TheUltimate Bucketlist

Ch. 4

{Luke’s POV}
I should have told her something—but I didn’t.
I should have warned her—but I couldn’t.
I should have gone and pushed her out of the way—but I just didn’t.
But it’s not like that would have helped at all. I think I saw it after she did. She… Haylee… God, I feel like… like… like an absolute [beep beep beep] right now. First I cheat on the girl I love, and now I let her get hit by a car!? Who does that? Oh right—ME!
Shaking off the guilt and shame, I ran over to her limp body.
Her hair was caked with blood. There was a scratch running down her face. She was lying in a big pool of blood, which was growing by the second.
I knelt down and held her close to me. I stroked her hair for a bit and then her eyes fluttered.
“Lu—Luke?” she said weakly.
“Yes, Haylee?”
“Umm… did you call an ambulance or something yet?”
Oh… right… I grabbed my phone and started dialing the number for the police. I had just pressed the first 1, when I heard the sirens of a cop car or ambulance. I was confused by that, knowing it was impossible for them to come without somebody reporting an emergency.
I looked up and saw a man with concern all over his face, hovering above Haylee and I

Chapter 3

“Haylee… I- I- This isn’t what it looks like at all!!!!” he stuttered.
“Of course it isn’t, Luke, OF COURSE IT ISNT!!!!!!!!” I screamed back without a single hesitation.
“Haylee, just please listen to me! I can explain!”
“Okay, then! Explain to me why you told me you loved me before you left, but now you’re making out with this random chick!? I would like to know why you did this, Luke, so please enlighten me!”
“Ummm… I- I-”
“Yeah, that’s what I thought!” I stormed out of the room with Luke right behind me.
“Haylee! I do love you! Please believe me! I haven’t ever stopped! Please believe me Haylee, I’m begging you here! What else can I do for you to take me back!?”
Ignoring him, I ran down the stairs.
“Sweetie, where are you going? We’re going to have dinner in a bit,” my parents questioned me.
“So, did you meet Luke yet? How was that meeting like? It’s been years since you two last saw each other! Have you guys caught up on everything yet?” Mrs. Brown fired at me.
Wanting to get out as soon as I could I simply answered, “I’m just going for a walk; I just want to get some fresh air. And umm… it went fine with Luke. We have a lot to catch up on…”
I ran out before I could get questioned anymore. I let my legs carry me wherever they wanted to. I didn’t care anymore. Luke was the only person in the world who ever meant anything to me, but apparently he didn’t feel the same way. I felt like an absolute idiot for even thinking that he would.

So do I guys like it so far? I love feedback *hinthint* :D

Chapter 2

Luke and I constantly sent emails back and forth. We video chatted at least once a week, and his voice was the last thing I heard every night before I went to sleep. I actually thought that we would be able to have a successful long distance relationship… but like most of my other hunches, this was so far from right, and it was practically left.
My family visited Luke and the rest of his family last summer. Everyone was planning to throw him a surprise party for his 17thbirthday, so no one told him that we would be coming. On the plane ride there, I rehearsed what I would say to him and would we could do, but I was an idiot to even try doing that. When we reached their house, Mrs. Brown, Luke’s mom and basically my second mom, told me that Luke and one of his friends were in his room. After leading me to it, she left me in front of the door. Without thinking, I just opened the door, like the old times when we would just let ourselves into the other’s room, not caring what they would be doing. But, this time, even I wasn’t prepared for what I would see this time. Luke was shirtless, lying on top of a girl. His mouth was basically sucking the life out of her, and she was practically doing the same.
It was like someone had just taken a hammer and shattered my heart into a million little pieces. I felt so used at that moment. Alone, mistreated, frustrated, stupid… I can’t even describe how I felt at that moment…
I thought- I thought- how could I have been such an idiot!? I should have known that he would have done something like to me!
I start feeling the tears run down my cheeks. I still couldn’t believe that he had treated me like that. Luke seemed to realize my presence so he started sitting up. As soon as he saw me his eyes widened and he hopped off of the girl. I started backing out of the room, unsure of what would happen next.

Chapter 1

I was in love with my best friend, Luke Brown. He was everything I had ever wanted- sweet, funny, smart, cute, kind… it would take a year to just name what was so amazing about him. Our moms were best friends when they were little, so when Luke and I were born just a few months apart, it was like a match made in heaven. Everyone thought that when we got older, we would start dating, go to the same college, get married, and raise a family together…
We had dating since 8thgrade, when we had first asked me to the 8thgrade dance. My friends had all come to my house at least 10 hours before it started and they all fussed over my hair and makeup. And my dress… oh I loved that dress. The light pink glowed against my skin and whenever I walked around, the sequins shimmered like precious jewels. My mom had brought out a necklace that she had worn to her first dance and loaned me a pair of matching earrings. At the dance, Luke and I danced, talked, ate, and really enjoyed ourselves. I don’t remember a time when I was happier.
But my life soon started collapsing after that. I found out that Luke’s dad had gotten promoted and that that the entire family would be relocating to California. That was halfway across the country! Who would go skiing with me now? Who would help me make hot chocolate when it was cold out and then clean up the mess I had made? Who would be there to listen to me vent after a long day? Who, who, who?
We had only been dating for a few months when this happened, so we decided that we would try a long distance relationship. Mistake number one. And on top of that, we chose to keep our relationship a secret from our parents. Mistake number two.

Prologue

A mother and her child: What’s their connection? Love. Romeo and Juliet: What’s their connection? Love. That guy over there who has his tongue in some random girl’s mouth: What’s their connection? Love.

It’s absolutely everywhere… But some people just can’t ever find it. Including me, Haylee Evans. I’m that kind of girl that you know is there, but you never bother acknowledging. I’m just another girl in the hallways that doesn’t need to be noticed. Just invisible… like a ghost, says nothing but hears and sees everything.

I used to believe in love. When I was a little girl, I thought that the girl would always get swept off of her feet by a charming prince, who takes her to his castle and then they get married, to live happily ever after. But now, I’ve realized it’s not like that… Disney movies might have created a fairytale for you to fall for, but life isn’t like that. Good never overcomes evil. The bad guy gets there way. And then Prince Charming ends up marrying the other girl.
