CHAPTER 8: (part 3)
Sams P.O.V:
April cradled Sophie in her arms, rocking back and fourth.
I couldnt stand it.
I had done this.
My baby girl was hurt.
And I had sworn to myself to protect her.
One big gash on Sophie's once-perfect baby face stood out, and it made me sick.
The truck stopped and a man got out of it.
But I was barely paying attention to him as he ran over to us.
I wrapped my arms around April and Sophie and April sobbed.
Everything was happening too fast.
"I'll call 911..." the man said.
At that exact moment, when I heard him talk, something clicked.
I knew that voice.
I hated that voice.
It was Alex.

Sams P.O.V:

CHAPTER 8: (part 2)
Aprils P.O.V:
My ears were ringing as I looked around our car... or what was our car.
Shards of glass were all around me. Both the driving wheel and dashboard were compacted into one mangled mess. The rear side passenger door was savagely torn free from its hinges.
The first thing that came into my mind was Sophie.
I couldn't feel her in my arms anymore.
"SOPHIE!?" I screamed, but i couldn't even hear myself.
I saw something move under the rubble.
"SAM!?"
My hearing came back.
I heard a grunt and crawled as fast as I could to the rubble.
I pushed the deflated airbag off the indented dashboard and Sam sat up.
His face was bloody and his hair was matted down.
"Wheres- Sophie-" He gasped.
I couldn't stand it, I was breaking down.
The tears started streaming down my face as we dug through the back of what remained of our car.
I heard a little whimper.
My baby.
Sophie was lying with her little blonde hair turning red and her eyes were closed.

He stepped back, catching his breath, and looked at me. His eyes were like fire.
I didn't know what else to do, so I hugged him.

Jakes nose looked broken, and he grunted.
"April, we're leaving." Sam said sternly.
I nodded and followed him into our guest room.
We stayed silent as we packed back up.
"What did he do to you." Sam suddenly said.
"it was just- he just- he kissed me." my voice shook.
Sam nodded and shoved his clothes into his suitcase.
I sighed, this was supposed to be fun.
Then, something hit me. an idea.
"Hey Sam?" I asked, "Can we make one more pit-stop before we go home?"
He looked up at me with serious eyes, and i smiled at him,
"I promise the next stop will be better than this one."
He sighed and smiled back at me.
"Anything would be better than this."
I said bye to my friends at the beach house, and told them to call me. I tried to be calm, but was practically bursting with excitement as we walked to the car.

"Ahww, what's your name?" April asked, leaning down to smile at the two-year-old.
"I'm Alexander!" He squeaked, then ran behind his fathers legs, hiding from April.
"Well its very nice to meet you, Alexander." April said, standing back up.
He giggled and ran over two his mom, who bent down so he could whisper something to her.
"Ray!" April smiled, "It's so good to see you!"
They hugged and April and him started talking bout someone named Jessica.
"Oh, no, she left the house right after you did." Ray shook his head.
"That's too bad..." April said. But she was smiling a little as she said it, and I got the sense she really hadn't liked this Jessica girl.
Just then, the front door opened up, and a pretty brunette walked in holding groceries.
"Nikki?" She gasped.
"Belle!"
I decided to sit down on the couch.
A man walked in behind the girl. He had dirty blonde, shaggy hair, and brown eyes.
"Jake, oh my gosh!"
Jake looked taken aback when she hugged him, but then he smiled, and a little glimmer of something lit up his eyes.
He stepped back cluelessly and beamed at him.
"Hey Nikki!" Jake said, "I can't believe you're here! I've missed you!
His eyes flicked over towards me and I stood up.
I wasn't sure I liked this guy. It was pretty obvious he liked April.
Wrapping my arm around her waist, i smiled at him.
"Hey, I'm Sam. April's fiancée." I accentuated, making sure he got the message.
He nodded curtly to me and turned his attention back to April.
"Hey Nikki?" I heard Farah call from the other room.
I let go of her waist and she walked into the other room, me following behind her.
I glanced backwards, and saw Jake staring at April.
Yeah. I really didn't like this guy.

"It's okay April," I whispered as she shook in my arms.
"Sophie-"She gasped, grabbing Sophie's hand.
The flight attendant ran over to us.
"Is everything OK ma'am?" She asked April.
I nodded.
"Just a bad dream."
The flight attendant scolded April about scaring the other passengers and had to make an announcement over the intercom that everything was alright.
When April calmed down I asked her about the dream.
"Its was Alex... he hurt you. and he hurt sophie." she whispered.
"No." I said, holding her tighter, "That will never happen. I will never let anyone hurt sophie."
She exhaled and I held her on my chest until she fell back asleep.
...
We woke up as the pilot told everyone to buckle up for landing.
When the plane landed, we gathered our luggage and got in a taxi.
April was smiling the entire time. She was back home.
"Where to?" The taxi driver asked.
"As close as you can get us to Santa-"
"Wait." April smiled, cutting me off. "I have to attend a wedding in Palm Springs."
