"Sticks & stones may break my bones, but words can
never hurt me."
Whoever wrote this, I call complete and total bullsh!t.
Biggest lie ever.
Don't get me wrong,
I understand that suicide is a huge issue, what I don't
understand is how only
one
suicide really gets the attention of the media, More than one
person has attempted, or succeded, at suicide.
Almost 11 people attempt suicide every day,
and people think that this problem is just going to go away on
its own. News flash, it won't. Suicide and self-harm are
like
dirty little secrets,
just gathering dust in a metaphorical closet, and that is not
okay.
If we continue to ignore suicide
until it seems "worthy" of our attention it will not
get better. I know people realize that suicide happens, but
don’t do anything to help it. You can, you can compliment
someone, sometimes something as small and seemingly meaningless
as a smile can keep someone holding on. And just letting
someone know that
they are loved
can save a life. Every single day, I write love on my arm,
because one day for suicide awareness is not enough. Right on
the inside of my wrist.
Not just for girls who self-harm,
who have taken their own lives, and for the girls who have
attempted, but for anyone who has ever considered it, so that
just maybe, if they see it they will realize that they are
loved much more than they know, and that suicide is a
perminate solution to a temperary problem.
I love you all, stay strong Xx
