UNWANTED
chapter fifteen
------------------------------------------------
*Daniel’s POV*
“Annabelle what
were you doing? We were
just supposed to make
them jealous, can’t
you do anything
right?” I
snapped.
“Oh come on Daniel,
I didn’t think
she’d actually kiss
him. Why do you care
anyway? Now you know
they’re
legitimately dating,
isn’t that why you
hired me?” asked
Annabelle.
“I hired you to
pretend to be my
girlfriend so that I
could make Ali jealous. I
didn’t hire you to
make Ali kiss her
apparently not
fake new
boyfriend!”
“Well isn’t
that just too bad. But oh
well. You know what they
say about karma,”
she said as she turned
away from me and walked
down the hallway.
Shaking my head, I turned
around and walked down a
hallway in another
direction. Rounding a
corner, I saw Jason and
Ali kissing in the middle
of one of the empty
hallways. My stomach
clenched along with my
fist. Jason said
something to Ali, and
then turned and walked
down towards where I was
watching. I ducked into
the door of one of the
classrooms and waited
until Jason was right in
front of me. Jumping out,
I punched him hard in the
jaw.
Jason was knocked back a
few steps, but he
regained his balance and
punched me in the
stomach. I winced and
returned with another
punch to the side of his
head.
“Daniel, you
don’t want to keep
fighting me,” he
said.
“Oh believe me, I
do.” I said as I
plowed into him in an
attempt to knock him off
balance.
The next thing I knew I
was on the ground, and
Jason was towering over
me. The pain was blurring
the edges of my
vision.
“I told you that you didn’t want to fight me,” he said, and then the world faded to black.
UNWANTED
chapter fourteen
------------------------------------------------
When I
couldn’t bear
Jason’s stare
anymore, I turned away
from his face to find
both Daniel and Annabelle
gone. My friends whistled
at us in the mocking way
friends do, not
understanding that the
previous night I had
refused to kiss
Jason.
“We, um, need to
get to class,” I
said, taking
Jason’s hand and
pulling him towards the
hallway. We walked until
we were alone.
“Now, I’d be
a fool not to have
enjoyed that, but I must
admit I’m a little
ticked off. What, so you
won’t kiss me
unless someone’s
watching? Did you think
if you didn’t agree
to be my girlfriend
I’d stop your
little show?”
“No, no Jason it
wasn’t like
that!” I insisted.
He raised one eyebrow in
reply.
“I didn’t
kiss you last night
because I don’t do
that. I still can’t
believe I just pulled
that back there.
That’s not who I
am, I-I just lost control
and-“
“So it’s
difficult for you to want
to kiss me, is that it?
Forgive me if I’m
being unfair, but I feel
insulted,” he cut
me off.
“Jason,” I
said, taking a step
closer and putting my
hand on his chest.
“I want to
kiss you. Believe me. But
I shouldn’t have.
Our first kiss
shouldn’t have been
in front of my
ex-boyfriend and a bunch
of other random people.
I’m so sorry,
”
Jason looked over my head
and let out a breath
considering how to
respond. He took a step
towards me and put his
hand behind my head. Ever
so gently, he tilted my
head up so that my lips
met his. He kept one hand
under my chin, and the
other he put on the small
of my back to pull me
closer. The kiss was much
less demanding, and was
instead sweet. He pulled
away while keeping our
foreheads pressed
together.
“I suppose we could always pretend that was our first kiss,” he suggested.

chapter thirteen
------------------------------------------------
“Erika…
I’m legitimately
dating him now,” I
assured her for the
hundredth time.
“I love it!”
she squealed.
“You guys are so
cute,” assured
Jessica.
“What I’m mad
about is the fact that
you started having
feelings with this guy
and didn’t tell
your best friend!”
said Erika.
“I didn’t
even know I had feelings
for the guy. I mean, I
did, but I was denying
them I guess. Does that
make sense?” I
asked my group of
friends.
“Nope, good thing
when you’re in love
it doesn’t have
to!” said Emily. I
rolled my eyes.
“Speak of the
devil,” said Erika
as Jason came and sat
down next to me. He
grabbed my hand.
“Well Erika, I
didn’t know you
were so fond of
me,” he spoke.
“Ha ha prince
charming. Ooh. And
speaking of the prince,
looks like the toad is
heading this way,”
she said. Sure enough,
Daniel was walking over
to our lunch table
holding hands with
redheaded girl named
Annabelle.
“Well, if it isn’t the fake couple,” Daniel mocked, gesturing in our direction. “As if I care anymore,” he said, while pulling Annabelle into a deep kiss. I know I shouldn’t care, but I found myself blinking back tears, unable to turn away. Annabelle broke the kiss and shot me daggered eyes partnered with an innocent smile. Your turn, she mouthed.
