to Callend Street, I can
make it to my house." She started to run towards the
end of the street, taking another right. In front of us was
a long twisty road. "At the end of this street to the
left is Callend street."
It seemed like forever to get to the end of Slinret Road,
when we got there I turned left towards Callend. "My
streets right ahead!" We stopped running to catch
ourbreath but I realized that my adrenaline had just kicked
in and I started to run again, Anna next to me. I turned
onto my street, and in front of my house was three cop
cars. I started to run faster, my side was acheing. I
reached it to my house, and ran through the door. I
collapsed before I got the chance to talk. My side was
acheing. I couldn't catch my breath. I heard a cop
scream "GET A AMBULANCE HERE NOW, THIS GIRL ISN'T
GOING TO MAKE IT!" I heard my moms familiar voice when
she sounded like she was about to cry. I heard her began to
talk into the phone as the three police officers, I assume,
were lifting me to the couch. "Please get here now my
daughter has been shot!"
