I was just told today that on Wensday she was hit by a car. She is now paralyzed waist down.
But she risked herself to save a little boy and that is why she was hit.
A litte 4 year old boy was running across the street when I car came out of know where. The car was being driven by a drunk driver who had lost control of the wheel.
Mayra had ran in the street and pushed the little boy out of the way, she got him out of the path of the car safely but the whole left side of her body was hit then both of her legs were ran over.
She was in the hospital for many days, and then went to a different hospital in Chicago til she found out that she would never be able to walk again. She is stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.
I am honored to have her as a friend. Because after all of this she does not let herself get down. Alls she can say exleast it was my legs instead of the little boys life.