“Ali and I are a
couple now Daniel, now
get lost before I make
you get lost,” he
spat.
“Please Jason. I
bet she won’t even
kiss you,”
Letting my anger get the better of me, I pulled Jason’s hand to bring him closer, and before either of us could react I pressed myself up against him, embracing him into a deep kiss. I felt his fingers wind into my hair, and my lips part under his. Jason pulled away first, so that I could see the thinly veiled hurt in his eyes.

------------------------------------------------
“No you
don’t,” I
said shaking my head.
“Everyone gets
tired of me
eventually.”
“Not me,” he
insisted while walking
closer.
“Do you really mean
that?” I asked. I
shook my head to clear
it. My breath was getting
caught in my throat and I
didn’t know what to
do. This wasn’t
like me. I didn’t
fall for guys so
easily.
“Yes!” he
insisted laughing. He
clasped his hand around
mine, and pulled me up
against him. He tilted
his head and began moving
even closer.
My hand shot out,
catching him by the
chest. “I-I
don’t do
that,” I stammered,
taking a step back. I
realized I must have
sounded stupid, but I
stood my ground.
He put his hands up in a
surrendering gesture.
“That’s okay,
as long as you give me
the chance to convince
you otherwise,” he
said, again clasping my
hand. He leaned in and
pressed his soft lips up
against my cheek.
“All I’m
asking you for is one
chance Ali. If it
doesn’t work, it
doesn’t work.
Isn’t that what
high school relationships
are about? Taking
chances? Trying something
new?” he asked.
“I wouldn’t
know would I?”
“Come on Ali. I
know you like me. I can
see it by the way you
blush when I get
closer,” he
started, while inching
towards me. I glanced
down, but I
couldn’t keep the
blush from escaping onto
my cheeks. I looked up,
and was met with an
adorable and cocky half
smile.
“Will you go out
with me?” he asked
again.
I nodded my head and
smiled. He laughed and
closed the last few
inches between us,
embracing me in a hug
that picked me off of my
feet. He set me down, but
he didn’t let go. I
nestled my head into his
shoulder where it fit
perfectly, and with his
strong arms around me I
was met with the sense of
security and being wanted
that I had so dearly
missed.
UNWANTED
chapter eleven
------------------------------------------------
“Emma?” I
called as I neared the
door of Annabelle’s
café. She was
sitting in a booth
holding hands with a boy.
Looking closer I realized
it was Ben. Emma was
laughing. I grabbed
Jason’s hand and
pulled him inside with
me.
“When did this
happen?” I asked
them.
“About five seconds
after I ran out and he
came after me,”
said Emma.
“Although from the
looks of things I’m
not the only one who is
now dating my fake
boyfriend?” she
asked.
I glanced
down to where I was still
holding Jason’s
hand. It had felt so
comfortable I
hadn’t remembered
to let go.
“We’re not
dating,” I said,
dropping his hand.
“Well you
don’t sound so
happy about that,”
she replied.
“You don’t
even know what
you’re talking
about Emma,” I
snapped.
“I
came after you to see if
you were okay, but it
seems to me like your
fine.” I stormed
out of the café
and began walking down
the street. I
didn’t know where
to go. I had no cell
phone and no car with me
because Jason drove me
here.
“Ali, slow
down!” spoke Jason
grasping my arm. I was so
scared, I let my feet
slip out from under me
and landed hard on my
butt on the pavement.
“Oh my gosh
I’m so
sorry,” Jason
exclaimed, offering a
hand to help me up. I
swatted it aside to get
up by myself. “Ali
I didn’t mean to
knock you down I
swear-“
“I don’t care
that I fell down! What I
care about is that
everyone can seem to find
love. My cheating
boyfriend will probably
have a new girlfriend by
tomorrow, the majority of
my friends have
boyfriends, and the
girlfriend my boyfriend
cheated on me with had a
boyfriend. Daniel was my
first boyfriend
ever Jason.
I’m seventeen!
That’s not normal!
I should have been
heartbroken more times
than I can count by now.
I should know how to deal
with this by now but I
can’t.
Daniel was the first boy
to ever find me
attractive or to tolerate
me long enough to date
me. Do you have any idea
how that feels?” I
spat.
“Ali, please. Just
listen to me-“ he
started.
“No Jason. You
probably had girlfriends
to spare at your old
school. You don’t
get how this feels. No
one does. I’m
alone. No one ever wants
me, and that’s just
something I have to live
with.”
“Did you ever think
if you gave people a
chance and let someone in
for once you’d have
a boyfriend Ali?”
He strode foreword and
grabbed my hand. He put
it up against his chest.
“Feel that beat
Ali? I haven’t
known you long, but ask
and it's
yours.”
I couldn’t
breathe.
