Once Upon a
Reality
Chapter 7
We finally arrived at the police station. It felt like it took a
bazillion year, but in reality it only took 10 minutes. Neil
took my hand as we strolled in.
“Can we help you?” a police officer asked us. He was
buff and middle-aged. He had black hair and a mustache.
Okay… I’m starting to have second thought on this.
Neil nudged me, nodding his head, gesturing for me to go and talk
to him.
“Yes you can.” I started. “I’m Jordyn
Davis. My parents recently filed a report on me being missing.
I’m not though. Obviously. I ran away. I ran away because
ever since I was a baby they have been abusing me. I just now got
the courage to tell someone. I even have the scars and bruises to
show you.”
“Oh Ma’am we don’t need the evidence. Your
parents already gave us a clue. We kind of figured why you were
missing, since you were at school today. Can you just fill out this
form and we can have them arrested and put you in a foster
home.” The officer smiled and handed me the form.
“No! I don’t want or need to go to a foster home!
Please I’m perfectly fine with where I’m staying
now!” I cried. They could not take me to a foster home!
“Well, Ma’am, if you have any family in this district
it would be fine if you stayed with them.” He told us.
“My grandma.” I answered. My grandma was nice and
sweet. She loved me and never let my parents hurt me. I
wouldn’t mind living with her, it’s just; I was having
fun at Neil’s house. Oh well.
A few cops followed Neil and me to my house. They were going to
arrest them, while I was going to pack my things. Right after I
agreed on living with my grandma, I called her. She sounded so
happy to hear that I was coming.
We reached my house, and my parents came to find out what the noise
was, with all the sirens and stuff. But, when they saw me their
confused faces turned into smiles. They came running over ad hugged
me.
“Oh we missed you!” they lied, hugging me a little too
tight. They put on a great act for the cops, thanking them
for returning me safely, but they didn’t buy it.
“Mr. and Mrs. Davis, you are under arrest for verbal and
physical abuse. Please don’t try to deny it, we have all the
evidence we need.” One of the police officers stated as
handcuffed my parents. It was finally happening, I was going to be
abuse-free for the rest of my life!
I ran inside to pack my things. Inside my room, all the terrible
memories flashed before my eyes. All the mean words, all the
beatings and cutting, and the smell of alcohol in my parents
breath. I started to cry. I finally just let it all out. I
didn’t know if they were tears of joy, or sadness, all I knew
was that the tears were interrupted by a knock on the open door. It
was Neil. He saw me, just sitting there with tears streaming down
my face. He sat down next to me and let me cuddle with him.
“Shh… it’s going to be fine. You did it, you got
rid of them. I’m proud of you. I love you.” He kept
whispering this to me, as I dried out my eyes. After about a half
hour, I was done, and started packing again. After another half
hour, I was ready to get my things from Neil’s house and then
go to my grandma’s house, which I will soon call my own.
Neil’s family said good-bye to me, even though I would
probably see them later in the week. Neil was the one who drove me
to my grandma’s house. I really needed to get my own car.
Anyways, it took about five minutes to get from Neil’s house
to my grandma’s. So, we were there already.
I ran up to the door and rang the doorbell. My grandma
answered it, and embraced me. We hugged for a long time, and then
started to unpack my things. I introduced her to Neil, and they
instantly became fans of each other.
After about an hour, Neil kissed me good-bye and left. That just
left me and my grandma. We ate dinner and caught up with each
other’s lives. In no time, we were so close, and tired. We
both went to bed around eight o’clock.
At school the next, Crystal and Brooke came running up to me.
“Where the h*ll were you yesterday!?” Crystal asked. I
gave them a confused look, because I had no idea what they were
talking about.
“We were supposed to go bowling, remember? Ugghh oh my gosh
you forgot!” Brooke told me. Oops, looks like I forgot. I
guess I was too caught up in the thing with my parents, I forgot
about my friends.
“Oh no, guys I totally forgot! I’ll make it up to,
let’s see… I could bring you guys shopping on
Saturday!” I suggested. But by the looks of it, I don’t
think they liked the idea.
“You’ve stood us up to many times! We don’t want
your sh*t anymore.” Brooke said, flipping me off as
they both walked away. I stood still. What the heck just happened?
They’ve been my friends since pre-school, and they
just… walked away. Now I know how the people on
wittyprofiles feel. I shut my locker and dragged my feet to first
block.
