The Witty Runaway
Chapter 10
It was now 10:30
and Easton and I were just pulling out of the drive way were the
party was.
I convinced his friends that we had "things" to do, so
I could see Rusty more.
On the way to my house to get my bags, my self phone got a call
from an unknown number.
"Hello?" I asked into the speaker.
Easton gave me a wierd look, and I shrugged my shoulders.
"Hello, Lana Martial?" the voice on the other end of
the line asked.
"Yes, this is she."
"I'm sorry to inform you, but your parents got into a
car accident, and neither of them made it. Their bodies are at
the Pines hospital, and we need you to come identify them for
police records. The other driver was drunk and driving way to
fast on the wrong side of the road."
Tears rolled down my cheeks as I took in what the man was
saying.
"Y-Yes, I'll be right there." I stuttered into the
phone.
"Again ma'am, I am sorry for your loss."
I hung up and just sat there in shock, tears streaming down
my face.
Easton kept looking at me nervously, "What is it,
Lana?"
"My parents.. They're dead.."
It really hit as I said those words, sending me into a major
meltdown.
Easton reached over and held onto my hand, while still
driving.
"They need us to go to the hospital and identify the
bodies."
"Whatever you need." he said holding onto my thigh.
We were walked up to the information desk, and Easton began
getting directions to where we needed to go.
I just held onto his arm, trembling and remembering every last
detail bout them.
Easton guided me to the door, where my parents lie lifeless
behind it.
He looked me in the face, "Do you want me in
there?"
My lip quivered, "I wouldn't wanna do it without
you."
The police I had spoke to on the phone led us into a room, where
to bodies I presumed to be my parents were laying under
sheets.
He pulled each sheet down, and I cringed at the sight, burrying
my face in Easton's chest.
The tears flowed harder and faster now.
He held tight to me, running his fingers through my hair.
"That's them." I mumbled not moving.
"Thank you. I'm very sorry." The police responded
opening the door for us to leave.
Easton got me in the car, and drove me to Rusty's house.
"What are we doing here?" I asked, trying to fight back
the tears.
"You need more than just me at this point." he said,
holding my hand.
He got out of the car, and picked me up wedding style and carried
me into the apartment building.
