Parables of the Pontoon Boat
{please read will change your life}
Our first priority class goes on a boating trip.
As we get on, there is a box that reads “LIFE JACKETS. ALL
MUST WEAR”. Naturally, I put one on being one to naturally
follow the rules. I stand back and witness some failing to follow
the instructions given. I start showing them the box of Life
jackets and only about half listen. Micah being one to act tough,
refuses to wear a jacket to impress one of the girls.
The trip goes on and everyone is dancing and having a good time.
Off in the distance I notice a small cloud and start to think
little of it. But as the trip goes on, the cloud grows and soon
enough, it is on top of us. The waves start to grow larger and
larger. The sky gets dark and we are getting tossed every which
way. People are starting to worry.
The boys who didn’t get a life jacket are getting the worst
of it. They are in the front of the boat getting hit by every blow.
Then what we all feared happened, Micah, Tanner, and Nich get slung
off the boat. There is a life preserver which I grab and sling to
the boys. But Micah is the only one who survived. When
Micah’s feet touch the deck, the storm miraculously
disappears. When Micah gets on he immediately grabs a life jacket
and refuses to let it go, regardless what the others thought.
We have an awkward moment of silence , then
soon enough Olivia starts playing music. Then everyone starts
dancing again. Except for me. “Do you not remember what
just happened ?! Tanner and Nich just got killed and you are
partying, STILL without a life jacket!” we round the corner
and there is a park ranger and everyone without a life jacket gets
a ticket.
This whole story is a metaphor. When you think about it, we are all
in a storm and Jesus is our Life jacket. I hope you take this with
you and tell all you know. But please don’t take credit. Give
it to God.
